60 watts power handling, 12"....it's a speaker

Sound Quality : 10
I bought this speaker as a replacement for the stock 70/80 in my Vox modeler AD50VT. This purchase was basically a last resort before ultimately deciding "I'm not going to bond with this amp....". It truly woke this amp up. Tight bass, punchy mids, sparkling highs, totally predictable and easily controllable breakup at all volume levels, perfectly balanced and incredibly versatile. ALL of the uninspiring muddy characteristics of the stock speaker are history. The Vintage 30 is just a perfect match for the ad50vt and I'm now thinking I should try it in some of my other amps.

Have been pushing this speaker HARD for about two weeks now. My gut tells me she's super reliable.

Who knows? Hope I don't have to find out.

In 30 years of playing, this is the best sounding and most versatile guitar speaker I've heard.

Very heavy magnet, but thats about all it had over the Celestion 75 and 100's. I really wanted to love these speakers but they fell short.

Sound Quality : 6
I tested these against 4 year old Celestion 75's and brand new T100's. The differance came through when playing muted chords. The low kick of the 75's and the 100's really wasn't there so I started trying to add bass to see if it just needed more, but the effect was as if the shoe just didn't fit. The speaker sounded like it was missing tone. I tested one at a time then in a 2x12 cab, then in combination with the 75's and in combination with the 100's. In combination I couldn't set the tone properly at all. The 30's needed more bass, but too much bass made the 75's sound too dark or overly bass filled. These speakers would be great for covering Journey or Pink Floyd, not Linkin Park, Alice In Chains, Disturbed or newer tone heavey sound.

Great for Classic rock, thats what they were going for I bet. I think the guitar tone of the classic sound was very mid range full. That is the sound of these Speakers. Nice, but you can still get that sound and more from the 75's or 100's. I did more testing than anyone I know and I feel my results are right on. I am sure that in a 4x12 cab the bass would come through a bit more, but one on one the tone did not surpass the 75 or 100.

Its a ceramic magnet speaker 30watts rms, nuff said.

First off, I'd like to add some info to the g12-75 vs. g12 vintage 30 debate. Both are great speakers, with different tonal qualities. Contrary to most of the reviews when I replaced my g12-75's with g12 vintage(after this i ran both together) in my marshall 1960b cab, I found with the g12v-30 I had to raise my midrange from 1/2 to 3/4, lower my bass from 100% to 3/4 and lower my treble from 90% to 1/2(gibson les paul w/emg81/85, boss metal zone, fender 12ax7/12at7 pre amp, peavey 100w el84 power amp)to get a bad ass balanced sound:good bottom chunk, midrange bite, and keep the high end from being too overpowering, despite all the reviews saying that the g12v-30 has a more pronounced midrange and less "scooped" sound than the g12-75. So in my case the g12-75 actually had less bottom end, more mids, and less highs than the g12v-30. As I said both are badass speakers in their own unique way, so now I run both together.

Never had a problem 10+ years. Cranked 200w rms tube through 4x12 g12v-30's and they don't even break a sweat.

never dealt with them.

Been playing pro level for 10+ years. played on & owned them all, marshall, mesa, line 6, vox, randall, peavey, fender, hiwatt, hughes and kettner, carvin, etc., yet i keep coming back to marshall cabs w/celestions for my distorted sounds, and fender combo's w/ celestions for my clean sounds. either way celestions have always been the final source for great tone, that could be why so many manufacturers use them!

It's a speaker in a box. what else is there?

Sound Quality : 10
I've recently purchased a American Fender Lonestar Strat but only had a solid-state POS to play it through. With my limited budget I bought the best value in tube amps that I could find, the blues Jr. For over-drive/distortion I got the tube-driven VOX Bulldog distortion pedal(highly reccomended) paired with my Seymour Duncan Pick-up Booster pedal, and for a while I was happy. I finally had the tube sound I was looking for, kind of...
The more I played the Jr., I noticed that the clean was not clean enough and the overdrive lacked the balls that I wanted. My mind could only think of one thing....Celestion. I considered the Alnico Blues, however a speaker more expensive than the amp itself seemed stupid, so I was talked in to buying the Vintage 30, semi-reluctantly. I threw it in the Jr. when I got home and was blown away. This was a totally new amp. Lows, mids, highs: all clear. Overdrive had balls of steel, but was also clear. what really amazed me was the higher frets on the b and e strings; no mud. The amp sounds twice as "big" as a day before. It was beautiful. plus it is a blues jr. I could not be happier for the money. I've also heard it in the Hot rod deluxe with the same results. It makes these mediocre amps sound spectacular.

I've playing quite some time now. I play a few different instruments in all sorts of musical styles and know what sounds good. I have not heard many different guitars through the amp or the 30 in many different amps, but the Jr. isn't the best or most versatile amp, and this speaker transformed it into a work of art. I highly reccommend it in any fender amp and would give it a shot if you ary at all unhappy with your current rig. It has finally put an end to my spending for a great guitar sound.

60 watt handling, 16-ohm, what else? It's a speaker! I give it a 10 because this speaker is so versatile in covering different music styles!

Sound Quality : 10
I find it amazing that opinions differ so much on this speaker! I've spent way more money buying and testing speakers that my wife was comfortable with, and the vintage 30 was by far the winner. The cleans have SO much character and body, as does mild overdrive tones. Crank up the gain and you have AWESOME rhythm sounds that maintain note clarity in chording. Maybe the best sounds from this speaker are the solo tones. The mids are so smooth and just pronounced enough to cut through, while still sounding thick. Keep in mind my musical interests in no particular order: blues, all rock from 70's to today, aggressive rock/metal, and all combinations of above. No jazz, country, etc. so I can't comment on how this speaker responds to these styles.

Reliability : 10
I run two 16 ohm speakers in a semi-open back cab(8 ohm cab), which amounts to a 120 watt cab into a 100 watt tube head. I haven't had any problems. I wouldn't recommend exceeding the power rating on these speakers!

Ive been playing 20 years. Some of the speakers I've used to compare these are: celestion G12T-75, G1230H Anniversary, Shetfield(5150 cab), Carvin British series, and numerous others that I don't recall the model #'s. Amps I've used are Rivera KR-100 and Pubster, Carvin Legacy, Mesa Nomad, Marshall TSL60, Carvin X100-B, Mesa Dual Rectifier. Guitars include PRS, Fender Strat, Ibanez w/JB Duncans. IMHO, the vintage 30's sounded best with all of these amps and guitars-no exceptions!
In short, I know there are many, many speakers I have not tried, but after hearing the vintage 30's, I just couldn't stop smiling! I'm completely satisfied with my speakers, and if you knew me, that's all that needs to be said!
