Over all GREAT speaker at a very REASONABLE price! I don't know why I'll spend more money on other over-rated speaker. I've heard other Celestion and they are over-rated and over-price. This Silver Series, 12" Speaker 16 ohm sounded much better than the other more expensive series. It sounded more vintage that the Vintage series and more powerful than the Lead series. I thinks the amp it self makes the difference as long as you have a well made speaker just like this one... your amp control the sound and the speakers just put them out... so if you have a speaker that respond well on the Low, Mids & High like this one then you will sound good!

This is a very nice sounding speaker, I think it's the best choice if you?re looking for a speaker for a wide range of playing style - Wicked Lows, Solid Mids & Sweet Highs! I love it so much in my 4-12 cad that I got another one and replaced the speaker of my 1-12 MosValve/Real Tube Overdrive practice amp. It made that little amp...ROCK!

Reliability : No Opinion
My 4-12 cab is 2-years now with me and I got it used but...NO PROBLEM!
All 4 sounded just like this new one I just got and I play LOAD!...Not even a singlr BUZZ!

Never have to deal with them...so I can't say

Overall Rating : No Opinion
Best Speaker I?ve heard & used in 30 years in the music business- this one will blow-away the competition in all categories. I think it is UNDER-RATED in the market, but how Celestion made this one I think they finally created a speaker that actually make sense, it's NOT Over-Rated and Over-Price...

After a side by side comparison to a Vintage 30 cab I had,I pulled the V30 and replaced it eith the V12-80.This speaker has a better vintage tone with enhanced highs and lows.

It is a guitar speaker

Sound Quality : 10
This speaker is tight from the bottom all the way through the midrange. The highs a shimmering glass like and not appreciated by others. I rally like these speakers. I am running two of them with a Music man HD-130 head. I bought two Vintage 30's just because someone said they would blow away these V12-80's for sound Blah! Blah! Blah! What the heck a credit card Musicians Friend free shipping liberal return policy. I tried them, just wrote a review on them also. They are over-rated and over priced, in my opinion. This is a super all around speaker for just about any style or sound, especially with all the high quality effects that are now available to emulate any sound. I am giving them a 10 and a high recommendation. I think we like to spend more money on stuff just because of hype ie: TubeScreamer, Boss DM2 and 3 Delay, Ibanes AD9,Fulltone, Clyde Wah, Etc. None of these gimmicks make you a better player. If they did you would all be buying my CD's.

Reliability : 10
Three years pushing them evryday, no problems. Celestion YEAH!!!

Super, they answer email and Dr. Decibel gives sound advise. I have emailed them twice for speaker recomendations and they have responed with great advise. Both times Silver Series Speakers were the choice.

Playing forever, vintage rock n roll, rockabilly, blues, and Sunday morning Praise team Christian Contemporary Rocking Pop. Amps Music Man HD-130 Head and Tech 21 Trademark 60. Guitars, 1983 LesPaul Spotlight Special, 1965 Harmony 3 PU Bigsby Rockabilly Twang, Martin D35, and my old 59 Campfire Martin 0017. For the money these are a fantastic buy. New Vintage tone model with high power rating.I have two of them, both in Peavey tube amps.Seems well made with great attention to detail for being mass produced.

Sound Quality : 9
I am using a Gibson SG with stock humbuckers and a Classic SG with P90's.Sounds a lot like a Greenback but with tighter bass and good defined mids and highs.Has a vintage scoop with emphasis on bass and highs, not as mid punchy as my V30.Good vintage overdrive tone, great for Classic rock and blues.

Reliability : 9
Celestion...need I say more?

Customer Support : 9
Good enough as I have never had a Celestion fail in 25 years of playing.

Been playing 25 years and last 10 hard. Finally getting this guitar thing figured out. This speaker is a great buy at $69 and does rockin' blues very well.Think SRV...

This is a 12" guitar speaker, 80W, 16Ohms. Designed to be cheaper alternative for a Celestion Vintage 30. Originally developed for crate, the Silver series discontinued in 2002.

Sound Quality : 8
I bought four of the V12-80 and put it in my Rath TW 412 cabinet (see review) to get a more brutal, bass-heavier sound. I play it with an ENGL Savage 120 amp and some SG's and a Framus Diablo Pro.
In fact the bass response is really fat, tight and menacing, it is really comparable to the bass punch of our practicing room colleague's Mesa Recto Cab. The mids are a bit lower than the brutal in-your face mids of the Vintage 30. The highs are a bit harsher, more aggressive and not as noble or smooth as the Vintage 30. this is imo a negative point of the V12-80. MAybe this is the reason why this speaker didn't get a good reputation or isn't so common among guitar players.

no problems so far, Celestion, thats all

If this speaker wouldn't have those harsh highs, it would be the perfect alternative to those who love the Vintage30's bass response and tightness, but hate its brutal mids. I will go for a while with this speakers, but as soon as I can get my hands on a Vintage30 equipped ENGL, Mesa or Diezel cabinet at a REASONABLE price, I won't hesitate to sell my old speakers.
