This amp isn't versitile at all. The only feature I see as being good is the clean channel. The reverb is horrible and the EQ is lousy. Reverb sounds more like a bad Hendrix style. The EQ only works on bass (if you turn the bass all the way down there is no sound) and the trebble and mid work rather poorly. The volume knobs are touchy and goes from too quiet to blazingly loud. Not very many features, but what do you expect from a cheapo amp?

Doesn't fit any style of music really. Like I said, the clean channel is good, but everything else is horrible. Very noisy, but no feedback, so I guess that gives it one point. No distortion on the amp at all. Only a reverb hendrix style effect.

Very realiable, but not suited for any kind of playing. If you need an amp don't look at this one. There are plenty out there in this price range with far better features and quality.

I bought a new amp shortly after playing this one. The "20W" feature looked promising, and that was the reason I bought it. Glad that I got rid of it and bought a new one, albeit more expensive amp. If you are looking for good sound don't get this by any means. Save your money (and a headache) and get a better one.

this thing is so bad it is ridiculous... i mean seriously, it sounds bad. I can't even play on the distortion channel because its so bad and even stomp boxes sound bad. The clean channel distorts and sounds terrable and has no volume at all. Please do not make the same mistake as me, it sounds very bad.

Its pretty sturdy and no problems after a couple of years. I would never back up with it because it is so bad people would just leave.

This is a chinese made amp, and a pretty bad one. its got 2 channels clean and drive. 3 band EQ. 20w. 8" speaker. inout, headphones and footswitch input. wish it had reverb, some effects and a bigger speaker tho. i play mostly classic rock and hard rock. I use and agile ps-900 (this thing is sweet) and i run a digitech rp2000 (awesome) thru it. even with these i have a hard time makin this thing sound good. this thing has no volume!!! even my marshall mg10 is louder than this thing!! and it sounds better

I have dual buckers on my ps-900 which i need 2 get lowered, but it doesn't matter. my modded squier affinity strat sounded horrible on it 2. it has pathetic tone. the clean gets trebly at high volumes, and also gets distorted. the distortion is really bad. im really scared if i have 2 gig b4 my line6 II 30 gets here, especially, if i dont have my rp2000.

i have been playin 4 over a year, but i'm pretty good. can't wait till my line 6 comes in, its gonna sound like heaven compared to this thing. I chose this piece of crap b/c my dad didn'y want me 2 spend a bunch of money, i don't particularly like nething about it, except that its open backed so i can stuff some cords in there. i've never played on a worse amp in my life. seriously. i would never buy this thing and i strongly advise against buying it

It's got phones, return, send, bypass, and channel select jacks on the back. the effects (8 of them) are crappy. As is the overdrive, (the gain knob is nice though)

I use mostly a B.C. Rich Bronze Warlock and an Epiphone Les Paul Junior, both with humbuckers (the Warlock with 2 the Junior with 1), and the amp sounds descent most of the time...MOST. I think the distortion and effects are pretty crappy, but clean is good for just jamming out and stuff. Sounds pretty much the same at high volumes.

When i bought the amp the input jack was messed up or something, so i had to whack it real good on the top, then i just fixed it and things are ok, so far.

I've had this amp for about eight months and i kick it around pretty good, im happy most of the time. The effects suck and so does the distortion, so i just use peddles. I wouldn't reccomend this amp to anyone, there are better amps for the same price, especially considering the crappy distortion and stuff.

I really don't know who makes this amp - it is very confusing! It says DRIVE on the felt bit on the front so I assume that's the brand. But it also says in small lettering 'A product of Shinko Musical Instruments' and is made in Korea. I was looking on the Monterey guitars website and under their amps it lists the 'Drive Series' which is this series just later models. It reads "Over the coming months, a new range of Monterey Amplifiers will be introduced into the marketplace. The first series of amps, the 'Drive Series' is now available. This series is a re-branding of the existing Drive Amps, as displayed below: (logo) MONTEREY BY DRIVE" So I don't know if it is made by Monterey or Drive or who but that doesn't really matter anyway.
The specifications on the site are: 20 Watts/RMS, 20cm (8"") speaker Drive gain, volume (drive channel), volume (clean channel), 3 EQ controls, channel select switch, foot switch jack, headphone jack. Size in cm: 37W x 22D 37H. BUT on the back of the amp it says 33 watts and is relatively loud for its size.
I play all kinds of music but mainly use this amp to take to band practices cause it is small, light and convenient and sounds half decent. I play at Church and it did alright for a little bit when i used to play there at the meetings through the p.a. system - but i don't recommend it.
It has 1 input with 2 channels - clean and lead. The lead channel has pre gain and volume controls while the clean has volume. There is treble, middle bass equalization for both channels. There is also a foot switch jack available to plug in a foot switch into to change channels quickly - which is very handy. There is also a headphone jack but unfortunately no cd input jack to plug a discman and stuff into.
The distortion is alright - I thought it was great when I first got it as it was the first time I had used distortion before. But it is pretty crap and makes a lot of noise - definitly not recommended. I bought a ds-1 to use with it instead, but it is still good to have there just in case I forgot to bring my pedal or something.
Power wise this amp is fine for practicing, playing at home, and jamming with friends. As I said it is fairly loud for small amp. It doesn't distort at loud volumes very much but you have to keep the treble way down and the bass way up to get a nice sound (otherwise it is very harsh - it doesn't have too much warmth to it).
It would be awesome if this amp had some other effects in it, at least reverb or delay just for a bit more variation in sound.

I'm using it with a squire strat with 3 single coil pickups. I honestly don't think that a cheap amp like this suits any particular music style because it has such a plain sound. It works for everything and anything but sounds bad for all. But it is an amp and it makes a sound when you plug the guitar into it and at the end of the day that's all you want it to do anyway!
As I said, the gain channel is noisy but the clean is pretty good.

This is amp is reliable! But once at church we were getting ready to start and rehearsing one of our songs for that morning and my dad came up on stage and smelt something burning. We realised it was this amp smelling so turned it off straightaway. So that moring I had to go all acoustic and couldn't use the amp. When we looked at it at home one of the resistors was pretty crispy but still worked. We turned it on and it seemed to be alright. I don't know what really happened then but it works alright now so it's okay.
But it made me weary to use it again when I needed it so that is when I bought a new (well second hand) amp to replace it. I bought a Samick 80watt sm-35kc for the power and strength that I wanted but really that amp is a piece of crap too. This amp isn't as loud as the samick (but not far off) it has a cleaner sound but isn't as warm. The samick has a really dead sound - i think the speaker might be stuffed.
A few weeks ago I bought a brand new Fender deluxe 90 dsp amp and it is wicked and absolutely leaves this amp for dead as you would expect it would. This amp is pretty light to take to practices and the fender is pretty heavy and I am still taking the drive to some practices so I suppose it sounds alright if I am choosing it over the fender just for convenience.

If the company is Monterey there lead I owned broke off inside the jack of my fender amp the night i brought it home when i hadn't even played it yet and we had to pay $65 australian dollars to get it fixed cause it couldn't be done under warranty so don't even get me started.
No I'm being stupid I haven't actually dealt with them yet, certainly not about this amp, but will send them a letter with my broken lead telling them what happened and see what their customer service is like.

I've been playing for about 1 year seriously but about 4 years in total. I have learnt stacks in the past year about guitars, amps etc and am currently playing in 2 bands.
Everybody's favourite question: if it were lost or stolen would I buy another - nah i don't think so. I might just suffer the loss and take my fender everywhere or I'd just go to cash converters and buy something relatively similar that was cheap and light and sound alright to replace it. I definlty wouldn't search the world for the same one.

It has an "ON" button cause like you need one of em.
It tends to go spastic if you put the volume past 4 though, and the speaker will vomit. in your face. It has Bass, Treble and Middle controls , and it has a "CRUNCH" channel. Which is bad. In the pants.

I'm playing a les paul custom through this piece of crap and it doesnt do much for it. It's really noisy (in a bad way) and nowadays i use it for my dog to sleep in. The clean is hopeless and the distortion is poor - but it was ok with my GT-6 cause its a quality piece of metal.

dont buy anything else. this can be your guitar amp AND dog house in one, and it will always sound the same (bad) even if the dog pisses in it. Actually i thought it sounded better when i spilt ice cream on it and my dog licked it up and then didnt like it and vomited back in the speaker.
REALLY! ITS THAT GOOD FOLKS!
