Celestion Heritage G12H. 30W, 55hz, 15 ohms. Supposed to be built to the original specs of the 60's G12H's.
I used these in two Bogner 4x12 straight cabs with a Bogner Ubershall & a Custom Audio Electronics OD-100 Classic +.

These speakers take a bit to break in but they are a good overall sounding speaker if you need to cover many different styles/tones. At 100dB they are loud! They are a bit bright overall. But paired up with the right amp & tubes they can be great.

A good articulate speaker. Very versatile and will cover many different styles well. Somewhat bright and very loud. Takes some time to get them broken in but can be a great choice. Not really the same sound as the originals but still good none the less.

Features of the speaker are that it is a H for heavy magnet. This gives it 100db sensitivity which is good. Also the bass does not compress at volume like a greenback G12M-25 does with it's medium magnet. Not much power handling but still twice that of a Celestion Blue which really is not powerful enough for much at all.

These came out in 1994 so thankfully they were not around in the 80's to be part of the metal tone market because they wouldn't suit. The G12M-70 and G12T-75 speakers became the 80's metal speakers of the day and they are a far cry tonally from what this speaker is.
The G12H is rich and thick sounding. There is nothing brittle about it. It has beautiful clean tones, wonderful overdriven sounds, and smooth high gain sounds all with good harmonic content. Pick attack and clarity are good, and the sound hold's together well as the volume increases.

That Dr. Decibel dunno if it's one guy, but they offer clear understandable advice on the celestion range. I did ask once if 60 watts of speaker could be driven by a 60 watt valve amp. The answer was yes without any question marks, if's or buts. Clearly though if you are running your amp overdriven in the power stage it's running way over 60 watts and you will cook the speakers for sure. For a big name company they are very helpful.

I chose these to the exclusion of all other speakers. Slide on over to scumbucket to check out the differences in tone between high/low 75Hz/55Hz resonance and M/H medium/heavy magnets. The H75 was the one for me. That's what these Celestions are, only they are the original maker of them. I really feel these are an exceptional speaker as they were released for the 70th aniversary so you would not release rubbish for that. No, these are the real deal. They sound like you're in 1969-74 listening to Led Zep or Hendrix. They cost a little more than the Vintage 30 but the V30 is rubbish so it's a waste of money. These ARE a vintage speaker, whereas there is nothing vintage about a vintage 30 other than the name.

The G12H30 Heritage has taken a few days to start breaking in, but it's getting there, and it's sounding great. I'm running it in a 1x12 Cornford Hurricane in place of the Vintage 30 that comes stock with this combo. The broken in V30 sounds really nice with the Hurricane, but it's emphasis is more on the mid range frequencies. The G12H Heritage is bringing out some articulate, but smoother sounds in the higher and lower ranges. Each speaker, broken in, does what it does beautifully. I'm looking to get a mojo tweed combo cab that holds both 12's to fill out all frequencies.

Been playing on and off since 1972. I'm currently using a Les Paul Custom, a Flying V98, and an Eric Johnson Strat through a Cornford Hurricane with the G12H Heritage. I have a Marshall 1960AV cab with V30's as an extension cab. If it were lost, I would replace it when I could afford one again.

i tried them all,and i do mean all(celestion) makes, these are the ones they sound great for clean rock and even high gain lotsa bottom end they stay tight and focused the vintage 30 have a bit more punch but the g12h have much better mids and sweatness i curently run them trough a marshall 1960b cab conected to a splawn pro mod amp,and i play a les paul 1960 classic and this is the sound this is tone.....
the greenbacks dont have enough clarity and can sound a bit fizzy
the v30's are a nice speaker as well they have punch and clarity
the g12t 75 have lotsa highs lotsa bass but not enough mids
the g12-65 can sound great but denpending on witch amp you use but on most amps they have to much highs and the mids are a little dark
now the g12h 30's have clarity defenition lotsa bass clear highs and sweat sweat mids,,,,and remember the tone is all in the mids.....

I installed this speaker in my Peavey Classic 30 1x12 combo. When using the Normal channel (clean) it gave the amp a nice, subtle clarity. I guess I would describe it as, "air". But this extra high treble made me a little nervous about hitting the drive switch. :O
Sure enough, using the drive channel, the G12H turned my Peavey into a slighty buzzy Marshall. Hmm, now that I think of it, it sounded like a Marshall DSL 40 watt combo. GREAT low end, beefy low-mids, and sweet mids, but I lost my soft/smooth high-end overdrive harmonics of the factory Blue Marvel speaker. :(
I must say, the Celestion G12H had a better high-volume break-up, compared to the Blue Marvel. The Blue seemed to lose control. That's the main reason I turned to Celestion... but I wasn't counting on the harsh buzz.

I went back to the Blue Marvel for the silky smooth notes, but if you're looking for the classic Celestion/Marshall tone, with an emphasis on distortion, this is your speaker.
For it's thick tone and nice high-volume break-up, and looking past the gritty buzz, I give it a seven. And it looks great in an open-back cabinet. Purdy. :)

Unreal and abundant HARMONICS in a Fender Deluxe Reverb!
Sound Quality
:

I put one of these reissue speakers in a reissue Fender Deluxe Reverb and got blown away by the tone and especially by the amount of harmonics coming off every string! I'm playing a Reverend Slingshot. I found myself playing solos on the low strings with the neck pickup. That's usually too muddy but with this combination the harmonics gave the notes plenty of definitive and a ton of character....juicy! It made me think the high strings would be too thin but they had all this character and rich harmonics too. I'm starting to see that this kind of harmonic content makes your sound huge no matter what strings you're on. It sounded so good it was almost distracting. Like being with someone that is so attractive that you can't stop looking at them and so you.......well.......never mind.

I guess it might actually be a 30 watt speaker. I keep reading that the Vintage 30 is rated at 60 watts so maybe this one is too?

What an amazing speaker! I tried the Celestion Alnico Blue which also sounded transcendental but I got enough cone cry out of it on some high notes that I had to try some different speakers which actually broke my heart at the time....Now I'm glad I moved on. I tried about eight good speakers in the Deluxe before I tried this one. This one takes the cake. These guys get pigeon holed into being good for low end when in fact they also have the coolest high end on the planet for Blues. Happy playing.

PRS McCarty Stock P/ups, Les Paul 59 Reissue Classic 57 P/ups,American tele Seymour Alnico pro 2 p/ups,Les Paul special d/c P90's,Hamer archtop Custom. I play Blues/70's rock, also play in a 60's band.I a/b three 2x12 cabs one with Greenbacks,one with Vintage 30's and one with G12h30's.I used a Marshall 50watt 2205 ,a marshall 2555 100watt also a Cornford MK50 head.
I was surprised to hear that the G12h30 had the best overall tone, not so edgy as the Greenbacks and more presence and bite than the Vintage 30.Also I have found that the bottom end on vintage30's can be a bit overpowering, particularly when loaded in a 4x12

I have been playing for about 40 years in various bands playing everything from heavy metal to what I call wallpaper music at Weddings/functions
Over the years I've tried most guitar/amp combinations Boogie/Fender ETC but I think I have at last found my own Holy Grail of guitar tone.
An old Marshall and these speakers just do it for me.

I have tryed alot of amps and speakers looking for this tone. I love vintage Celestion tone and untill I got these I wasnt satisfied. I have two of them in a Marshall JTM60 combo. I play a Gibson 61 reissue SG and Les Paul Jr. The tone is awesome! Sounds like AC/DC's High Voltage or Black Sabbath Paranoid CD. Both guitars unique tone comes out warm and nasty. Lots of harmonics. These are much better than Greenbacks. They are more classic sounding than Vintage 30's. The Vintage 30's seem louder and punchier. They seperate the notes better when playing heavy chords or fast licks. But they dont have the VINTAGE tone of the G12H. I think the Vintage 30's sound harsh sometimes. The G12H's are warm and 'woody' sounding.

i've been playing for 27 years. i have a few lp's a few strats some marshalls and a tweed bassman. i also have boxes of speakers that i bought that don't sound the way i was told they would or are just a bad attempt at recreating vintage tone. these speakers have what i've been looking for. i don't kn ow why they just didn't make these again in the first place instead of jerking around with all these "almost there" reissues. go figure! oh yeah, i give these a 10 and like i said i'll be buying more.
