2 12" Celestion Vintage 30s in a closed back cabinet. It's pretty basic and it's been covered, pretty much. The front is metal, not grill cloth, so it's very distinctive looking.
I wish I could change impendence with a switch and/or make it stereo. (It's single input mono from the factory.) I've considered installing a switch, but just haven't gotten around to it.
I currently use this with a JCM2000 DSL401. It's a great cabinet for using with that amp. I'm going to move it to my JCM800 4010, though, and get a different cab for the DSL.
It gets a 8 for features. It'd get a 10 with dual inputs and/or impedence switch.

It's got fantastic sound when coupled with a quality amp. We play mostly classic rock and some more modern rock. It gives body to the JCM2000 that it's lacking (the stock Marshall/Celestion Heritage isn't so great). It makes the JCM800 sound even warmer to me.
It's set for 120W max (2 x 60watt speaker), so it's more than enough for what I want.

It's pretty basic and built ruggedly. I don't foresee any problems arising with it.

Carvin shipped me this cabinet accidentally. I ordered the Ve212 British Back loaded cab. There's about $140 difference between the two. They decided since it was their mistake that I got to keep the cabinet for the price of the VE212. That seemed pretty generous to me. Other interactions wtih Carvin sales and support were extremely well handled. They know what they are talking about and truly seem to care about helping the customer out. They are second only to Marshall (not KorgUSA, but Marshall!) in being customer oriented and helpful.

I've been playing for about 15 years, though only seriously for the past 10 or so. I've got a 90 Les Paul Standard and a 98 Les Paul Special SL for electric guitars, a Takamine 12 string acoustic, and a pair of Marshall amps (a JCM2000 DSL401 and a JCM800 4010). This cabinet feels like it belongs with the rest of my gear. I had considered Marshall cabinets, but Carvin had great products for much lower prices. It's quality stuff and I'm considering buying either another Legacy cabinet or a closeout VE212 with British Backs. It's worth looking at the Carvin gear...don't pass it by.

Amazing sound! I was almost considering getting the legacy head after hearing my jcm dsl head clean up through it, but I'm pretty attached to my marshall. This is an awesome little cab. I was playing a 4x12 marshall with gt 75's but it was harsh sounding and very bulky to lug around. This cab lets my amp shine in a broader range of music styles. My amp breaks up earlier now and I don't have to turn it way up to get a good distortion sound, and when I actually do turn it up it absolutely crushes. I could say it's all my amp but the difference between this and the marshall cab is night and day.

Awesome. I wish buying everything was as easy as this was. To top it off it's the best cab I've played through beating marshall hands down(sorry) and more articulate than mesa at less than half the price. I know I must sound like an advertisement but vintage 30's in a well constructed maple cab for only 329 + shipping? Seems too good to be true.

I have two of these. Both were made in 1999. Features covered adequately in prior reviews, so no need repeating. The one feature I would like is the ability to adjust the ohms instead of being stuck at 8 ohms.

Your signal really is only as good as your weakest link. You can't stress enough how important it is to have great speakers as part of your rig. Great guitar, great pickups, great amp: none matter if your speakers turn your signal to mud. Too many people miss the importance of the speakers. If you're using these, your speakers definitely are not your weak link.
I play a variety of styles including oldies from the 60s and 70s, 80s new wave, power pop and punk. No jazz or country. I dabble in other material, but 99% of what I play is one of the 4 styles I mentioned above. I've got both humbucker and single coil guitars, as well as both semi-hollow and solid body guitars. I use a bunch of different amps - solid state and tube - depending on the sound I am looking for.
These speakers handle overdriven signals beautifully: nice harmonics, good clarity and fantastic note definition. They also make any clean signal shine. In my 20+ years of playing, these are the best sounding and most versatile speakers I have ever heard. Putting them into a 2 X 12 cabinet means I can setup without risking a disc herniation. (A 4 X 12 cab with these speakers would sound even better, but it would be just too bulky and heavy).
NO MATTER WHAT I AM PLAYING, MY CELESTION-EQUIPPED CARVIN LEGACY CABINETS ARE THE KEY TO GREAT SOUND.

Speaker cabinets are a pretty simple product. If they are well built, they should last for quite a while. Carvin has always struck me as being fairly well put together gear, so I am confident in the quality of my cabs.
I play live running both of these out of the same amp, so there is no backup. I'll probably pick up a third one of these soon so I can have a backup for that "just in case" inevitable eventuality.

Been playing 20+ years and have a commplete arsenal of guitars and amps. I was looking for 4 X 12 sound qualities in a lighter package. Before buying these, I looked at and played other 2 X 12 and 4 X 12 cabs.
If lost or stolen, I would replace them immediately with another Carvin 2 X 12 Legacy cabinet.
These are great sounding cabs! Whatever guitar and amp combination I play is always run through these cabs...no exceptions. I highly recommend them to anyone who is looking to improve the sound quality they are getting out of their combo amp with stock speakers or who is looking for great speakers to deliver the best possible sounds out of their amp head.

This cab was made in 2001. All the new cabs come with Celestion Vintage 30's x 2. One speaker jack so it's a mono cab. Black Tolex covering and a black metal grill protecting the speakers.

This dude can really crank! I play my 15 watt Fender Pro Jr. through it with a Mesa Boogie V-Twin preamp pedal. My guitars ard a '78 Fender Strat w/ Duncan "Hot Rails" and 5 position switch, and a Carvin AC 175 Acoustic Electric (cool guitar w/ great sound and action). The cab makes my little amp sound like a monster! I am really happy with the tone. Nice smooth distortion and tone. I prefer the "open back" sound, so I take off the removable back (8 wood screws) to get that sound. I plan to get a Rivera Rake 55 head to go with this cab soon. I bet it will sound even better.

This thing is built like a tank. Not much to go wrong. My only gripe is the cheesy plastic carrying handle. I've only picked the cab up a half dozen times so far and the handle is showing intense wear already. Might need a new handle soon. Every else is cool. I think the cab is rated at 8 ohms, and like I mentioned before it's a mono cab.

When I went to pick up the cab, the Carvin store only had the demo in stock. I was bummed, but they offered to let me keep the demo until a brand new cab came in from the factory. Two weeks later (today) I picked it up. Generally Carvin has been pretty good about exchanging stuff. I also bought a Carvin tuner about a year ago. The tuner was terrible. I took it back and they refunded my money on the spot and apologized. That was pretty cool.

I've been playing guitar for about 25 years. I've mostly had combo amps before. But I am really enjoying the extra "air" you can push with one of these cabs. I play worship in church and occassional solo gigs. This cab really does the trick for me. I play rock/alternative/folk/worship and the cab has a nice quality whether I am playing my Fender Strat, or my Carvin Acoustic/Electric. Really nice cab. Excellent value if you are looking to buy a 212 cab (w/ Vintage 30's!)

There is nothing I dont like about this cab. It is $170 less than a Soldano counterpart. Its $70 less than a Marshall counterpart that doesn't have as good speakers, or construction. ITs the best value for a cab on the market. I haven't tried the 4x12 but I bet its just as good. Carvin makes great stuff

This is a great sounding 2-12 cab. 2-12 green backs. Can sound like a 4-12 closed back or an open back. It will make any combo amp sound much better. I have tried it with a Trademark 60 and a Fender delux and a Marshall 100w superlead/w an attenuator. Not quite a 4-12 greenback cab but .....almost with much less back strain....

The folks at Carvin are very friendly and helpful...but they got my order screwed up and werte not that knowledgeable on some minor things....Like does the cover fit ...or is it a cover that is used for the amp which is taller...they said ..you may have to tuck the bottom under...Anyway, the cover fit perfectly.

Played with my Trainwreck Express the Legacy Extension 2x12 cab sounds excellent. The Celestion speakers really shine in this cab. These speakers really like to be pushed. Clean tones are open, warm and clear. Cranked tones are tight, thick and focused. This cab never sounds "boxy",distant, or congested. Different player tried the set up with various guitars (Strat-style, Les Paul, and PRS) and everyone agreed that both open and closed back modes sounded great (the final set-up would be the choice of the particular player). I chose closed back with the cabinet standing up.
I took the cab out to a gig this week and everyone (on stage and in the audience) agreed that cab sounded excellent; sound dispersion was excellent and the tone was clear, warm, punchy.
My Set-Up: PRS Custom or Fralin loaded Strat Copy
Vox Reissue Wah
Arion Chorus
George L Cables
Trainwreck Express (EL34s)
Airbrake (power attenuator)
Carvin/Legacy 2x12 Extension Cab
Note: lead tones were achieved by cranking the amp into the attenuator and then pushing the speaker (output distortion+speaker break-up)

This cabinet is built really well. A friend who does a lot of wood work said the construction was solid and well done. The only problem I can forsee is maybe blowing the speakers by pushing them too hard (which would be my fault). But I love the sound of running my amp/speaker set-up on the "edge" :-)

When ordering this cabinet the sales/tech support person on the line was very helpful and a pleasure to deal with. The best. I had alot of questions which were promptly answered. I'm normally hesitant about phone ordering but this transaction was the smoothest. Friends of mine who have dealt with Carvin in the past told me that that's how they treat all their customers.

My favorite cabinet of all time is an old 4x12 Marshall (straight front) loaded with 25 watt Pre-Rola Greenback Celestions. But it's not a very practical cab to bring to most gigs (space limitations and weight). The Carvin 2x12 is a great practical gigging cab. Light, compact, and sounds great. This cabinet is the best deal around.
