Like everyone says....fat and focused bass, rich and sparkling highs and minimal mids. The character of the tone is a lot like playing octaves on your guitar, think Randy Rhoads on Diary of a Madman (even though these weren't made back then). Turn your amp's bass to 10 and treble to 5 and you'll get the heaviest bottom end you've ever heard.

These speakers are much more than most people give them credit for. Not just a scooped-mids speaker that you can use to play metal....makes it sound like you wouldn't want it unless you're in a Slayer cover band.
The 75 produces the best distortion tones of any speker ever made and has played a revolutionary role in the course of Alternative Rock. Let me point out that all bands from the 90's to present, noted for their guitar tone, use these speakers....Chili Peppers, Radiohead, Rage Against the Machine, Smashing Pumpkins, Primus, Nirvana, Alice in Chains, Tool, Pearl Jam, Jane's Addiction, Soundgarden and the list goes on.

If you prefer the sounds of the 70's bands to those above, i.e. Skynerd, Bad Company, Zeppelin, the Who, etc., buy Vintage 30's, you can get great tone out of those too, just not 90's tones.

It's built well, and theres plenty of power. Enough said.

Sound Quality : 10
The Celestion G12T-75's are fitted as standard in my Marshall 1960 4x12 (used with a Valvestate 8200 head) and also in my Sessionette:75 solid state practice/small gig amp. For clean sounds and driven sounds the speaker sounds pretty good, clear, plenty of bass and high end but with a little EQ boost to the Mids a fuller sound can be achieved. I generally use Strats or SGs, and both single coil and humbucker sounds are to my liking.

However it's when you start using distortion or heavy overdrive that the speaker shows it's true potential. When producing guitar sounds I often use a speaker simulator to get a feel for the sound, and it's comforting to know that when I actually use these sounds through the amp it actually sounds better, crisper than before. Just remember that with these speakers a good few hours playing at high volume is recommended to "break-in" the speakers.

If you play rock and/or metal but want a speaker with a little diversity then this one is for you. If you prefer a warm, resonant tone and play Blues I think Celestion's Vintage range is better suited to your style.

Reliability : 10
I've done some pretty stupid things with these speakers, for example using the effects return of my amp and pulling out the cable with the amp still on which produced a horrible high pitched whining noise, which, surprisingly, has had no effect on the speaker. Add to this Celestion's excellent reliability record built up over the last 50 years and I don't think there's any problems.

Customer Support : 9
I've never needed to get in contact with Celestion however I have a feeling that if the customer support was bad then they wouldn't be quite as successful :-)

Overall Rating : 10
This is a classic speaker - as it says on Celestion's website, the best-selling guitar speaker ever. No other speaker sounds as good to me as this one does.

What can I say about features on a speaker. It is rated at 75 watts and has a35 oz. magnet.

Sound Quality : 10
I use basically a dimarzio tone zone in bridge. The speaker replaced the stock speaker in a princeton 65 amp.At first I wasnt overly impressed but in another review I read they said a new speaker needs to be broken in.After acouple of hours of play the speaker smoothed right out.The only thing I dont like about this speaker is the application Im using it for hence it would have a deeper bass in an enclosure than in acombo amp.The bass response is exceptional but on the high end the sound is very articulate and focused.Oh yeah! also i use adod death metal and an ibanez smashbox.

Reliability : 10
Im not really about this.I have heard of and have sperkers last for years. One thing said celestions reputation is of courseis unparalleled.

Customer Support : 8
I never dealt with them personally.Iheard they are reliable. And my guess is the speaker is probably warranted for one year.

Overall Rating : 10
Overall this is agreat speaker. But of course I think all celestions are great speakers. You just need it to fill a useable application.

Not much to say in features department. It has a 5.25 lb magnet and comes in a variety of independences. My are 8 ohms.

Sound Quality : 9
I have these in a Jenkins Sound Shop 2x12. After I broke them in, I was very pleased with the low end and high end response. The mids are cut a bit much to my liking as I want to do that throught my amp (VHT Pitbull)EQ. Clean sounds are nice, but I think a more midrangy speaker would do better for that aplication. The speaker also does not break up in the least. This speaker is made for gain, and it handles it very well.

Reliability : 10
When I looked at the speakers I was surprised at how thick the cone paper was. It took several hours of high volume playing to break these speakers in and loosen that thick paper. This says a lot about how well the speakers will hold up.

If you play hard rock or metal, this is a great choice, particuarly if you are playing through a 1x12 or 2x12 because of the great bass response. Classic rock is well served by these, too. However, for more subdued playing styles, you might want a greenback or even stray away from ceremic speakers altogether. In a 4x12, I might prefer V30s or G12H-30s (which is what I have in my 4x12 now)for a flatter frequency response.

12Inch 75 watt classic guitar speaker. I replaced the poor stock 12inch speakers in my Crate 4x12 cabinet with these beauties.

Sound Quality : 10
I use both my Les Paul Studio, and Fender Lead III, equipt with a Duncan Screamin Demon at the bridge, through the Carvin Legacy VL100 head and Crate. What an awe inspiring sound comes out of those 4 Celestions. Huge bass response and vibrant highs make for a brutal sound, when using the lead channel. The clean channel also has great lows and glassy highs. Some people favor the Vintage 30's, but I love the harsh sound of these speakers. I feel more confident with the heavy duty aspect of these G12t-75's, which can easily handle the extreme high gain and distortion like a gladiator!

Reliability : 10
It's too early to say anything yet because I just got these speakers recently. However, I am not worried about problems due to the fact that Celestion has a great reputation, and their products are just about everywhere in the music industry.

Customer Support : 10
Before I purchased the speakers, I e-mailed Celestion a question about their product and how I would utilize my current 4x12 cab with they're speakers. I recieved a response within a day and not only did I recieve valuable information, but I also was promptly mailed a brochure with recent pricing list.

Overall Rating : 10
I have been playing for 18 years and besides the Legacy, I also own a Marshall JTM 312 combo, a 67' Fender Vibrolux, half a dozen Boss stomp effects, Crybaby Wah, Big Muff, Vox distortion booster, Korg distortion processor, Smokey mini amp and Marshall micro amp. If any of my equipment was stolen I would probably go to my insurance co. and hopefully get an exact replacement. As a final note, it is up to the individual player to use they're ear and find the sound that pleases them most and not go with a trend as others do.

They are kick ass 12" speakers... they get a 10 cause they sound great.

Sound Quality : 10
They came standard in my Marshall JCM900 1960A cab. They reproduce the highs and lows very well, but lack mids (just the way I like). They are the ideal metal and rock speaker!

Reliability : 10
They are 75 watts a piece, the cab handles 300 watts, I don't think I will be able to blow them with a 120 watt amp. They are new so won't dry rot any time soon.

Customer Support : No Opinion
Never had to deal with 'em

Overall Rating : 10
Like I said, they are standard in my Marshall cab.... a VERY wise choice for marshall. These speakers are perfect for a rock/metal guitarist. I'd say they are great for anything with distortion. They sound great clean also, lots of clarity. I can't be happier with them!

I had these stock in my Marshall 1936 2x12 cab. They are a 75-watt 12" speaker used in many cabinets and high-gain amps.

Sound Quality : 5
I mainly use(d) this cab with my 69' Marshall Jmp 50-watt head (kind of a cross b/t a 1987 and a JTM45) and JCM2000 TSL122. I never really thought much about them until i got the JMP and realised how bad they made the amp sound. I noticed that, though they sounded fairly good at low levels, they really sounded kind of bad when pushed. I noticed this a little previously with the TSL122, but I thought it was the amp. I knew it couldn't be the amp with the 69', so I purchased some Weber Alnico Blue Dogs to replace them. Boy, what a difference. This amp now kicks some major ass! Much more detailed highs, nice defined midrange, and no flabby, crappy bass (which the G12t-75's had in a large amount). So, this made me realize that these G12's aren't that great, just an inferior speaker. Not bad for high-gain, but crappy otherwise.

Reliability : 10
no problems.

75 watt(conservative rating)giutar speaker with ceramic magnet-16 ohms, 98db sensitivity.

Sound Quality : 7
I bought a used marshall 4x12 and these speakers were in it. When I was test driving the cabinet there was another used Marshall 4x12 side by side and I was AB comparing the two cabinets. I was using a Mesa Boogie Rectifier head. The other cab had G12m-70's in it and it sounded so brittle and bright that it was like razer blades flying through the air. It made that good MB amp sound like a POS solid state device! The cab with the T75's sounded warm and musical. The clean sounds were very good; solid and fat with plenty of sparkle. I have many amps (mostly tube combos) with different speaker types so I can make comparisons. When I ran my Marshall Silver Jubilee through the 4x12(w/T-75's) the distortion sound was not nearly as good. The sound was very metalic compared to the woody warmth of the amps' Vintage 30's. The clean sounds were still good however. The cabinet has Vintage 30's in it now. When used in a 4x12 the T-75 has a very scooped sound to it. Lots of (clean)highs and lows and nothing in the middle. When our harp player was having feedback problems using his Fender combo amp I thought that it might be the opened back nature of his amp. A Marhall style closed back 2x12 was "whipped up" using the T-75's. This solved the feedback problem out right. The harmonica sounds incredible through the T-75's by the way. The G12T-75 sounds better (at least to me) for the giutar also in a 2x12 format.

Reliability : 10
It has been my experiance that Celestions are pretty much bullet proof. The wattage ratings safely conservative.

Customer Support : 10
Celestion know alot about speakers and cabinets and there not stingy about sharing thier knowledge. Fiendly and easy to comunicate with.

Overall Rating : 8
good alround speaker for giutar or harmonica, especially in a 2x12 format. Metal heads might really like them in a 4x12. A loud balanced response. Not as woody or as fat as I would like.

This is of course a speaker not an amp (how about a speaker review section?) I replaced the G12M-70 in my Carvin amp after 14 years.
I am shocked that there is no gasket for front mounting included with the speaker. I mounted it without one and it works just fine. I may cut out a cardboard gasket in the future. (-1 for no gasket)

Sound Quality : 10
The G12M-70 has too much of a brittle top end. If I had known about the G12T-75 I would have installed it long ago. The glassy top end is gone but there are still plenty of highs plus more mids and bass. The
G12T-75 stays clean longer but sounds great when you crank it up. I play classic rock and blues. This speaker is a vast improvement and suits my needs well. It is installed in a 1985 Carvin X60 combo using 2 6L6s. My guitar is a 1986 Carvin with humbuckers.

Reliability : No Opinion
Brand new, but my previous Celestion works fine after 14 years of use.
I never take backup speakers!

Customer Support : 10
I e-mailed Celestion about the G12M-70 vs the G12T-75. They were quick and very helpful. Good experience!

Overall Rating : 9
Great speaker. My amp sounds better. I will probably purchase a second G12T-75 to go in my Jenkins 1x12 cab. There are lots of speakers out there and you can't try them all, but this speaker is a winner. Celestion says most speakers are rear mounted but mine isn't and a gasket would have been nice. Buy one for yourself.
