I checked this in a shop during one hour, quite loud.
Very effective eq, nice chorus on clean sounds, bad reverb (far too much decay) and horrible distortion. Yes, the guy below is absolutely right, you can trust him so far.
The speaker is warm, has a big magnet, and is way loud!
Aux in is a good thing, no loop is plain stupid.
Pretty look, not too heavy, open back.

Well, I tested with a set-in squier telecaster with humbuckers and coil split option.
The clean channel is very convincing, warm and very loud.
Nothing like tube, but still very enjoyable.
With single coils its best , at least with this guitar.
I think this amp is best suited to power a pod or such units, or to rely on a pedal for overdrive/distortion sounds.
Loud and clear, warm and effective.
Nice chorus with rate at min and depth at noon to five o'.
Rating is for the clean only

External speaker jack means it ain't running at full speed as it comes so it is a good sign so far.
The one I tested was still going strong, almost ten years after.
Quality knobs, good feeling to them.
I never had problems with the pedal line of this era (grind, vibro thang, milkbox, meatbox) so...

If you can have it for 100-150$ and you already have a modeler then go for it.
If you are a jazzman seeking for warm precise sounds and enjoyable chorus along with strong power, go for it.
Please note that this amplifier has a noise floor whatever the setting. This shhh white noise doesn't get louder so no problem for gigging or rehearsal.

Solid-state; 60 watts; 12-inch speaker; two inputs (no tonal difference); clean and distorted channels have spearate volumes and a gain on the dirt side; footswitchable (had to buy separately); built-in chorus (speed and depth controls) and reverb effects; external 8/16 ohm speaker jack; headphone jack disables speaker; and tape/CD input jack. Manufactured in Feb. 97. Very pretty blue vinyl cover.
Good features for the money. Versatile enough because the clean sound is pretty good and can be modified with outboard effects for other styles. The chorus and buzzy distortion date it to the '90s grunge era.

Clean is its forte, although it lacks the warmth of, say, a Fender's clean tube sound. It compares well to other solid state combos. Humbucker pickups sound best. Single-coils sound less spanky than wimpy, but my Boss Blues Driver solved that problem.
The distorted channel is awful. It has a buzz and tinniness that sound like a one of those '70s transistor AM radios with a wrist strap. That said, there are certainly players who enjoy this sound and can make music with it -- grunge and newer metal in particular. I just stayed in the clean channel and, when I wanted dirt, used a pedal.
The built-in chorus and reverb effects are good, but not terrific. The reverb does its job well up to around a 6 or 7 setting, where it begins to "boing" like a basketball dribbled in an empty gym. The chorus shimmers, but it lacks the lush, creamy sound of other chorus effects I've heard. And the chorus produces an annoying swirling hum in both clean and distorted channels (more on that later).
The amp also does a pretty good job with piezo-pickup acoustics, especially if you add chorus and a touch of reverb. Its acoustic sound was one of the reasons I chose the DOD Juice It over several similar models in the store. I wanted a smallish combo that could handle both electric and acoustic. What I got was an amp with decent to mediocre sounds for each.
It works best with electric, particularly humbuckers. The acoustic sound is decent for strumming, but beware fingerpicking. The piezo "quack" becomes exaggerated.

About a year after I bought this amp, the on/off switch for the chorus popped out. The chorus remained permanently on. I could turn the speed and depth controls all the way down, but I was left with a constant swirling hum that previously -- when the amp worked properly -- disappeared once I switched the effect off.
Very annoying. The company was unhelpful (they no longer make amps, just pedals and preamps), and the local repair techs had little to no interest in working on a solid-stater -- not for less than half the amp's worth, anyway. One guy even called it a "toy" and, of course, tried to harangue me into buying a tube amp. (I've owned the damn things before -- love the sound, hate the maintenace.) One guy finally fixed it for a handsome sum. But the same switch crapped out again less than a year later. So I learned to live with the swirling hum.
I haven't played live in years, but if I did, I would not count on this amp. In fact, if I did decide to gig again, I would not use this amp at all -- not even as backup.

Out of warranty when the problems started.
The amp was New Old Stock (made in Feb. 97, according to a sticker on the back chassis) when I bought it in March 2000. The dealer couldn't locate the manual, so I tried to get one from the company. The problem is that soon after this amp was manufactured, DOD got out of the amp business. Although DOD makes PDF versions of several of its product manuals available for free download, including for models it no longer makes, there is not a single reference on its entire Web site to the Juice IT series of amps. What does that tell you?
I e-mailed the company to ask whether they had any manuals stashed away somewhere. I was politely told that they no longer make amplifiers, nor do they support that product line.

I've been playing for 25 years, not counting a hiatus from serious playing upon entering the post-college/career/marriage/parenthood world. I pulled my old Alvarez out of the closet for good about five years ago. Soon after, I bought a used Ibanez Roadstar (terrific guitar!) and this amp. I've since acquired a Carvin AE-185, a Taylor 310 and a Gibson Nick Lucas.
The DOD Juice IT has a pretty good (not wonderful, just pretty good) clean sound going for it, and not much else. Although its menu of features is impressive, the built-in distortion, chorus and reverb sound only fair. And that was when the amp worked properly.
I suppose it makes a decent clean practice amp, which is how I employed it. Kids will probably enjoy its buzzsaw transistor distortion. Beginners might also enjoy twisting the knobs to torture their signals, but more experienced players will soon tire of the effects' shortcomings and will want to invest in some quality pedals or a good preamp.
I recently sold this amp for one-third what I paid for it. I got tired of the constant swirling hum from the chorus that couldn't shut off. I got anxious wondering whether today is the day this amp will finally crap out on me. Mostly, I got angry at myself for not doing my homework more thoroughly. Around the time I bought this DOD, innovators such as Roland, Tech 21 and Line 6 had remade the solid-state amplifier -- more realistic sounding, better built and only a little costlier than what I paid for for this thing. I could kick myself.

I bought mine in 1997 at a floor model closeout sale. Most of the features have been described in the previous reviews (solid-state, built-in chorus and distrotion, 60 watt output into a 12 inch speaker, etc.).

My guitar collection includes a PRS McCarty Soapbar, a Gibson Les Paul Standard, Jackson AT-1 with PRS pickups, and a Epiphone Emperor II Joe Pass. With these guitars, this amp sounds superb. This is a surprisingly good sounding amp for the price and its source. Clean sounding on the clean channel, somewhat rough distortion channel, and very nice chorus effect. Yes, there are better amps around, but not at the price that I bought this or what what they cost on the used market. Best bang for the buck.

No problems here. I've have Fender amps that had to go in for warrenty work, but this amp has been a workhorse and seems to be bullet proof.

I've been playing for over 30 years, and have had my share of Fender, Ampeg, and Marshall amps. I have been very surprised at the performance of the Juice-It. Like I said before, when it was new and now on the used market, it's a great bang-for-the buck purchase.

The amp was made in 1998. I purchased the amp in 2000. The amp was recomended to me because I play rock and heavy metal, and it is a perfect amp for that. When you play it clear it still sounds amazing. It does have a footswitch jack to control effects that are on the amp (gunge distortion, and chorus.) It has a headphone jack and a cd input. It is also a 2 channel amp. It also has a jack so you can hook it up to an external speaker cabinet. It is 60 watts which powers a 12 inch speaker

I mostly play heavy metal, but i also play songs like nothing else matters and what it's like. This amp is great for (i would say) every type of music except country. But for playing heavy metal or rock it is amazing. I play on samick with Seymour Ducan humbuckers. There is no hum when you trun it up, except there is a little if you have a distortion pedal on. The amp comes with 3 effects- reverb, chorus and distortion. The distortion on the amp is more like grunge distortion, i find their supra distortion pedal better. When you play with distortion it is so smooth and nice it's like it just flows.

I have been playing for 8 years and this is one of the best amps i have come across for the money. If it was stolen I would buy another one. I love all the features but i dont like the small knobs. I compared it to a Marshall and a Roland which were all around 60 watts, and none of them compared to it. I wish it came with a footswitch though. IT is a kick ass amp.

Two footswitchable channels; distortion, clean. One EQ; bass, mid, treb. Reverb. also, built-in chorus effect, including speed and depth. Two input jacks, 1/4" headphone jack, and Jam-Along jack. 12" speaker that's loud as hell and a line-out jack, too. This amp has everything you need for practice at home, with the band, or can even suffice for a performance amp in a small club or venue.

I use a late 70's Aria Les Paul copy with stock PU's with this amp. (I'm going to buy a real guitar soon, though because this one sucks horse shit!) Anything with single coils probably wouldn't deliver the meaty, saturated, Juice It distortion that humbuckers do. The distortion on this baby is perfect for chunky, blunt power riffs and heavy, fade to black almbum, Metallica like overdrive. However, if the gain is not set on 10, then the overdrive sounds like crap. The clean channel is very, very sparkling and clear, sometimes too clear. There is no distortion at higher volumes on this channel, either.

This is where the Juice It fails miserably. I would recommend this amp for live performaances if it only didn't start to sound like a buzz saw after extended play (like, 10 minutes). I've always wondered if this problem was found in other Juice It's, or if this problem was unique to mine. It could be that someone bought this amp from the store, destroyed the speaker, then returned it for me to buy. Who knows? I don't care, because I now have a Hughes and Kettner Tube 50 on top of a Marshall 1960A and am not even sure where the DOD is!

Yes, it is versitile enough. 2 Channels. Fottswitchable. Headphone Jack. I wish it came with a footswitch and a wah. To practice in my shed, plenty enough power. At 60W and a 12 inch speaker will make the wall fall down. SS, and has built in reverb, chorus, 3-band EQ, Jam along jack, 2 guitar inputs, and a speaker out jack.

Suits my style just fine. I play mostly Hard Rock/Alternative/metal It is only noisy with treble maxed (on the EQ) or when the lights are on. My power source isn't grounded very well. You can do a lot with it. Heavy distortion to nice and smooth overdrive, clean and chorus with great reverb. Only slightly. The distortion can be killer, especially through to sinlgecoils or a single coil and a humbucker. Jackson JS-40 with a H/S/S setup
