Features : 7
The amp:
Marshall 100 W Superlead made in 1973. Point-to-point wiring. Basic amp with a bright channel 1, and a dark channel 2. 4 Inputs so you can wire the two channels togtether in a variety of ways.

The mods:
Mastervolume, a more effective mid-knob, switchable tunings (which I,ll explain later).

Sound Quality : 9
Before the mods:
With a Les Paul this amp has great rock and blues sounds, and nice cleans. Though, break up starts very early, between 2-3 on channel 1. With the strat the sound is quite shrill. It is possible to get good sounds, but I don't like messing with tone knobs.

After the mods:
The sound is warmer, cleaner, and break up is around 5-6. Now the strat sounds perfect, and you get a good Les Paul sound as well. With , in addition, the MV you have a very versatile amp, and not only for big stages. Plus you can switch between the old circuit and the added mods by pulling two pots. I like the sound of this amp even at low volumes and, of course, if you crank this thing you get wonderful distortion (here's where I switch off the modded circuit). At low volumes, I use my ratII, I really like that pedal. My playing style is very much influenced by Jimi Hendrix and Jimmy Page (what'd you expect?), and by alternative rock like the Pixies/Frank Black, Pavement, Juliana Hatfield, etc.

Reliability : No Opinion
With taking care, and having it serviced once in a while I think this amp will hold up for another 30 years. There isn't much to tell about the reliability of the mods than that the parts are of good quality.

Customer Support : 10
Chris is a very nice guy. I think the amps are not like a job or his hobby to him, I think it's more like his passion.

Overall Rating : 9
I've been playing for 12 years now. I'm a guitar teacher with a classical bachelors degree , I teach besides classical music almost anything, so I play many styles other than the rock mentioned above. I play in all kinds of bands. My other amps are a Vox AC15TBRX and a Sovtek Mig 50. Some other pedals I use are: Fulldrive, Hotcake, Phase 90, Boss DM-2, Vox V847 Wah (modded).
I'm proud of owning this piece of rock history, and I'm glad Chris made it so versatile and usable. I like an open sound, clear and articulate. These qualities are in this amp as well as in the strat and the rat. And I like how this amp can make the guitar sound big. It's also a big and heavy amp to carry around, but I'm sure I'll keep it.
