2007 Diezel Einstein 1x12 combo. It had about every feature you would need in a combo. You probably already know about the three modes on channel one and the dedicated lead channel. Both channels have separate volume, gain, bass, mid, treble and reverb, Has two footswitchable master volumes, both parallel and series loops, comp out and a slew of speaker jacks. Also has a sweet sounding Celestion V30. It can crank like any EL34 amp but also sounds great at any volume. One of the few amps that can really do it at a decent volume.

Sound Quality : 10
Incredibly versatile....
Channel one mode 1 is as clean as you will hear an EL34 amp sound...in a word amazing. Clear, fat and warm....very fendery!!!

Mode 2 is plexi-ish. It can go from a thick blues sound to a lite crunch. Very nice.

Mode 3 is a modded Marshall sound that really rocks.

So channel one can go from a Fender to a Marshall. How many amps can do that??? None other than the Einstein!!!!!!!

Channel 2 Not much I can say other than it's incredible. It is a thick mid focused tight distortion but is is far from muddy. Similar to a VH brown sound only thicker, smoother and with more gain. It is so fat it really makes lead runs very legato. It almost let's the guitar play itself. TOTALLY AWESOME!!!

Overall this amp is it. It sounds great for any musical style. I can't really describe it you need to hear and feel it for yourself. I'll warn you though that you'll probably buy it if you do play through it. You won't need another amp ever again. It sounds great without any pedals. The reverb is also very very smooth and rich.

Reliability : 10
It's a tube amp so I'm sure it will need some minor repairs someday.
That's expected. It feels like it is incredibly well built....much better than any other amp I've seen.

I haven't had to call and doubt I will need to.

I can't say enough about it. Peter Diezel must be some kind of genius. There are lot of people like me who do not want to blow the windows out and demand a great set of clean and distorted tones. The Einstein delivers exactly this in every way possible. It's not cheap but you will not be disappointed. I can't really describe how good it sounds, my wife even commented on how freakin' awesome it sounded. I have played all kinds and sizes of amps..Marshall, Mesa, Bogner, Soldano, Budda, CAE, Suhr, and any other amp made. The Diezel is simply the best by a sizeable margin. Sure it would be nice to footswitch the three modes on channel one, but is also pretty easy to do it by hand. If you need this get the Herbert or VH4. I can only imagine how incredible those sound............

If your considering buying this amp you already know the features.

The two features that would of made it perfect.

#1 Footswitchable channel one modes. The modes are so well balanced that you can literaly set the channel flat and switch between them during your set. Footswitchable would have been great.

#2 Dedicated lead channel effx loop, for echo. I have never met a guitarist who didn't want a little delay on there lead.

Clean Tone (9) Channel one - Almost Fender Twin, so damn close. I love my Twin, until now Fenders have been the only clean that I feel really get in the pocket, where you can get addicted. This amp has it, you can switch to your clean and change the dynamic of your band and still feel the tone.

Texas ( 9 1/2 ) Channel one - Almost Vox, so damn close. I love my AC30, I would gig with it if it had any kind of a decent lead tone. This amp has that great throaty slight overdriven tone that you can even switch to your bridge and get decent rock.

Mean ( 9 ) Channel one - Almost Marshall, so damn close. I love my JCM800, I've been gigging with it, but the texas and clean tones all sound like rock. You can't escaped it. This amp will satify your Marshall needs.

Lead ( 10 )- Perfect, Santana, Satrianni, Vai. Lots of compression, endless sustain, harmonics leap off the neck, sustain to feedback almost at any volume. Low notes don't over power high notes, sloppy playing seems tighter.

Reliability : No Opinion
Can't say. Won't know for a year. I did notice that if you leave this amp on with no guitar plugged in for a few minutes it starts to make wierd humming fluctuations.

Customer Support : No Opinion
Don't know, I hope I never need to find out, they are in Germany.

You would have to take a Twin, AC30, JCM800 and Soldano and some how get all 4 into one box, and make it footswitchable to get a 10 out of me. I can honestly say this is close.

This amp was made in early 2006. Although the Einstein has been in production for several months, this is one of the first that has a slightly smaller locally produced cabinet tweaked for even greater sonic pleasure. In fact production was delayed slightly while final adjustments were made to the componentry.

The amp has 2 channels. Seperate EQ for each channel is Gain, Volume, Treble, Mid, Bass, Reverb. Global Parameters are Deep, Presence, Master 1 and Master 2.

Switching between channels is done via a switch on the front of the amp or a supplied footpedal which also switches between master volume 1 and 2 using a stereo jack into a socket on the back. There is also a single footswitch marked R presumably for the Reverb however on my amp the Reverb jack was blocked up and another socket was provided for the master volume switching. Also on the back are speaker jacks for all combinations, parallel and serial loops with mix control and a compensated out for direct recording.

Channel 1 has 3 modes selectable from a switch on the front. With careful adjustment a setting can be created that sounds good across the board. Selecting each mode increases the gain but overall volume remains in balance. The modes are clean (as lush or as crisp as you want it) , texas (voxy, marshally, driven fendery crunchy stuff) and mega (massive bowel emptying distortion)

Channel 2 is voiced for leads as clean or as high gain as you want

In summary you have a 30kg compact versatile amp with reverb that can cover every base in the music spectrum. Ideal for recording or as in my case a classic rock covers band

I use it with a PRS Hollowbody with Piezo, a PRS Custom 22 and a PRS Custom 22/12 12 string. All sound fantastic through this amp. Even the acoustic sounds from the piezo sound real. You need no effects with this amp. I have always used a delay to plug the gaps in my solo's. You don't even need that with this amp.

Even at the high gain levels there is no noise till you hit a string. I doubt there is a sound that this amp can't do to perfection from the cleanest clean to the thickest metal distortion.

Sharing 1 EQ across three modes does not compromise the sound of any mode. It all just fits so nicely

Too early to say. Diezel quality is legendary and everything in the amp looks like quality. Even the knobs have a solid smooth feel to them. I'll have to judge it on reputation

Customer Support : 10
I have had email and phone contact with the owners of Diezel and seen their postings on the forum. They are very friendly and approachable. Even though I am as far from Germany as you can get, I get the impression they are commited to making sure I am satisfied. Nice guys that give credit where it is due and have built up a very loyal following.

I have been playing for 20 years in 2 classic rock covers bands. Amps I have owned are a Roland modeler, Vox AC-30, Mesa F50, Mesa Mark iv, Matchless DC-30 and Matchless Spitfire. I still own the two Matchless and while they have their own legendary quality and sound, they don't touch the versatility of this Einstein. It is the perfect amp.

I bought it on reputation without hearing it bar a few sound clips off the net. Hearing what it can do in real life has just blown me away.

I made a small modification to mine within hours of receiving it. I used the spare hole on the back to mount a socket and created another 2 button footswitch out of the single footswitch. Solder 3 wires and I'm now able to footswitch between the three Channel 1 modes which works perfectly with shared EQ. That just creamed the cake (an my ears)
