This is an "Anthony Wilson" amplifier built by Michael Clark of Clark Amplification. This amp was designed and built for the great jazz guitarist Anthony Wilson who is currently on tour with Diana Krall and this amp can be heard on Anthony Wilson?s newest CD?s. I play jazz and I do not use effects. This amp is "Bare Bones" in appearance but not in sound. There are two channels NORMAL and BRIGHT. There is a volume control for both channels, a single tone knob, a STANDBY switch and an ON/OFF switch. There is also a purple jewel light. For the reverb unit, the controls are located inside of the amp. The tube driven reverb has three knobs: Mix, TONE, and DWEL. This is a one 12" combo and the cabinet is hand built from fine pine, and the amp is covered in a smooth fine tolex. There is also a suitcase brown handle on top of the amp, and a very long power cord. This is a hand-made all tube point to point amplifier using only the finest components which can be seen at Michael Clark's website: www.clarkamplification.com The tubes are all NOS (New Old Stock), tubes from manufacturers that are no longer available. The tube line-up is as follows from an email I received from Michael Clark. ?Your amp uses 6L6's in the power section, and 12AX7's in the reverb. There should be a tube chart in that amp to let you know what preamp tubes to use.? The amp was ordered by the original owner in 2002, and delivery was made in 2003. It was his belief that only about five or so of the Michael Anthony signature models were made. This is a straight-up amplifier and can do whatever your guitar can do.

I purchased this amplifier because I was looking for a perfect match for my hand made Gary Mortoro Starling. The Clark amplifier is the perfect match. I play jazz, pop, and rock, but jazz is my main musical interest. This amplifier is completely silent even at high volumes. My Mortoro Starling is fitted with the Kent Armstrong humbucker, my Fender D'Aquisto is fitted with an original Schaller pick-up, and my 1968 Gibson ES-335 is fitted with Gibson humbuckers. All of these guitars sound great and there is no hum or buzz whatsoever. Needless to say, this is a clean sounding amplifier. There is no overdrive, no distortion. There is only crystal clean, and the Clark amplifier does this like no other. I had played my arch top through a number of fine Fender amplifiers, and although they sounded good, there was always a problem with feedback. The Clark amplifier is so well balanced and so well tuned, that no matter how close I get to the amp, or how high I turn up the volume, there is no feedback and the tone is the best I have ever heard from an amp. It is the best because the Clark Anthony Wilson Amplifier does not color the sound of the guitar. It only amplifies the sound and that is what a good amp should do. I have the single tone control knob up to half way and that is it. The reverb unit on this amp is the best I have ever heard. It is tube generated and there is not a bit of "Boing" that you hear even in the finest of Fender amps. The sound of the reverb is what I can only describe as ethereal. It's there, but you cannot hear how it is there. I have never heard a reverb unit like the unit inside of the Clark amplifier.

This amplifier has a transferable TEN-YEAR warranty! That is a very long time. I have only had this amp for a short time, but so far so good. I have contacted Michael Clark directly and he has responded quickly and with all of the information I have requested from him. This also goes for the staff at THE PERFECT NOTE who carry Clark Amplifiers.

There are vintage to modeling amps out there, and if that is your taste, then go for it. But if you are looking for an amp that is completely hand made using only the finest of parts, this is the amp for you. Not everyone wants a clean amp like the Anthony Wilson model from Michael Clark. But for the jazz player, or the player who is looking for an amp that will only amplify the sound of his instrument, Clark Amplification has the amp for you. I have played not only my Mortoro Starling through this amp, I have played a Paul Reed Smith Hollow Body II, a ?76 Fender ?Starcaster,? and even a Gibson SG. This amplifier sounds really great. I suppose I could turn the amp to full tilt, hit the guitar really hard and made the speaker break up, but really, that is not my sound. And I don?t believe this amplifier is best suited for those situations. I suppose you could find something vintage a pay five times more than a new Clark Amplifier, but I don?t know why you would. This amp sounds great with any guitar, and if you need them, you could run your FX directly into the input channel as this amplifier does not have an FX loop input. I see the Anthony Wilson amplifier as the ultimate jazz guitar amplifier. I have been searching a long time for an amp with great tone, and zero feedback. Everything I have ever wanted is in this amp. I do believe my search is over. If I lost this amp, I would have Michael Clark build me an exact duplicate. It might take a year, but the wait would be well worth it!
