Carr Amplifiers Slant 6V 112 Combo

This one's an '06, channel switch only (standard configuration). 4 6v6 output stage two running in cathode bias, two in fixed. You can also select half power using either of the two pairs. Impedance switch to match power setting. Eminence Red White and Blues speaker. 3 band eq on both clean and dirty channels (fully discrete preamps for each channel) and spring reverb. Fx loop. Pretty much every feature a gigging musician needs without any added complication.

I've had the Slant 6v for about 6 weeks and have gigged it very heavily--I think we're past the honeymoon stage. I can't say enough good things about this amp, and find myself resorting to every cliche of this genre (gear reviewing) when talking to people about it. It's absolutely the best sounding amp I've ever gigged or recorded with. It's also the most versatile. That both those things are possible in one amp is proof of an amazingly well thought out and implemented design. I think it's a classic.

Me: I play 3-4 nights a week, plus rehearsals and sessions. The majority of my gigs are with local, regional and national soul, funk, r&b and hip hop acts. I also play with a rock band, and do my own sort of eclectic instrumental stuff. I do occasional jingle gigs. I regularly play in venues that range from tiny clubs to huge auditoriums, and outdoor venues like Chicago's 11,000 seat Pritzker pavilion.

My tastes are really varied--my favorite records include stuff by Miles, the Stones, Iggy, Tribe Called Quest, Beethoven, Bill Evans and Curtis Mayfield. My favorite guitarists tend to be pretty efficient, unique, angular, and rhythmic--Jimmy Nolen, Pete Cosey, Curtis, DeWayne McKnight, Robert Quine, Pete Townshend and Kenny Burrell come to mind. I tell you all this nonsense not because you should give a damn but so you know where I'm coming from sonically. I also like long walks on the beach. I play teles almost exclusively--lately an MIM 60's classic with a Barden in the neck and a Fralin in the bridge. I've also used a tele with a Duncan SH1 with this amp on a couple rock gigs.

The clean channel:
Has the basic tone of a great Deluxe Reverb, but with more headroom and the authority and punch of a larger amp--maybe a Vibrolux, but still with all that DR bounce and sweetness. There's more of that bounce at half power in cathode mode, and less headroom but with the same cut in half power, fixed bias mode. You can get the full range of blackface sounds (from cranked DR to Super Reverb) out of this side at damned near any volume. It just sounds really, really good all the time. The reverb is the best I've heard. Maybe even a bit better than on my Carr Rambler.

Compared to the Rambler the clean sound is more focused with a brighter, "stringier" top end. The Rambler cleans are a bit "bigger" and rounder. Sometimes the Rambler cleans might work better for solo or trio work as they fills more space. I find the Slant 6v cleans sit more easily in a recorded mix--even more easily than a Deluxe Reverb and that's really saying something. Some of the differences with the Rambler may be due to the different speaker--the Rambler has Carr's Kingpin speaker in it which may be darker.

Pushed, the clean channel is just perfect--like a DR but even more controllable and dynamic.

Drive channel:

The range of this channel is shocking and somehow it still sounds like it's the same amp as the clean channel. You can get all sorts of great sounds on this channel, from slight breakup reminiscent of tweed deluxes, to voxy grind, to heavier marshallesque sounds, but really it DOES sound like a Carr. And there's nothing jarring about switching from clean to drive--the underlying voicings of the channels make tremendous musical sense. This is the first channel-switcher I've played that worked this way for me. The dirty tones have enough edge and cut to be really dynamic, but they are also remarkably controllable at volume, and the different power setting options expand the available dynamic response even further. For the two-guitar rock band I play in the half-power cathode bias setting seems to work best with my tele. The scary thing is there's also a whole range of amazing, fat, almost-clean sounds in this channel too.

Man, enough talk, it just sounds f---'in good!!!!

I've gigged the hell out of my Rambler for over two years without a single hiccup. These amps are ridiculously over-built and I can't imagine anything out there that's more reliable. The Slant 6's ability to run on a single pair of power tubes means that you have a backup set available in case of single tube failure.

Email Carr and Steve, the designer/owner, writes you back with a thoughtful, informative, helpful and very friendly response. Every time. He clearly gives a damn. What more can any of ask for?

I traded a bunch of gear for this amp including a silver face Deluxe Reverb. I absolutely love my Carr Rambler, but I couldn't pass up the ability of this amp to cover my rock gigs (and increasingly, the hip hop stuff requires heavier sounds too)in a way that pedals just can't quite match.

All I can tell you is this amp is capable of some of the most beautiful sounds I've heard come out of an amp, and in spite of its huge range and ability to work well at any volume, it somehow manages to sound musically coherent and full of character at any setting. It helps me sound like...me.

I'm happy to answer questions about this amp.

This is a 2003 model. I bought the one with the footswitchable boost. This effectively makes it a 3 channel hand wired amplifier. This is the first handwired amplifier that I have found that I think could pull off all styles of music. Most handwired amplifiers do one channel really well (like my Maz 38 sr) but then you have to run an overdrive/distortion or a boost to get a second channel. I finally got tired of buying new overdrive pedals to try to get the sound I wanted.(fulldrive2/ocd/distortion pro/creamtone/69/sparkledrive/ts-9/bottlerocket/ds-1/etc...)
This amplifier has 2 independent channels. Channel 1 is the clean channel and does not have a master volume. (gain, treble, middle, bass, reverb). Channel 2 is the overdrive (gain, treble, middle, bass, master) with footswitchable boost. It is 40 wats running all 4 6V6s (2 in fixed bias and 2 in cathode bias). You can also run it at 1/2 power choosing either fixed or cathode biased. The reverb is only on the clean channel. I actually prefer this if the amplifier doesn't have independent control for each channel since the overdrive channel generally needs a lower reverb setting. It doesn't have the effects loop which is OK with me since I never use it anyways!

Wow! I bought this on ebay after only listening to the clips on the website. I couldn't have been happier with the sound. The clean channel is prestine and the reverb is very lush. It has plenty of sparkle without being obnoxious. The overdrive channel is very versital. I was able to dial in anything from a blues tones to a hard rock sound. The boost kicks the overdrive channel towards a nice hard rock. I find that the overdrive channel is very smooth with a very fluid sustaining tone. While this might not suffice for nu metal or rap metal it will cover most everything else.

Seems to be built like a tank. I bought it used and had it shipped without any issue.

I emailed Steve and he promptly emailed backed with answers. I can't imagine that there would be a problem if the owner cares enough to answer stupid question emails!

I have been playing for 30 years and have (and do) own a lot of amplifiers (Rivera, Fuchs, Dr. Z, Laney, Allen). I looked at several amplifiers before deciding on the slant 6v. I came close to buying a Dr. Z Galaxie. It had great tone but since it does'nt have a master volume on the second channel I found it very hard to see it as a 2 channel amplifier.

In my opinion, this is the ultimate amp! For those who think channel switching isn't a sign of the coming of the antichrist, this is a really great amp. Two channels: 1) Blackface deLuxey: volume, 3 band, and reverb; 2) thicker and heavier: volume, gain switch (two intensities), master, 3 band, (no reverb - but this has been added on later ones).

Has a half power where you can choose the bias by choosing which two tubes you are using. Two 6V6 work on cathode bias, two 6V6 on fixed. The cathode is spongier and more compressed sounding; the fixed is punchier and more focused sounding. Tube rectified, handwound custom application transformers. Footswitch

I play a PRS hollowbody, a strat (Eric Johnson), and an old tele. Effects I use are simple, analog man compROSSor, tubescreamer, Maxon analog delay. Musically I play blues, jazz, and rock - the usual.

More important than the features or flexibility is the sound . . .

I had been looking for a tube amp of this size for quite awhile. The main competition for this was a vintage deluxe reverb. My main thought was: Why do I want to mess around with a 40 year old amp? I want to play it, not look at it or maintain it. Tested lots of amps. Cost was less of an issue than the sound. Checked out Bad Cat, Fender (new & vintage), Dr. Z, Victoria, Kendrick, Torres, etc. I figured I'd keep looking until I found something I liked. I wasn't in a hurry. This is the first amp I played that just had "that sound!"

Clean Channel is full and chimey without being glassy. It is very "blackface deLuxe reverb" like. The tone knobs actually change the sound! (Novel concept.) There doesn't just seem to be one sweet spot. It really encouraged me to vary the settings to explore the effect on my tone. Reverb is beyond belief! From just a little to full dripping wet cave diving. Channel two is much beefier and thick. Lots of growl and snarl - but not metally. Frankly, it's freaking loud, so I haven't really turned it all the way up. But what I hear - I like. The whole thing just has a bloom to it, that, to me, just sounds incredible. Nothing else quite did it for me.

Steve Carr really knows how to build amps. Well done!!

I was blowing fuses quite a bit. Not through excessive playing or volume or anything - just blowing fuses (about one per week). I bought it used so there was no warranty. Emailed Steve; gave him the scoop. He mentioned that my generation of amps had some touchiness in this regard. He told me to send it to him and he would fix it - for free! What a guy! They had discovered the problem and redesigned the circuit. (I had to pay shipping.)

Now the amp is solid as a rock. Extrordinarily well built! The construction is breathtaking to behold (well, maybe not quite, but awfully nice.) I suppose any tube amp has reliability issues due to the tubes. But if this amp had a problem (post mod), it wouldn't be the fault of the builder.

I have been playing about ten years now on and off - lately more on than off. Everybody has a clever statement about theft and all. Mine is about the same, and involves crying, hunting, torture, rape, pillage, setting things afire, and then ultimately repurchace. This is a hell of an amp! I'll never sell this one. I generally don't find straight tens to be very descriptive and can indicate a person doesn't know anything about the product at all - and maybe that's true with me. But, I shopped for this for over four years. And I wouldn't have purchased it if it weren't all that and a bag of chips.

This is a 2005 model, with most features discussed extensively below. I bought one with the footswitchable gain boost, so it's essentially a 2-1/2 channel amp. The dual power sections are so versatile - it's like two Deluxe Reverbs in one box.

I play rock and roll, R&B and a little faux-jazz. The amp is extremely versatile, and I am very pleased, but even at the 40-watt setting it's not a jazz amp, although at very low volumes it does get a lovely jazzy tome. More on that in a bit.

I'm rating features at less than a '10' only because the reverb is not footswitchable. The fact that the lead channel has no reverb was a little hard to get used to, but I can see the wisdom there. For recording, you'll be disabling the loop and adding effects to the mic'd signal anyway - for live work, if you need reverb you put it in the effects loop and take the hit on the fidelity.

This amp does wonders for the sound of my mongrel Strat. And for any of the rock styles I play, it is incredibly smooth - possible the best grind and lead tomes I've ever heard. But humbuckers push the front end hard enough to distort even at low volume, and for a jazz box it's just not my cup of tea. I should say again that the clean channel is shweeeeeet if you don't need crystal clean headroom, and when you wind it up it's pretty magical. I love it when at a certain point the volume stays the same but the sound gets more and more saturated. I grew up playing through Sunn amps and an old blackface Twin Reverb, so I have a certain idea of what 'clean' means...

Lastly, I want to point out that this is my first Deluxe-inspired amp, and the 6V6s really do have their own wonderful distortion quality - very different from the 6L6-based Fender amps, and different again from the EL84 boutique models I recently auditioned (VHT Pitbull) and new and older versions of Dr Z MAZ 38 Sr.).

The lead channel is very versatile, and I find that the moderate gain settings are just as satisfying as when you really open it up. The 20 dB gain boost is very well balanced when you switch it in - just loud enough to push you into 'solo territory', but not too dramatic a volume jump (unlike the Marshall DSL401 I've been working with).

The amp is too new to rate for reliability, but I am not too concerned. The company and their products have a great reputation. I always bring an emergency-only modeling rig I can plug into the PA as a back up. I will usually carry a set of old power tubes and a couple of 12AX7As but don't have any old 6V6s yet...

I bought through a dealer and have not had occasion to speak with Carr. Regarding the warranty, this is from the website (www.carramps.com): "Tubes, speakers, and reverb tanks are warrented for 90 days while components (transformers capacitors etc.) are warranted for 3 years. Workmanship is covered for life to the original owner. This includes any issues arising from the amps assembly."

Overall this is a wonderful amp - a versatile amp for live use with an effects loop and a nice footswitchable boost, and a monster for recording. The clean channel offers a spectacular grind and over-the-top saturation, and the lead channel is convincing at moderate and higher gain settings. Perhaps the best indication is that the amp delivers monster tone even at bedroom volumes.

My playing experience spans almost forty years, and I've mentioned many of the amps I'm familiar with - I wanted to mention that I bought the amp to complement an Allen Encore which I bought last year - it's a great 2x10 Vibrolux-inspired amp with a master volume and 2x6L6 power section. I planned to use the Carr for gigs where I needed a bit more headroom than the Allen offers. I now see that the two do complement one another, but mainly because the 6V6 sounds different from the 6L6 - I'll need to haul the Twin for those jazz gigs I guess... This amp has tons of features between the 3 power configurations and two channels (that's six notably different sounds -before you add a single stomp box!). then add to the mix the footswichable gain, the bypassable loop, and a lush spring reverb.

I was surprised at myself when I wrote the check, but now that it's paid for I'm having a ball. I'm loving this amp, and have the feeling that this will remain my 'go-to' amp for the forseeable future - maybe forever! - but I always say that <g>

I WORK FOR NO ONE IN THE MUSIC OR AMP BUSINESS

Amp manufactured in late 2003. Very happy with this amp after nine months of lots of use. I read earlier about some people who had experienced undesirable tones before speakers were broken in. I expereienced a little bit of this for first few weeks of use. Not sure if speakers broke in or if my ears are breaking down (insert nervous laughter here). I've been playing this amp with a number of different bands. I use the half power setting for one group and get away with power to spare in medium size rooms. In another band I have to give mic the thing even when running at full power. Someone remarked about not much volume difference between half and full power. ON this amp the difference is very noticable - tons more headroom as well of course on the full power setting. I know there are a ton of different tone settings I haven't explored yet, but I'm not done having fun yet with the settings I'm currently using! Thought the lack of reverb on channel two would bother me but it has been good. The effects loop sucked too much tone for my tastes, so I just put pedals in front of amp which sounds great anyway. I play mostly honky-tonk, americana, and country.

Single coil stuff (strat, tele) seems to sound best in this amp, though I play all kinds of stuff through it. My ES125, archtop also sounds pretty good through this thing, midrange is very punchy and round. Also play steel guitar through this thing (non-pedal), probably not as much headroom as most would like for that application but I like it. Very versitile amp on the whole. Ch2 gets about as dirty as I care to play. Very harmonically rich sounds. Clean ch is very glassy and bell-like. I really enjoy the sensativity of this amp - play soft and it is quiet, play hard and volume comes through. I've been playing at times thinking I could hear the wood of the guitar coming out through the speaker - maybe it was the cabinet, I don't know how to explain - more clop than zing? OK next question...too hard to talk about this. Sounds GREAT! How's that? If I was to complaina about anything it would be nit-picking, but I'm unsure sometimes of the bass response - probably my playing and instrument swapping more than anything else.

No problems so far. Yes I do gig without a backup - but I've been doing that for about 17 years now. Maybe I've just been lucky in having reliable amps. Looks to be built as well or better than any other amp I've owned.

I called the factory when I was shopping around and Steve Carr seemed like a stand-up guy on the phone. Nice to call the company and have Mr. Carr in person! I've had questions about tubes and stuff and they have been very responsive. In comparison I tried for quite a while to get an amp schematic from Gibson for months, being shuffled from person to person. I believe these guys will be responsive if there are ever any issues with the amp.

I've been playing for 21 years. I've owned a number of fender amps 62 to 90s. Was originally looking for an old reverb deluxe and this amp came to my attention. I would buy this amp again if lost or stolen. I like the different power settings, tones and channel switching. I kind of made a leap of faith when buying this and I'm totally satisfied. Never spent this much money before on a guitar, let alone an amp. I'm still getting over the amount I spent on it, but if I keep it around for a number of years the cost will be worth it. I was playing a super reverb prior to this purchase and the difference is pretty incredible. This amp seems to have more packed into it than I have been able to explore well in nine months. This is an older amp made in 2000 two channel clean and a high gain I use a Morly A-B box to split the channels Plus you can blend the two with clean and dirt,very nice.4-6v6 and tube rectifier,Kingpin house speaker that comes with amp.Plenty loud for just about any gig,indoors or out.Also has Reverb,on clean channel

I play PRS cu24,56 fender custom shop,Ibanez FG-100 80,s hollowBody,All sound great,amp takes all single or Humbuckers with ease,I play all styles and I manily use the clean channel and use a Tim and TS-808 and it is just great,Very pedal friendly,It has a switch for fixed bias or cathode bias, and full power,So you can get from 18watts to 40watts just great idea.

Had one problem one tube shorted,other then that works great.I installed a matched quad of EH 6v6,s and the cool thing is you can bias amp so easy with a meter all you have to do is bias the two center tubes to 33ma each and your set for all four,the bias knob adjustment is easy to get at.

I called about the tube problem and they returned email fast,and very helpful,great guys to deal with,that alone is worth the price of the amp.also when I called on the phone people actully answer.

I,ve been playing 30years and own a ton of other vintage and modern gear,I love how vesitale it can be,clean tone is perfect,compared to modern amps I have Top hat KR and tone king comet,and I would keep the Carr over these other amps.

This one was made in August of 2002. This thing is absolutely perfect on features. I get so sick of bells and whistles that are on an amp purely to help it sell and not to increase tone. Carr has included the perfect amount of features here. I can't believe how good BOTH channels sound. This is one of only two channel switching amps that I like. I also like the good Dr. Z's 6545. I wanted a combo though, so I went with the carr. And yes, I looked at the Bogners as well. They were nice, but not up to par with the Carr and Dr. Z. I use this amp for recording and in medium sized clubs. I love the different power settings. Surprisingly, these don't seem to change the volume very much. Rather, they add a completely different feel to the amp. I definately love this amp.

I use mostly strats and telecasters with this amp. Also the occasional PRS or LP. It absolutely loves any and everything that you plug into it, but I prefer single coils. I play a lot of chicken pickin stuff, in the style of brad paisley and brent mason. I also love to play blues. I'm your basic country/ roots palyer. Although I prefer the sound of a Dr. Z to the fender deluxe reverb sound for country, this amp sounds just as good as my old 66 deluxe. But for out of phase strat tones, this baby will make you cry with the volume set anywhere from noon on. Play some little wing SRV style and you are in heaven! Anywhere after or around noon and this thing starts to break up beutifully. This amp is very quiet as well. Not completely silent when cranked, but very quiet.

The lead channel sounds awesome too for what I like to play. Way more than enough gain for me. Can sound like anything from an old fender tweed (but with more preamp distortion), to an old marshall bluesbreaker. You can nail a great Claptain tone. The thick tone that he used on alot of the Cream recordings. This thing really is a tone machine.

As dependable as a tube amp can be. Only let me down once and that was just because of a bad tube. Steve Carr only uses the best parts and craftsmanship, I completely trust him in this regard. I always carry a backup though. Not another 6V, but a backup amp.

Steve Carr is incrediblely polite, nice, and helpful. I have spoken to him on the phone a few times and he has always helped me out and I didn't even buy it new! Makes you love the product even more.

I hate to give 10's all the way accross the board, but I really think this amp comes as close to deserving it as any other amp I have ever owned/played on/heard. I just love it. I don't know what else to say. This thing in one of my babies that I will love for years to come. An unbeatable value.

2001 or 2002 (#51 made)foot-switchable 2 Channels, a loud 40 watts, switchable (on back) to either cathode (18w), fixed bias (20w), or full power (40w) - all Class A watts. Kingpin 60 speaker, openback cab. Two independent, foot-switchable channel amp, 1 clean, the other w/ 2 levels of distortion. 100% tube tone. Hand point-to-point wiring. Top quality, capacitors, hospital grade power cord. Reverb on the clean channel only - hence the 9. Very versatile.

I use this as my main gigging amp. Own PRS Custom 24, & McCarty, Texas Special Strat (Texas Spcl P'UPs), Highway 1 Strat & a MIM Tele (both w/ Kinman's - Woodstocks and Broadcaster respectively). I have owned this amp since approx March of 2002. It is #51 made so I believe it is most probably a 2001 model. I have purposely waited until now to post a review in order to give myself time to completely evaluate it in both a home practice and gigging situations, and to be sure it is as good as I initially thought. IT IS! There's probably not alot of new info I can add other than to further endorse what others are saying - this is the most awesome sounding amp I have ever owned (and I have owned Peavey Duece, Mace, & Ultra-tube 212, 70s Fender Twin, 80s Fender Rivera-era Super Champ and Princeton II, Gibson Goldtone, and have played several Marshall's). Great as is for every style except perhaps metal. Awesome for blues and all types of classic-rock, and the clean channel is literally SURF-CITY USA (gorgeous reverb)!! Really 2 amps in one. The clean channel is the BEST I have ever heard. Classic Fender clean. I owned an early 70s Twin which I thought had an awesome clean (and only clean) but this amp is as clean but warmer and more versatile. The mid control can take it from a Twin clean to a 60s Tweed type clean (warmer) by boosting it. The reverb is delicious (but only functions on the clean channel). When mated w/a good compressor it is just unbelievable (w/ my Strats, think Mark Knopfler clean). The distortion side goes from a nice, light crunch to a Marshall-esque grind by boosting the channel volume and mid-range controls (Jimmy Page - I'm there w/ my McCarty). Responds excellently to pick-attack and guitar-volume adjustments. Hit the gain switch on the distortion channel and get a thicker, heavier distortion (but can only be done via the lttle switch on the face of the amp). Mate it w/ a good distortion box and you have unlimited possibilities: I mate it with either a Virtual Sound Route 66 or a ToneBone Classic and short of a Rectifier sound, I get any level of distortion I could ever want (between the amps over-drive channel, gain boost switch, and the pedals). On stage, when put in Triode (cathode) or Pentode (bias) mode (in smaller clubs) and crank it 1/2 to 3/4s (either channel) and this baby REALLY shines! Or, keep it at full power (both cathode and bias combined - different sound texture altogether) and crank it at larger clubs. I get compliments everywhere I play it. Most of the time I don't even need to mike it (in small/medium venues). It really is almost like having BOTH classic Fender and Marshall amps in one (more Fender than Marshall - but both are there if you tweak)! And I have never heard an amp respond so well to adjustments. You literally get new sounds every time you adjust the Treble/Mid/Bass controls. It is THAT GOOD.

Have used it at home extensively for practice, taken it to friends houses to jam, and have gigged with it over the last 1.5 years. Have had no problems except 1 - the footswitch jack in the back came loose and I had to pull the chassis to re-install it (it came completely loose - probably was not tightened completely when constructed) but other than that - no problems of any kind.

Never had to even try and contact them, but read the other reviews - not a bad word said.

I have been playing for over 35 years (25+ either full or part-time professionally) and this is THE AMP I should have had for the years when I did most of my gigging (back when I was young). But now at 47, I am making up for lost time by getting back into a band, and gigging with the amazing Carr Slant 6V every chance I get. Find one and play it - you won't be dissappointed, unless you're looking for modern metal. Other than that, I can't think of a style it is not suited for. The only bad thing I can say is to get the best sound you have to turn it up a bit (and play it long enough to open the speaker up and hear it bloom!), so it is not ideal for bedroom practice. But that is the ONLY bad thing I can say (oh yeah - and it ain't cheap but compared to other boutique amps I looked at - it is 1 of the best values in the boutique line I think)! I'd do what ever I had to do to replace it if I ever lost it.

Two independent, foot-switchable channel amp. 100% tube tone! Has all I ever need. If you would like the details, go to www.carramps.com. I do wish I has an effects loop, but I'm not missing that feature all that much.

I use a Tom Anderson Classic with S/S/S pick-up configuration and a John Suhr Classic with S/S/H configuration. I like playing all kinds of style, but have an affinity towards blues and hard rock.

It has 3 flavors of power settings; full, cathode (18W), or fixed bias (22W). All sound great to me, but of course you can never beat the tone of full power!

The clean has a very classic Fender-ish feel to it, and depending on which power setting you're on, it could sound like a clean Vox as well. You really have to push the clean channel to get it to distort... it stays clean to the bone, even at the highest of volumes! The crunch channel is Marshall-ish, but with a character of its own. Again, depending on the power setting, you can also get a sound very close to an over driven Fender or Vox. I do stress that the Slant6V does not sound exactly like these classic amps... it does get close, but I really love that Carr has added a character of its own to give something different.

I can get great tone at bed room volumes, but, of course, when I start turning it up at full power... oh baby, this thing sings! For the first month, I didn't have any effects running with it... just the guitar straight into the amp. It has a sensitive touch responce that I have never experienced with any other amp I've had or tried. When I finally plugged in my favorite effects from Fulltone, Z. Vex, and Voodoo Lab, it was like rediscoving the joy of playing guitar all over again! I'm sure I was driving my neighbors nuts because I just couldn't put my guitar down.

Note, you're not going to get a Boogie or VHT Pittbull type of heavy metal distortion, but you can get real close. This amp wasn't design to get those sounds anyways, it has a more classic vibe to it.

By the way, the bottom end thumps! Incredible when you consider the Slant6V has only 1x12 in it! Kudos to the cabinet design.

Bottom line: 100% tube tone at its finest!

Take a look inside... over built parts with surgeon like percision point-to-point wiring! This thing is build to last... I'll have it forever. I never gig without a back-up... rules of the road!

Never had to call, so no comment. I hear the people at Carr are very nice!

I've been playing for over 22 years and have all kinds of amps and guitars. I've tested THD Univalve, Bogner Shiva and Metropolis, Dr. Z all of them(I still love!), Marshalls, Fenders, and Top Hats. I'm still going to get a Dr. Z (the new channel switching one!), but this Carr will remain my #1 amp for years to come.

I lucked out with the price because these Carrs are not cheap! But given the fact they use the best parts available on earth and assemble these things to last a lifetime... its well worth full price or used price!

Nothings a 10 overall yet, but I'm still looking!!
