I needed a speaker for my 212 cab I built and am playing an all tube 50w Crate GT-50h through it. The second speaker is an Eminence V12 8 ohm 120w. The V12 is well broken in, Carvin is new. The V12 is VERY smooth and mellow. You can't get it sound harsh, love it. I wanted a speaker with a little character to balance out the cab.
The Carvin is advertised to emulate a Vintage 30. I'm not sure it does because I haven't personally compared the two. I directly compared it to the V12 and it has a lot more mid and sounds thick. But this speaker has good tone. It definitely has very early break-up. This thing is putting out a gritty distortion with the volume at the lowest setting while the V12 is holding strong and clean. I have to turn the treble way down on the amp or the speaker starts get spikey. The head room on my clean channel had been reduced as well. Keep in mind, this speaker only has about 30-60 minutes on it. I'm hoping it smooths out a bit when broken in.

I bought it at the factory showroom. Nice guys, beautiful guitars. I live 20 min from the Carvin factory and 25 min from the Taylor factory.

Plinking for 15 years, more seriously the last 6 months. The price was right and so far, it seems to sound like the descriptions of the V30.
Still deciding if the V30 sound is right for me.

Carvin products has never disappointed me. I knew their speaker is good without even listening to it. I already own a Carvin SX200 loaded with Carvin BR12s and love those speakers. I have that much trust on Carvin. I got tired of stock Fender Eminence speaker that came with my Fender Hot Rod Deluxe. I already replaced the stock tubes with JJ ECC83S's High Gain Preamp and 6L6GC Power Tubes. I bought the Carvin GT-12 8ohm 100w Speaker for $59.00

The stock Fender speaker is flat and lifeless at high volume. It was so easy to get muddy sound. I was after a smooth, clean, and well rounded sound. Enter Carvin. The new speaker took out the flabbiness and harshness. It was smooth, clean, well rounded and defined. The tone is incredible. I have a fat low bottom, smooth mids, and silky highs. This speaker has balance. It can handle clean and mega distortion with ease. The sound never gets garbled nor muddy even at the high volume. It remains clean and well define. For $59.00, it is bargain.

I have been playing for 25 years. If it was lost or stolen, I would be sad. I believe what comes around goes around. This speaker is the bomb. I am sadden that Carvin no longer carries them. If you happen to find them in eBay, snag them because they are good. I was lucky enough to buy a Carvin VE212 loaded with GT-12s. They compliment my Legacy 2x12 (loaded with Vin30) cab. My tone is not about how loud or how distorted my amp gets. My tone is about clarity, smoothness, well define, well rounded, and silky on clean or the overdrive channel on my amp. These speakers just to do for me.

12" 100 watt speaker that covers all frequencies brilliantly!!! Solid, tight bottom end, great mids and silky highs! Carvin describes this product just as stated in their ad.

I use a Custom Strat and I mainly play Rock, Metal and Blues and it covers it all very very well. Playing clean styles was also the same...really punchy and spanky!

Been playing for 25+ years and have used many types of speakers and this one is certainly the best buy yet. This speaker is in my Line 6 and I upgraded it to a 100 watter 'cause I am running a tube preamp thru the effects loop which by the way does wonders for the tone and feel of the amp. This preamp has also boosted the power so the Eminence, which I hated from day one was the first to go. I then put a Mesa MC-90 in it and I truly loved it!!! What a tremendous difference...but I loaned it out and upon expecting the levels on the preamp (4 is the max it should be on but it was on 6...OUCH!!!) Therefore the speaker overextended and creased...didn't blow the voice coil though...it still works but at lower volumes. I didn't want to take the other Mesa out of the 4x12 cabinet so Carvin was the best bang for your buck...and it was a very wise choice. I actually had a JBL 150-watter in there between the time the Mesa went and the Carvin arrived...but it was a speaker voiced for PA applications and not guitar so it just didn't work out...plus it weighed a ton! The Carvin is considerably lighter! If I ever need to get another speaker it will certainly be another Carvin!
