Not sure what year it was made. It doesn't have the lion badge so it is probably an earlier year. Clean military quality point to point wiring. Two massive red Partidge transformers! mazda ecc83 pre valves. And many of the most desirable little bits in the circuit imaginable. Extremely versatile, Burman practically invented vesatile. Two channels kind of like the old blackface fenders. Ch1 has gain bass and treble. Ch2 has three gains, bass, middle, treble, presence, reverb and lighted powerswitch! Both channels have high frequency boosts. Other features: Back panel has voltage selector(110,220,240)- impedance (4,8,16)-two loudspeaker outs (ext.,alt.)- a link channel in and out - a "direct inject" send and "reverb remote" input. It has about 140watts with the original setup, 4 GEC gold lion kt77 valves/tubes. However this one at this writing has 4 sylvania el34's running the standard 100w, not ideal. Closed back particle board laminate cabinet with 2 12 inch double cone "Burman" (goodman manufacture?)red label speakers layed out from facing the front of the amp - an upper left and lower right diagonal layout. Indestructable "skid" feet and fold away side mounteed handles. So far i have only used it to record and practice. However i will use live in big clubs or small because the three gains give one virtually unlimited possibilities for volume levels and tonal tweeks. Some may say they would like a some more extras but then the tone would suffer. The fact that one can link this amp to another (Burman) head as well as power two more cabs is worth the price of admission itself. Just don't forget the ear plugs!

Sound Quality : 10
My favorite tones among the many are bakersfield country - brilliant stoner sludge - marshall 50w crunch and roar - sweet silky jazz - T Rex sass - and of course Geordie Walker's church bells roaring down on the infidels all at any volume! The 2000 pro combo as all three gain model Burmans, has a reverse compression capability (like hendrix reverse solo bit except for more dynamic), endless sustain capability, searing grind. Probably much more which is enticing for future experimentations.
I have used the amp with a 58 gretsch 6119 single bridge filtertron model and it sounds impeccable. Very rich yet articluate. sounds like a bobcat, a lion and a cello all at once. Also tried it with a peavey wolfgang maple top. The sounds were really good from the amp but the pickups are less articlulate and squealy in that stock instrument. It even sounds amazing with a silly 80's pointy head stock s-100 kramer wanker guitar. that is partly due to the surprisingly beneficial plywood construction and woody voiced predisposition inherent in the pickup of this cheap guitar, but this amps toneal shaping capabilities is immense. to sum up i could use this in a 50 capacity pub playing roots county rockabilly, a 500 capacity punk club, or outdoors with a classic metal band and it would probably be ideal for all of those needs.

Reliability : 9
The amp was designed to use gold lion kt77 power valves/tubes. This is the only reliability hitch as one gold lion can cost $100 US or more and are extremely rare. The benefits of using gold lions however are light years ahead of any current manufacture, jj/tesla e34l's etc.

Customer Support : 10
I have had correspondance with Gregg Burman and find him to be most sincere and helpful. Considering the amps have not been manufactured for around twenty years this is remarkable. Gregg has informed me that a customer parts/advice service for his creations is pending. In short his interest in his amps, their continued stellar performance and the people who use them seems to be a matter of the deepest personal pride and I feel even more privilaged to have one of these masterful amps because of it.

Overall Rating : 10
I have been playing guitar for 16 years, and have/do own Blackface fenders, original tweed fenders, marshalls, hiwatts, a 64 vox ac30 factory mod top boost and i believe the Burman is in a class all by itself. If you have any questions or Burman amps you want to sell or just want to gab, please email me fluwdot@earthlink.net. but don't use the "nospam-email" harmony central link in my experience it doesn't work
