this amp has ok features just mainly the basics. But i realy like the tube it has built in it. gives it killer distortion and sustain. it is good for practicing and playing a small gig. you can easily here it over the drums.

Sound Quality : 8
if u like distortion get this amp, the tube just cranks out all of it that u need. But yet it has a warm clean channel as well, which is prety good.

Reliability : No Opinion
i got it used so i dont realy no, but so far there is no problems with it.

This amp has a fair amount of features...all the usuals, a tube and solidstate channel, plus reverb. Looks like other reviews did a pretty good job with features, so I wont go into detail.

Sound Quality : 7
I am rather new to guitar, maybe 2.5 years, I bought this amp shortly after I got my guitar so that I could play with drums. There is no question that this amp will hold its own when playing with drums, I have never turned it up past 8-9. We play mostly punk which is easily achieved with this amp's lead channel. I used to play with the gain at ten, but I have actually backed off the gain a tad to get a better sound (in my opinion, of coarse). I have always enjoyed "alternative" or "indie" music- so as my guitar ability increases, some of our songs extend to some prettier stuff when we jam in the old garage. The crate accomidates to these mellower sounds as well, as opposed to all out rock. So, here is my main point: I think this amp has served me well, it accomidates a wide range of music which equates to endless hours of fun. If your looking for an amp that will get you through many situations whether practicing or playing a show, this one shouldnt do you wrong. Sometimes, being new to guitar I wish it had on of those nice Fender or Marshall logos on it, but if you blindfolded me and had me listen to it I would like this crate amp for sure.

Reliability : 8
My crate has treated me well so far. I bought it used so I dont even know exactly how old this model is, but it has held up well. The amp stays in one place for the most part so it is not open to being damaged much, maybe when things get really rocking in the garage i will bump into it and sweat all over it, but i dont think I have ever kicked it over or anything. Lately, the amp seems to sound a little different, which leads me to believe that i need to do something about the tube(s?), but i dont really know anything about that stuff. All in all, this thing has been plenty reliable and never made me anger!

Customer Support : No Opinion
As I said I bought this amp used, so I dont even know what the crate warranty is. I know crate has a website for some FAQ stuff, my amp has never needed support.

Overall Rating : 8
Some of this may be repetitive by now, but here goes. I play an epiphone g310 through this crate. I dont use any pedals except a standard footswitch to change channels. The gain on the amp provides plenty of distortion, sometimes more than I'd like, but its there if I need it. This amp sounds nice when run clean as well, it has a nice warm feel on the rhythm channel. I know there are lots of really nice amps out there (which cost lots of $$$), but this one seems to hold its own and has been perfect for me to upgrade to so that i could start playing in a band situation, while not requiring me to take on a second job or spend my tuition money! So there you have it, all in all a pretty nice little amp.

This is a modern 1x12 rock and roll guitar amp. To clarify from other reviews, it has 2 channels, which can be either in tube (I believe it contains one real tube, but you can't see it) or solid state, effectively giving you 4 channels each with its own gain control. I use a generic 2-button footswitch with one button controlling tube/solid state and one button controlling the channel, for a very versatile rig. Separate bass, mid and treble EQ for lead and rhythm channels. Its been played in my room at low volume and miced on stage in auditoriums with 1500 people. Its got a line out, which makes a decent recording output (especially clean) if you're on a budget. Reverb control for lead and rhythm.

Sound Quality : 8
The highlight of this amp is definitely the clean tones. In clean tube mode, single coils sound great a little overdriven from the gain dial. For super clean with very distortion, the solid state clean and a humbucker guitar are perfect. With a chorus pedal, this is what I've done in my jazz gigs. Distorted lead tones are quite raw and gutsy, especially in tube. I'd say the best tones are from the clean tube channel with the gain cranked. I use that and switch over to solid state with the gain low to switch channels. A distortion pedal on the clean channels does a good job too. If you like hard distortions (punk, 80s shred stuff, metal) you'll definitely like the lead channels, its not really my style though. In general, the clean channels are quite bright (I often back off on the treble and the lead tones are dark (I'd back off on the bass). The reverb is deep and warm.

Reliability : 10
This thing is build Ford tough. There is nothing to protect in the back, the tube has its own casing. The knobs can fall off if you pull them out, but its just as simple to stick them back on. Not really a problem. The line out gets a little fuzzy sometimes, maybe thats a problem on mine.

Customer Support : No Opinion
I've never dealt with Crate and I got it used, not sure about the warranty, I got it used but a week old.

Overall Rating : 8
I've been playing about 4 years I suppose. Its been my main amp for a while, just this year I got a Line 6 AX2, so I keep the Crate in my band's practice area. I play jazz, fusion, and anything you call rock with a Parker Nitefly. For me the lead tones are pretty useless, but I dig the clean ones. One thing I didn't add, this thing is LOUD for its size, which is why I've had it so long even though its an inexpensive amp. Its perfect if you're starting out and want something cheap thats loud enough to use with drums and bass - and it's a reliable and clean practice/backup amp for the more experienced.

This is a fairly nice, yet basic amp that will suit any teenage rock band well. A single channel amp, the GT-80 pumps 80 watts of decent sound. It has both a lead and rythm channel (lead is where I tend to play distortion in). The amp also has a very nice deep toned reverb. You also have the option of making this a tube or solid state amp at the push of a button.

Sound Quality : 6
While I find the clean to be of very basic clarity, I simply love the crunchy distortion it puts out. Crank the volume, give it some reverb and you can impress your friends pretty easily!

Reliability : 9
Crate usually offers good warranties. So far I not even had one problem with the two Cartes that I own.

Overall Rating : 5
If I was a teenager in a garage band looking for som e good sounding distorion and a lot of power to blast some good noise at a local YMCA concert, at a decent price, I would definately check this amp out. It worked well for me and my friends. However, if you insist on top name, and professional sound you may consider investiong a tad more money. (The Fender Princeton Chorus is a nice option but is no where near as lound as this Crate.)

This is a four-channel amp It has a tube(12ax7) and solid state pre- amps both with lead/rythm settings. The power amp is a mosfet/tube hybrid. It has separate gain controls for all four channels and the lead and rythm sections have separate master volume/tone/reverb controls the footswitch allows access to the lead/rythm, tube/solid-state, and reverb on/off.

Sound Quality : 9
This amp can suit just about any style. The spring reverb unit will pick up strong rf signals but that is evironment dependant. This thing can go from crystal clean to a blues wail to an ac/dc crunch to a warm distortion to a very harsh distortion. The very clean channel distorts a little if the gain is above 7 with a guitar with hot pickups. The distortion is almost brutal using a small/pedal preamp (homemade) or a dod bi-fet will give it some more edge. also turning up the master will because it attenuates the output of the preamp so you can coax a little distortion out of the power amp.

Reliability : 10
great amp no problems so far(3 years) comes with a 5 year waranty

Customer Support : No Opinion
5 year waranty

Overall Rating : 8
The only bad thing is the master volume will affect the tonal quality of the sound but a load simulating power attenuator will solve that.
