I bought my first one from Musician's Friend in 1998 and foolishly sold it around 2002. I recitified my error by going right out and buying another (this time used) Grind IT! I loaded this one with a 100W Eminence speaker, and it does sound much better. I noticed that on my present Grind IT, when I press in the Distortion button, it makes a slight pop, but my first one did not do that, so I wish I knew what that was. No biggie.
There are three channels; Clean, Distortion and Grind. The clean channel is surprisingly warm and present. I have absolutely no complaints about it at all. From jazz to latin to country, this clean channel will do it all if you are practicing or playing to a small, nearby audience.
In my opinion, the distortion channel needs some more equalization, or it can sound brash. You'll need to use the controls on your guitar and/or pedal to get a good sound from it.
The Grind channel is excellent for anything but the most aggressive metal. It has never let me down and I find the quality of the Grind distortion at least as good as that on my Morley PDW distortion pedal.

The Grind distortion is amazingly good. The amp does not hum, even at high volume

If you play clean or if you play metal, this is a very good practice amp. If you play blues, or blues rock, you might end up plugging your own choice of distortion or equalization into it. (Then again, you might like the fuzzy distortion it has). Hughes & Kettner Red Box would help.

I don't know when this amp was made, I got it used, but in near perfect condition. When I got it off eBay, I was thinking it would need the speaker switched out probably. Wrong - its a DOD/Harmon, sounds great. Has clean sound, overdrive and distortion. Headphone/line out, 2 inputs, 1/8" input for other music sources, etc. Cool blue tolex, its a nice looking practice amp. 15 watts, sounds quite loud though.

A lot of people on Harmony Central wanna compare apples and mangoes. Well, that be a silly thing to do. DON'T compare an amp like this to a Marshall stack, OK??? This amp is not competing with Marshall stacks, it is competing with other small practice amps in the 15-25 watt range.
Within that group of amps, its the best I've ever played. I've had a Peavey, a small Fender, a Park made by Marhsall co., probably a couple more. Right now my band is doing small rehearsals with several small practice amp, that's what I got this one for. It blows all of the others away, for real. The Grind distortion may not be the best pedal in the world, but built into this amp, its got better distortion than the Peavey and the Park by a mile. The Boss amp w/2 6" speaklers barely qualifies as an amp. For what it is, this amp rules. Well...its really good anyways. I'd wager the Vox Brian May amp is a step better, but thats about it. I have mixed feelings about DOD. People have dissed the EHO in this amp - I used to own the EHO pedal by DOD, it is very highly reviewed on Harmony Central - and this amp sounds just like it on that setting. Its a good crunch. The Grind sounds great, metallic. The clean is good too, I was expecting way worse. Pleasantly surprised all around.

This is a grrrrrreat practice amp. Period. I got it at a real steal, but would consider it to be worth up to twice what I paid. JUST DON'T compare it to a 100 watt 2x12 combo!! That's not what this amp is for.
What it was made for, it does very, very well. Good job, DOD.

Knobs and inputs are as follows Two, imputs, volume, Dist. button as well as grind button, gain, overdrive volume, low, mid, high, controler in, headphone jack. Everything you'd want and need minus the reverb. I really dont like the big fancy computerized amps. Its not to heavy easy transport. 15watts and 8" speaker.

I have my fender standard telecaster hooked in to my Digitech RP100 with the attachable vlome/wah wah pedal. This combination works amazing for all my styles. Of coarse hard rock to soft rock, even a bit of heavy metal here and there, and also one of my favorites jazz and blues. It can drown out my entire crappy band although sometimes get some harsh feedback with the single coil pick ups, but thats my only complaint.

2 Inputs
Volume
Overdrive, Grind options
(Overdrive is the standard distortion sound... grind takes it further with a sound closer to the metal crunch many people are looking for)
"Integrated Tube" - I honestly don't know what this means.
Distortion Gain
Distortion Volume
Bass, Mid, Treble EQ
Pedal Input
Headphone jack (the 1/4 inch stereo headphone jack size - you can get convertors for your small headphones if you need to, it works just fine with my crappy little earphones as well as my monster stereo headphones)
CD input (1/8 inch input - you can get a headphone out to line in convertor as well)
The amp says Max 40 Watts, I believe it is 15 Watts. The stickers came off the back prior to being sold to me.
I would say this amp is a very good starting amp, especially due to the Grind function. I have never seen another amp with actual grind-style distortion like this so it saves you getting a distortion pedal. I would reccomend, however, buying a multi effects pedal such as the one Digitech makes to get reverb, which this amp lacks.
All in all, a very good practice amp with plenty of power and features. It loses a mark for not having reverb, but that's ok! It isn't a necessary feature! You can easily get a pedal for reverb or play without, it sounds just fine!

I have tried it with a variety of guitars. All in all, any pickup type sounds good. The main factor is how the guitar was constructed and what material is. A good material like agathis or better will carry the tone well. No amp sounds good with a bad guitar.
It suits any type of hard rock or metal very well. It also has a good clean sound, and any amp can achieve any sound with a good pedal like the one mentioned earlier. I hate to sound like a commercial, but it is true.
Also mentioned earlier, it lacks reverb. That doesn't matter too much but the sound isn't PERFECT like a large amp so it still gets a 9, losing one for the lack of reverb and the fact that it isn't a million dollar amp. Best amp you can buy in this range for this kind of money, way better than a Marshall. Aspiring metal gods or any other style for that matter, I would reccommend this amp. Brutal distortion, beautiful clean sound.

I bought this amp used and it showed hardly any wear. No problems, never broken down, and I bought it at a pawn shop in the dirty part of town, if you get my drift. So this thing can survive a lot. Perfect 10. No problems at all.

Best amp in this price range.
Tons of features.
Very durable.
Very powerful.
If I lost it, I would try and find another just like it.
I love its distortion and grind, all the features it has, and the beautiful clean sound.
I compared it with other amps and it sounded better than $300-$500 amps and had just as much power. The only thing I dislike is the lack of reverb, which DOESN'T MATTER!
I would like reverb on it, but oh well.
If you can find this amp for under $250 American, I would say go for it. It is durable and sounds great.

solid state combo, 15W, Don't know the year was made, but it's not too old. I think the only thing the amps need to be versatile it's to have at least two channels, this have the two. it has to inputs to match your guitar PU, headphone jack and a footswitch input, and the usual controls of bass, treeble, and mids. I wish it have a spk out jack.

I use it with a yamaha SE200, throgh a Marshall ED-1 ->Marshall JH-1 ->zoom 505II. I don't use the dist channel, but it's the usual OD channel of a SS amp, now for the clean, it the Grind IT switch up, the tone get somewhat more warm. I only use the clean channel. I don't know why the people here talks about the power of the amp, I have used other PRACTICE amps, and this is the best amp I have found until now, because it start carcking about at the maximun of the volume and this is because of the spk, that is why It should have a spk out. but when cranked, the amp distort a little, but this only improves the sound, I never saw this on a solid state amp, but this is the only amp that makes that!!!the dist on all practice amps are shit, so I don't ever use it.

Well...this is a neat toy for beginners, but not much else...The number of little dials on the front is really impressive...you've got three-band EQ, two channels of distortion, headphone, footswitch, 1/8" line-in jack (to plug in your discman I guess), 15W and an 8" speaker...who could ask for anything more? What about reverb? I guess they didn't have space on the front of the amp panel for another dial...maybe they could've scrapped the useless second instrument input... If this thing had reverb, I would suggest it to any beginner who wants a light-weight bedroom amp. This thing's really small and comes in a blue cabinet...how cool!

I only ever used my first electric guitar (Epiphone LP-100...open coil humbuckers) through this thing. It sounds...uh...like it needs some reverb. I can't get over it...the clean channel sounds like you'd expect from a 15W solid-state, really crisp with very little warm tone...so it needs more. The distortion comes straight from one of DOD's pedals, so naturally it's going to really kick. The amp gets fuzzy and pops above 6...and after that, all tone disappears...some people like that, though. The pedal-type distortion really doesn't make up for a poor-sounding amp.

Here's where the star shines...I've dropped it, spilled drinks on it, took it apart, poked around, and put it together again, and played it repeatedly at levels of ten just to see how loud it would get. I even ran a fifty watt Fender into my little DOD to see how the speaker would hold up at EXTREME volumes, and used it as a bass amp (albeit heavily distorted) and it's all still in one piece. It always sounded like shit, but it isn't any worse now.

I haven't played this amp in 4 years, but I recently found it in a closet at my dad's house. I reminisced for a while, then plugged it in to see if it still worked...and it did. Here's a warning to anyone wanting to buy this amp as part of their first rig: It sounds awful. Know what you're buying, and I suggest something with reverb, like a Fender Frontman or little Peavey or something (although I've never played through either). Sure it's cute and has great distortion and could withstand a ground-zero nuclear blast...it still isn't worth it. Also, if you're expecting to just plug in and start a band...get something BIGGER. This isn't even loud enough to scare your parents. Other companies make louder 15 watt amps...look around.

This is a 15 watt amp similar in size and power to the Peavey Rage 158, except it has far superior distortion over the Rage. I like the crunch and low end the amp delivers when practicing alone. The clean channel is very clear and pristine, but still sounds transistorized, but that's okay with me. The two channels are switchable via a pushbutton on the front. The 8" speaker really pounds out the bass and the headphone jack is good for playing alone. I play mostly pop-punk and the bass delivered when palm muting is amazing and this amp can really pick up harmonics. solos come through clear as well. I bought this amp in 1998 brand new. The only negative about this amp is you can play with either insane distortion or super clean. There isn't much of an in-between. Plus, it isn't really loud enough to jam with a drum set.
Sound Quality
:6
It doesn't matter what kind of guitar you plug into this baby (within reason), the Grunge distortion makes every note sing to the maximum, and every palm mute crunch!!! As I said before though, there are only two sounds, super clean and mega distorted. When the volume is cranked it begins to hurt the 8" speaker. I love it for practicing by myself.

If stolen or lost, I might replace it because it is a lot of fun. I don't really hate anything about it except that it should be 200 watts and a 2x12 combo so you could have that amazing distortion sound and jam with a band. Also, being able to turn the distortion down more would be nice. I have been playing for 7 years and use my Ibanez EX to drive it. It sounds cool. What I want is a Fender Twin Reverb though .... dream....

solid state,15 watts,8 inch speaker, 2 inputs, headphone jack, footswitch jack, and some other jack that is labeled with a musical note, bass, mid, and treble controls, 3 channels (clean, a simulated tube overdrive, and a grunge distortion)which all use the same EQ.made in the U.S.A.

the simulated tube overdrive sounds very tubey for a solid state amp and is very versitile. It can go from a very light crunch to heavy saturated sustain, all with plenty of warmth and body. The grunge distortion can get very thick and heavy which is perfect for metal music. The clean channel is decent, but pretty plain. This amp is best when used with high output humbucking pickups because its best sound feature is the the heavy as hell distortion which sounds great.

very good for heavy metal distortion and hard rock tube-like over drive, but i wish it had reverb and/or chorus to give the clean sound more depth. But it is the absolute best amp i could find for $59.95. I would highly recommend as a fun, very portable, (lightweight and compact) and inexpensive practice amp.

I used it with a Peavey Generation Tele clone. I didn't use any pedals... This amp gave me a great tone for such a small amp. I made a very close Silverchair sound with it, just not as loud. The reason why I am refering this with a past tense is because I sold it to buy a chorus pedal, but instead bought it on boose and got drunk a couple times! IT WAS WORTH IT! I was getting a new amp soon, a Yamaha DG60-112, and that amp didn't satisfy me as much as this one did so long ago, I wish I still had it.. I sold it to my teacher. but anyway, it distorts just a little bit at the highest level, but not much! and the distortion on the amp was just gut wrenching brutal. perfect practice amp.

Right now Im using crappy Ibanez stock pickups and it even sounds good with them but I just ordered a Dimarzio Evolution Bridge and PAF Pro and I will release a review when I get those pickups installed. once again if you dont play rock or metal click back now. It is not that noisey but when you play your low strings it will drown out your high strings (high e, B, G) if on distortion. How brutal the distortion you ask? Imagine your self standing on a train track and get hit by a train the distortion is that brutal.

I have been playing for about two years and it has lasted me those two years and is still my favorite practice amp just because of the distortion. If it was stolen or lost which it wouldnt be because I love it as a practice amp I would probably buy it again. I love the distortion and hate people that hate when I drown out their 30-40 watt amps with its 15 watt distortion.
