My current DOD Ice IT was made in March of 97' It is a weak amp, but versatile enough for a beginner(which I was when I bought my first one) and get some decent tones from. Two footswitchable channels, effects loop, headphone jack and jam-a-long CD-type input. It's got two guitar inputs, and I never use the second one. Low, LOW power output, but good for practicing and learning guitar for the first time (you don't want everyone to hear you playing the same riff a thousand times and screwing it up a thousand times while you teach yourself, anyways) Solid state, good distortion.

Was using with an old Charvel model 4, seemed to suit my clean-to-grind style fine, switching with a footswitch from a JC55 from a pawnshop, but doesnt take long to distort either channel at medium volumes. Now here is the kicker, play through really GOOD headphones, and the tone and shapes of the sounds, both clean and distorted, sound how you WISHED it sounded amplified at room volumes. I just happened to have some AKG 240s, and I discovered some killer inspirational tones that way, really MAKE you want to play and practice. Made me think to myself, "Now I see why some artists record some guitar parts through their miked headphones".

On my second one, lost my first one in the pawnshop shortly after buying it, found another new one for cheeep and got it. I found myself missing some things about that amp and had to have another to practice with, and no money anyway for something better. But shortly after buying second one, turned on the power switch only to be greeted with the sickly smell of burning wire. RUH-ROH. Time to dig out the warranty card.

After the meltdown, customer support was good, after some digging for their contact number. Was fixed under warranty and no problems in the 6 years since repair. Had to send off to DOD headquarters in Sandy, Utah as I didn't get amp locally.

If it was stolen, I definetly would not go on the ebay treasure hunt for a replacement, but it did what it was supposed to do. I bought this after reading a glowing review,(which seemed TOO glowing after receiving it) in Guitar World or Practicing Musician or some magazine. Now remember, plug in some GOOD headphones (AKG 240's or something) for REALLY killer sounding tones, I've often read interviews with some artists (Billy Corgan, Trent Reznor or someone)who recorded some guitar parts through miked headphones, cool.

I bought this amp as my first amp. I didn't know a lot about what to get and this one had a lot of knobs. That was over a year ago. I've grown alot as an electric guitarist since then (I played acoustic for a few years) There are a lot of nice features on this amp. Chorus, spring reverb, distorion, headphone jack, I can run my stereo through it. It's no line 6, but for a first timer, it's great

My setup is easy: Epi Les Paul Jr. through Boss Me-30 and out the amp
When I first got it, I though it sounded horrible. Completely inorganic and I couldn't get a good chorus sound out of it. My reverb got really loud once and stopped working completely. I got so much static. I guess I just got better at knob fiddling Because it sounds great now. The Distortion is wicked. I can get it to howl with my Junior. Great feedback. I still don't use the chorus all that much but that's just because I'm not a big fan of chorus anyway. Since I got my Boss, Reverb is not a problem. I still prefer the amp drive over the effects pedal anyday. It's plenty loud enough for me and I've used it live. (Once for about six hours)

As much as I like it now, the reverb still burnt out on me (And i can't really figure out how to get inside. It is just a stupid spring isn't it) If I were gigging often I wouldn't use it but I woould still put it on an album

I've been playing for about 4 years. I don't think I would replace it if it were stolen. I'd get one of those Vox Cambridge 30's. But I would be pissed because I like to play it a lot. I play a lot of U2, R.E.M., Velvet Underground and grunge noisyness of sorts. (Mind you, with the addition of the effects pedal I've certainly cleaned up myself) For my, at this point, it is the perfect amp. (Mind you, and AC30 would be pretty nice too)

I play a gibson Sg Standard. when i first bought it I had a squier mexican standard, and it was a big improve from my old 15w SS deal. Because this had integrated tube. next i sold my squier and bought me a SG. Another jump forward tonally. it sounded great for a while bought i played my guitar usually unamplified [ my moms a murse and usually sleeps in the day ] and i started to find that the DOD started to take away from the SGs natural tone. the clean channels pretty good, distortions pretty good, but both channels it kinda takes away from more high pitched noises. once played it at my schools variety show and it sounded pretty good but not impressive at about 2/3 capacity. i'm mainly into hard rock and blues, its hard rock is good but blues is lacking.

i bought dirt cheap, they nocked off about $100-150 [ cant remember exactly how much ] because i caught them selling it to someone else at that time. i took lessons there and even though they promised me 10-15% off everything, they usually tried to screw me. Its a good 2nd amp to have, if you have to buy your gear yourself and want a bigger better amp than what you started off with [ i think everyones owned a 15w beginner amp in there life. if not, i hate you ] but dont have the funds to get a badass marshall or fender. I'm thinking of selling it soon to get myself a nice fender solid state like one of them new stage 160 or 100. but if you think of upgrading from your 15w deal, i highly recommend this amp, i have no regrets about getting it.
