The good thing about this amp is the channel selection. 2 master volumes and 2 seperate channels mean you can set up a clean tone a distortion tone and then have a 2nd volume so your solos can be heard over the rest of your band. It has an FX loop but I have never used it.

Sound Quality : 7
I play rock/metal. I use a range of guitars but my main one is a Gibson gothic flying V. I use a Boss GX700 FX unit in line with the input. As other have said the standard gain is good but this is one of those amps that sounds great in a bedroom but can struggle a bit for muddyness live. I have been luck enough to play some reasonable size venues in the last few years and I would only use the onboard sound if I was desperate. Using to amp with the FX rack is much better but I have still not 100% found a rythem tone I am happy with. On the plus side this thing is great for lead, if your a solo's man (which I am) it sound great and you get plenty of definition from the notes you play. I have countless people ask me how I get such a good lead sound. Clean is average not the best but not the worst. You can get a very nice Blues crunch on the clean channel if thats your thing.

Reliability : 10
Owned it for 10 years, I have played all over the UK first in Mirage and now in my new band Lost in Vegas. I did a stint in a blues covers band for a while too. This amp has never let me down its built like a tank. If your touring like I have valve amps are easily broken so that why I went for a solid state and FX rack instead of a valve amp. never had to replace a thing.

Only problem now is some of the pots crackel a bit but that could be sorted out with a service.

Never had to use it, although my brother had the combo version of the same amp and had a problem for a short time and they gave him a replacement while his was being fixed, 10 years on and his has never had another problem either.

I am giving this an 8 overall but I have not played through many amps. I had a Fender Delux beofre this one and this p1sses all over that as far as tone, volume sound goes. I have also played through a JCM900 when recording which was a similar tone, as we were in the studio I would say there was not much difference but maybe the Marshall would have been better cranked up in a LIVE situation.

I choose this orginally because I was 17 at the time and did not have much money but wanted an amp stack. I am not a marshall fan and wanted something different, this looked great and was different. I loved having the dual volume, and when playing it in the shop it sounded great.

I will probably have to go for valves soon as the band I am in is getting very popular and we are playing some bigger venues, I just think this amp does not cut it at the top end, its got the power but not the tone.

This amp is 150 watts through 4 or 8 ohms, solid state, and a rather fetching burgundy colour. The thing is well built though the knobs are a little plasticky for my liking (being made of plastic this isnt a surprise).

This amp has all the features I need (I play through a Zoom GFX4 effects box so I do all my tweaking with that). I play a ESP Viper 301 and this combination works very well. The clean channel is nice and fat and doesn't distort even at high volume, the EQ on the clean channel is passive and only 3 band so it might not have as much in the way of tonal variation if you want a wide range of clean tones.

The distortion channel is quite muddy (through my Celestion loaded 4x12) although it has a 5 band active EQ so Im sure you could get a decent sound out of it with patience. As I said, I use a pedal for all effects.

Havent used the reverb much though it sounds fine. Has 2 external speaker sockets and line-out as well as effects send/return. I have found that the line-out sounds a little fizzy when used for recording purposes. There is also a 4/8ohm selector which is very handy for tailoring the amp's output to your cabinet.

All I wanted was an amp with a good clean channel that would sound good with stomp boxes, this amp is all of the above. I have used it live on may occasions and it has stood up well when played alongside a Peavey 5150 so don't let the "tube" heads bigotry toward solid state cloud your judgement.

Sound Quality : 7
Good clean channel which works well with punk/metal distortion tones. As I said it works good with my ESP Viper and my Zoom stomp box. I havent noticed excessive noise coming from the amp at high volumes- if this happens it is more likely to be the pickups. I wouldn't be able to comment on the variety of sounds this amp can make- it sounds great clean, and sounds great dirty, which is all I use it for.

If you want distortion, I would use an effects unit as the on board dirty channel can be quite muddy and muffled (although i havent played with it much)

Reliability : 10
I use this without backup as it is built like a tank and weighs as much as a tube amp. I have dropped it a few times and have had no problems, its had all the usual gig injuries, beer spilled on it, knocked off the cabinet, etc etc. Still works fine. Has never failed me in 2 years.

havent dealt with them, although the people at Carlsbro always respond to email quickly. I asked about a footswitch and they got back to me same day.

I would like to say I'd replace this amp if it were lost or stolen but it seems to be quite a hard piece of equipment to find. Basically, I just lucked out on it cos I never expected too much from a #300 head. It does its job great for what I use it for (medium size shows, metal/punk music. Been on bills where 6 bands have played through it with no problems and no overheating.

Its been played live next to Marshalls, Peavey 5150, Laney etc etc, and has always sounded as powerful and full as any of these (and its much cheaper).

So, for a basic clean/dirty sound this amp performs brilliantly. Its reliable, cheap and built like a tank. I would recommend it fully to prospective buyers.

Im not sure how old the amp is cos' i bought it off my brother. It's currently stuck in the corner of the room, and i have to keep the window open when im playing it incase it blows it out. Theres some bloody power in it (150w), and its all usable. Its ideal for the kind of music i play, like Metallica, Sabbath, and Hendrix, as theres a feckin good distortion on it.

Sound Quality : 10
I only have a shitty old fender rep, and i dont even know the name of it because i got it resprayed. Theres a good sound out of it though, as i replaced the pickups with a set of original fender ones, and i somehow squeezed a floydrose bridge in. The amp gives a bit of feedback (which is good) in a small room, but when i had it out in the back garden, it sounded fappin' great! The reverb on the amp is useful. The clean channel sound great at any level, and the distortion is top class. Cant wait until i save enough for my B.C Rich 'Beast'. That will be some combination.

Reliability : 10
Its very reliable and dependable. When theres no one in the house, i can just go up, turn it on and play some fucking loud tunes. Its never given me any bother, but i am not sure about valves. My friend says there is bound to be valves in such a big amp, but i never checked. He says they need to be replaced evary year to keep it sounding well, so if anybody reads this and knows about them will they send me an e-mail at davey666@hotmail.com

I dont know anything about customer support as i bought it second hand

Overall Rating : 10
I have not been playing for long, but my brother has been in a few bands, and he has told me that the amp is far better than any other amps he has had the pleasure of playing on. I love the sheer 'rawness' of it, and that when you turn it up halfway, you get a nice big ringing in your ear for a few days!I dont think i could have got much better of an amp for the money and i am extremely pleased with it. When me and my friends actaually get our band together, i know what equipment i will be buying.
