1970 Carlsbro TR 100 amp. Basically a 100 watt version of the TR 60.
Two channels with two jacks each. Does have channel switching from back foot switch, no effects loop. Has reverb and tremolo, both of good quality. Also has a handy treble cut dial which can roll on of off the high end frequencies...very usefull from going from a more jazz sound to a high gain rock tone.

Sound Quality : 10
Amp is very loud and has a superb tone by way of four el34's and 4 12ax7's. Classic britsh/Marshall tone. I run a Steinberger GP4/with EMG's into a Carl Martin compressor, then a CM boost and Electro Harmonix analog delay. The amp is before the era of gain stages and so is a very clean pure and rich sound. If you push it with an attenuator you can get that early blues breaker tone. I like running it clean and creating my own distortion before it hits the head.

Reliability : 10
Amp is very, very well built, has needed almost no servicing...pretty much a tank. Carlsbro were making amps well before Marshall and were considered a kind of 'boutique' amp in it's day. Has point-to-point wiring, very high level of workmanship.

Customer Support : 10
Company is still around and are extreamly helpful in answering questions via email.

Overall Rating : 10
If it were stolen or broke, would have to find another type of amp. These amps are rare to say the least, but would probably buy a new Carlsbro. I love the sound, hate nothing about it..can't complain. This amp simply rocks with a gorgeous tone (which can be made even nicer with good quality tubes!!) and plenty o power. A secret classic!

Amp is most similar to a plexi Marshall but at half the price.

Bottome line...a great deal/steal for the knowledgable!

Amp manufactured in early 70s. Has two channels, bass and treble. NO fx loops. Easily enough power. All valve. Features tremolo and spring reverb.

Sound Quality : 10
Using with Musicman Silhouette. Excellent clean sound, and v realistic 60s tremolo effect.

Reliability : 10
Utterly reliable. Had it for 20 years without a single problem. Replaced mains input with more modern socket, but apart from that no modifications.

Customer Support : 9
Very helpful. Haven't needed to contact them about this amp, but have had other Carlsbro equipment and found company unfailingly helpful on all occasions. They are much underrated

Overall Rating : 10
Been playing for about 25 years. Own a couple of transistor amps, but they don't live up to the Carlsbro. If it were stolen, would probably go for a Vox (only for the image).
