This is the most versatile 10" guitar speaker I've heard.

Sound Quality : 8
When I initially got the 410 cabinet, I thought these speakers don't sound at all like the Jensens they are supposed to emulate. That was until I compared my 410 to my friend's Victoria Bandmaster copy (3x10 Jensens). I was actually very impressed with how similar they sounded. My friend and I agreed that most of the difference had to do with the fact that the Carvin v10 is a 65watt speaker. Usually, 2 different models from the same maker are radically different, but while it lacks the chimey quality of the Jensen, the v10 actually sounds like the Jensen's cousin who likes to play metal as much as blues.

Carvin has been excellent in my experience!

Overall Rating : 9
As a full-time musician, I've owned/used almost everything and am now very happily settled with my Fractal AxeFx through a Carvin power amp and 410 cab. I'm extremely happy with these speakers. I got an amazing deal on the cab. Even though the 410 was under $300 new, I would pay more for it since they don't make them anymore. It's a very good cabinet with very good speakers.

They are speakers.... 10 inch, 65 watts, ceramic magnet. Nobody has reviewed any speakers (so far as I can tell), so I'm starting a new trend...

Sound Quality : No Opinion
These are not bad speakers. I've heard bad things about Carvin speakers, but mostly from vintage amp buffs and DIY'ers who prefer alnico magnet, inefficient, low wattage speakers that distort and strain under a 15 watt tweed push pull 6V6 tweed circuit amp. Obviously to get sweet vintage sounds you usually want an alnico magnet speaker with low watts that will get pushed to it's limits at low volume. Using the carvin speakers for this will obviously yield a poor sound.
However, using these speakers for all out high modern gain with my Mesa Boogie has yielded surprisingly nice results. They stay clear and focused with none of the flab the previous celestions I had produced. I use four of them in a closed back cab. At 65 watts each they are very efficien and hardy, and have a clear tone. What more could I ask for? My cheesy high gain amp produces all the distortion I need, not running the speaker hot. and I can finally stop worrying about cranking it and blowing the speaker.

Reliability : 9
Like I said, at 65 watts with 4 of them, no worries on failure. I'm thinking of getting some 12" to replace my current celestions. (for high gain--not 'real' gain, i.e. vintage tone amps).

bought used, dealt with carvin before, not so great...

owned too much crap, but with these speakers I finally get peace of mind...after using low wattage speakers that fart out and get flabby, I don't have to worry about blowing my speakers out and can proceed to deafen my bandmates (they still don't use earplugs...) without fear of speaker failure.
