I play a 78 fender tele 79 strat 56 supro ranchero a couple a early 80's o'hagans an 81 ovation preacher and a couple newer Ibanez's and it takes em all great especially the tele and ranchero i hace a 65 silvertone 2 pickup amp in case. the guitar rocks on this as well i have had them serviced and they both sound FFFFF'n awesome the trem on one does'nt work but will fix that later no noise although you will get an occasional tube rattle when you do some bassy chords or runs it stays sweet until the top then you get that "sound" you know 50's 60's. break out the old rock records you will hear the sound i mean

Approximate date of manufacture is the early to mid 1950s. Single channel, 3 inputs. I play primarily blues and jazz and this amp is the cat's meow (meaning WOW! Tone machine!). Tube line up is three 6SJ7 (pre amp and phase inverter, one 6X5GT rectifier and two 6v6GT output/power tubes. Controls are vibrato speed, vibrato strength, tone control and volume control with a single pole, double throw on-off switch and red jewel light. Approximately 12 to 15 watt output; excellent full-frequency response coverage. As do most amps of this vintage, it doesn't need much in the way of 'features' -- it does very well what it was designed to do.

Beautiful tone reminiscent of a Tweed Deluxe in that it has that "chiming," or bell-like sustaining tone. A real tone-monster this little guy -- and quite the looker, too with its clover-leaf shaped cutout and old "Aeroplane" cloth material covering. As stated, I'm primarily a blues and jazz type and it does both very well. Deep, responsive bottom end, excellent and well-detailed mids and highs. Although well-endowed with its share of paper caps and wrapped trannys, it stays clean all the way up to maybe 8+, then starts breaking up -- but in a controlled, tight way as opposed to just becoming distorted. You can dime the volume and it breaks up nicely, but does not get sloppy or full-tilt dirty. I NEED that!

Reliability is not an issue -- it's a simple Class A and unless dropped hard or unless drenched and allowed to rust, it'll go on for another 50 or so years. Anything that might go bad after a time is easily replaceable. It's a dependable little guy and easy to handle, too.

No Opinion
Not an issue -- this amp will probably be around longer than most of us... No need for any customer support of assistance -- it's THAT simple a circuit -- and it's THAT simple to repair.

A real surprise and an amplifier you just don't get a chance to see or play too often. However, if you ever run across one of these handy little tone monsters, grab it fast! The tone of this amp and unique qualities of its sound should qualify it as a recording studio required gear item. Truly a classic piece of American musical history, this 1X12 combo is worth its weight in gold. If ever lost or stolen -- I'd go bonkers cause' there's just not a heckuva lot of these old Danos out there -- but if I could find one again, I'd jump on it on the spot. I've heard boutique amps that cost in excess of $2K than don't even hold a candle to this amp's class and unique tonal personlity.
