8" speaker, 4 Ohm... Marked "CELESTION G8L-35 PROFESSIONAL POWER LOUDSPEAKER Celestion International Ltd. Ipswich, England"

-very hefty magnet. Paper cone, fabric surround, pressed frame, large dust cap. Stout and substantial feeling, it just LOOKS like it's going to put out. High quality.

Sound Quality : 10
Bought it as a replacement for a 77 Silverface Fender Champ. Originally it was housed in a Crate amp. No idea how the Crate would have sounded but this little speaker is fabulous in the Champ. I couldn't find ANY info on this speaker when given the opportunity to buy one, so I took a chance. I'm writing this so YOU can have any idea what they're like if you're considering one. I took the Champ on tour with my Beatles cover band... fit it right in the suitcase for the flights! Mic'ed up, it totally rocked and really surprised everybody. It's incredible how much low end and volume this puts out for it's size. Very smooth and musical, great breakup when pushed and absolutely fantastic harmonics with distortion... My vintage ProCo Rat, Boss Blues Breaker and cheapo Tube Screamer reissue all sound killer now. You wouldn't believe the volume the Rat is capable of with this. Normally I play a Guild Thunderbass (50watt?) thru a 2x12 with Eminence Red Fangs (which in itself rocks), so I know what volume is. Really well-balanced speaker.. chimes great too. Seems to be a bit of a rarity, but if you can find one get it for your Champ, no question.

Reliability : 10
beautifully made, very solid. I'm sure it will last forever and my Champ certainly isn't going to blow it. (didn't really feel that way about the stock Fender Alnico which inspired zero confidence at high volume)
