2004. 2 Channels. Channel 1 is based on a Fender Twin Reverb. Channel 2 is based on a Marshall JCM 800. In other words, possibly the most versatile amp ever made. You can toggle between the two with a footswitch, which is unbelievably quiet. All tube, hand wired: 2X6L6, 1XGZ34 30 watt screaming power section. 4X12AX7 preamp section. Two Eminence Red Coat Tonker speakers, not a bad substitute at all for the now defunct rock standard Celestion. The Construction and materials in this thing are superb.

Gibson Les Paul Standard, Fender Tele DLX, Gretsch Sparkle Jet, RIC 620. All pickup configurations sound good with the amp but the Paul and Tele work best. With the Tele on the clean channel you can get a really warm, punchy, vibrant clean with good headroom that breaks up so nice at higher volumes. Tighter than a Fender with better response. You can't get a whole lot of headroom with the Paul but it gets a fantastically transparent overdrive as you turn it over. A boost or overdrive(Fulldrive, TS-9) also works great on the clean side. On the Overdrive channel, the Tele provides the sweetest midrange and most cutting tone that will power through a live mix or studio recording like you wouldn't believe, man does it come through. The Paul on the drive side produces this crushing, harmonically rich overdrive with an amazingly complex midrange and just endless sustain. Not fuzzy, absolutely Ripping! It screams like a cranked JCM800, but because it has a tube rectifier the tone is more complex with a little more sag making it sound a lot like an old Orange. Nice! I ended up loving the Tonkers because they break up the same as Vintage 30's or G12's but they're a little clearer and they're worth a few more watts so they handle the lows much better than a Celestion, sweeter, fuller. Also, this is THE loudest 30Watt amp I've ever heard... seriously. If Bob tries to talk you into an 18watt, listen to him. He knows what he's talking about.

As above, Anyone can see the construction and materials in this amp are top notch, solid. I will say that when you first get the amp the speakers, tubes, electronic components, etc. are all new and it takes about two weeks for everything to get broke in, but OH when it does! Bottom line, I gig this amp all the time without a backup.

Bob and his crew at the Tone Shop are great to deal with. Bob is a very busy guy but he would never refuse to help you with a problem over the phone or just field general questions about tone and gear. Won't talk to you like you're stupid either. He always did repairs and service on my other amps and he's going to take good care of the Burriss too. Wouldn't trust anyone else.

Mesa, Marshall 900, 2000, Orange AD30TC, Vox AC30. I'll never buy another Marshall, the Orange was a one-trick-pony, the Vox is the only one I've kept, but if everything were stolen I would frantically save to buy back the Burriss and then call it quits. No need for a two-amp rig or expensive boosts. In a fix, I could take a Tele and the Burriss with nohting but a footswitch and pull off any original or cover in the set list at any size venue. That's what I call peace of mind.
