2000 year, 2 channel combo, Kingpin 60 speaker, openback cab, switchable power from Cathode to full power. 40 watts and it's more than enough for any venue I play, we mic amps anyways. I use this amp primarily in a contemporary worship and praise band. Keyboard, bass, drums, percussionist, acoutic guitar, electric guitar (me) and 4 singers. As far as options mine has very few . . but I'll probably have Steve Carr install an effects loop.

Sound Quality : 10
I use several guitars, Music man Silouette with Gibson Clasic 57 humbucker and two carvin singles ( soon to be replaced by Andersons and Suhr's) and a American Standard strat. Suits my style well. It's a very quiet amp at idle, even in the overdrive channel. The clean channel has alot of headroom and really does not break up until the amp is really cranking, then is gets that really nice "fur" to qoute another user.
The distortion is very "open" and very pure. I was disappointed at first with this channel . . but I have sinse seen the light. The overdrive produced is very fat, not "brutal" in the sense that a Boogie rectum frier is, more like a vintage Marshall. No fuzz, just fat overdrive that is extremely responsive to your pick atack. This amp will make you a better player.

Reliability : 10
I hope it's reliable . . lifetime warranty, point-to-point wiring. It's solid but only time will tell.

Steve is great, lifetime warranty, I have no worries.

Been playing around 20 years, on and off, between girlfriends. If it were stolen I'd buy another one after I payed this one off. The clean tone is the best I've heard, period. The overdrive is the most open sounding I've heard and in the end I know this will become more and more attractive to me. I've owned a ton of amps ( Rivera's, Fenders, Marshalls, Boogies (triaxis), H & K Triamp, Egnater (iE4 & combo), then a host of cheap stuff like peavey and solid state junk (no offense intended gang). This indeed is my favorite. the reverb is the best I've owned, the amp sounds fatter, more accurate and has wonderful overtones. I'm in the process of revamping my whole rig, primarily because this amp is worthy of an all true-bypass setup and really nice pedals. I'm even swapping pickups.

I know that a "10" has lost alot of it's meaning since we see real crap
routinely given 8-10's on this website . . this is unfortunate.

If 've ever owned a piece of equipment that deserved a 10, this is it.
This amp stays in my living room rather than my music storage room, I love it, and will keep it, and from me, that means alot.

It represents what I consider a fantastic value, amps that I payed 1000-1400 for really can't compare.

May of 2001, two Channel, a loud 40 watts, switchable to either Cathode, fixed bias, or full.
Looking at one of the other reviews, about the guy who had the reverb put on the lead channel, and the effects out, I guess I kind of do wonder why they didn't do that in the first place. But overall I'm extremely happy with this amp.

Sound Quality : 10
No need to search anymore, it stops right here. This amp has to have the greatest and most unbelievable tone I've ever heard. It's a Fender Blackface, a Mesa Boogie, and a Marshall, or well, actually I think It's better tonally than any of them have been or ever will be. Excellent reverb, beautiful clean sound, and a suped up lead channel that would make even metal heads squirm in ecstasy. Or you can turn the master on the lead channel all the way up and your playing a wonderful Vox AC 30. Ooh that's good!!!

For all the reviews on amps that I've read and know about on this sight, that have been rated 9's and 10's for sound, this should be an eleven.

There's a lot of newer boutique amps coming out that are made of top quality parts and components, Top Hat, Tone King, Dr.Z, all great amps. If your looking for great tone, and want to end this constant search for your sound, it's only a measly 1500.00 to 2500.00 away. You just have to bite it, suck it in, and make the investment. I promise you, in the long run you'll save money and be much happier with your closet playing antics. LOL

There's only one amp I thought sounded slightly better, it was the Imperial, made by Carr. I didn't buy that one because of the weight, 80 pounds. That'll give you mega back problems. The Slant 6V, comes in at around 40 to 45 pounds, and packs a wallup.

Reliability : 10
The second day I had it, I invited a friend over to put the baby to the test. We were trying various different speaker configurations, and through all the excitement of the amps great tones, we forgot to switch the impedance setting and blew up a power tube. (try plugging this into a 412 EV cabinet, or two 15's, you better hold on, it might knock you over.) This problem I solely advocate to my own stupidity and not the amps great build quality.

I haven't really owned this amp long enough to give a good evaluation on this, ( one week ) but judging how it's built, handmade with only top quality components, all the way down to the hospital grade power cord, I would say it might make it through a nuclear blast. ( remains to be seen )

Customer Support : 10
I had to call them to get my tube problem taken care of, and they pretty much bent over backwards to make sure I was taken care of, thanks guys.

Overall Rating : 10
I've been playing for over twenty years, owned almost every Mesa Boogie ever made, well at least ten different models, as well as Fender Twins, the Cyber Twin, Blues Juinor, Deluxe Reverb, and a Marshall JC.. owe whatever, as well as way too many effects to speak of. If I had heard this first, I don't think I would have ever owned anything else. If it were stolen, I would definitely buy another one, and this company makes other great models which I intend to own later.
I'm done, no more shopping for tone, it's over. Thank God!!!

I own a standard Carr Slant 6V combo with a few factory modifications. I had reverb added to the overdrive channel, a boost switch added to the foot controller, and a power stage line out jack put in. The first two modifications I highly recommend, while the line out is a specific addition I needed for certain setups I run.

The reason I bought this amp was for maximum versatility in the smallest package with no sacrificing sound quality. I've played or owned many two (or more) channel amps over the years, but most ended up falling short. At best, they really excelled either clean or overdriven, but failed on the other setting. The Carr Slant 6V is really like having a bi-amp setup in one box. The sound quality and variability of each channel is truly amazing. The clean channel is similar to that of a Fender Super or Twin; crystal clear, lots of low end punch, just spectacular. The overdrive channel is equally amazing. It can be a lot like a Marshall in tone, but with the switchable power stage bias and boost switch the overdrive pallet this amp offers is almost unbelievable.

Both channels are extremely responsive to picking dynamics. The controls are simple effective. The reverb on this amp sounds huge. At first I thought it might be too much, but now that I've used it for a while I find I like it (I generally have it set to about 3 or less). All my effects sound great through it as well as my harmonica, which I often play through my standard guitar rig.

The switchable power amp section lets you select 18 (cathode biased), 22 (fixed bias), or 40 watts (using both stages) on the output. That combines with the impedance selector to offer a range of power amp tones without noticeable changes in output volume. This amp has more than enough power to play any club on its own.

The standard set of features is fairly minimal, which is fine for most, but Steve Carr was very helpful and willing to make custom modifications for me. Effects loops or other features could certainly be added if needed.

Sound Quality : 10
I use this amp with a Gibson Les Paul Standard, Guild S284 (Strat like guitar with EMG pickups, humbucker on the bridge), and harmonica through an SM57. Each sound great and really shines through the Slant 6V. It doesn't favor either input.

I play funk, blue, jazz, and progressive influenced rock music. Songs run the gamut from slow melodic ballads to hard driving rock tunes. This amp's great for all of it. The clean channel is smooth and responsive with tons of headroom. I've cranked it pretty loud and had no noticeable distortion. The overdrive channel can do anything from blues crunch to screaming metal distortion. Even cranked, the overdrive channel remains responsive to playing dynamics. Feedback and sustain is great on the Carr, even at low volumes.

Reliability : 10
I've had my Slant 6V for just over a month now, and thankfully there have been no problems. Judging from the quality of construction alone< I doubt I will have any problems with it in the future either. It's really built like a tank. The really cool thing though, is it doesn't weigh a ton. It's not feather light, but not bad far an all tube combo.

Customer Support : 10
I spoke with Steve Carr (the owner) before, during, and after my order. He was a great help and very pleasant to work with. I can't say enough good things about the whole experience.

Overall Rating : 10
I realize a straight 10 review may seem excessive, but the Carr Slant 6V (IMO) really is that good. I've been playing for over 20 years, and this is without question the best amp I've ever played. If it has any weakness, I'd say it doesn't look like anything special, but styling is unimportant.

Before going with the Carr I tried many other amps including Budda, Soldano, Marshall, Fender, Tophat, Victoria, Orange, and Bogner to name a few. The Carr was hands down the most versatile with absolutely no sacrifice in tone quality over any of the competition. So if your looking to top quality sound in a compact and versatile package, this amps the one.

The other consideration is price. This amp's not cheap, but as I said, it's comparable to having a bi-amp setup, and two top notch amps specialized for either clear or overdrive will run you at least as much if not more. Plus, it saves you the hassle of lugging around and setting up two amps. So even in that regard the Slant 6V's still a great value.

Just purchased a Slant 6V last month. I'll do a more formal posting later (want to use it a while longer) but I need to formally state that Steve Carr's business savvy, total understanding of gigging musicians, and knowledge of of how make one of the best amplifiers in the market is TOPS! My Slant 6V, tonally & structurally, is ON! Strictly from a consumer perspective, I trust Steve to stand behind his products--and by his customers. I have been looking at old Deluxes, RI Deluxes, another Dr. Z, Matchless, Bad Cat amps, Two Rocks, blah, blah, blah ad infinitum for the last 1+ year... comparing, opening up the hood, talking, posting, playing and it came down to one simple and structurally sound design (for me): the Slant 6V. I really don't (or didn't) have any customer loyalty but now maybe I have a better sense of what that is. Sure, my amp is tube and is bound to need a little TLC in years to come but what I bought into was Steve's sense of a solid product that will, I'm convinced, help me bring it on home for many a year to come. Any doubts about a Carr amp? Nope. I have invested in the cream of the crop and am quite convinced that I got a hard MF amp and my money's worth, to boot. Big thanks to Steve, Tim & Forrest and all the other folks (incl my brother) who helped turn me on to Carr amps.
