This is a new amp.
I play heavy metal. I was using a 100 watt keyboard amp before this. Now I have 120 "guitar watts". It sounds great on the clean channel with the low input and a distortion pedal. The clean channel sounds very good with my guitar. The ditortion channel is smoothe and not as distorted as I like it but I use it sometimes for lead. The channels can be switched manually or through the use of mono footswitches. The effect loop in the back works great as an output for another amp (send, not return) so you can chain as many Drive G120s together as you want. No headphone jack but it's a 120 watt amp. What would be the point? This amp has 4 effects. Chorus and flange can't be used at the same time(you toggle beteen them). Reverb and delay can be switched on and off independantly. The power of all the effects is affected by one knob which you'd think would be somewhat of an annoyance but really never bothers me, surprisingly. The tap tempo is used for flange, chorus, and delay. The delay can be set to four diffent regeneration levels (number of echoes)1,3,5,9(it seems). I guess if I wanted this amp to be perfect I would give it a separate level knob for chorus/flange instead of just turning it on and off and having the overall knob affect it.

I'm using a BC Rich Warlock with humbuckers. This amp is incredibly NOT noisy. The 60 cycle hum never interferes considering the volume level. You'd have to turn it up half way to hear the very quiet hum if you're very close to it. But as soon as you let the strings move at all, your eardrums might no longer respond to that minute hum. With my Grunge?-Fish&chips?-Amp setup, it sounds very much like Metallica? distortion.

I think it has enough power except when I turn both knobs over half and I have my Danelectro EQ up to +15dB, the lights start to go on in sequence. I don't know what this means yet, since the company that makes my amp hasen't gotten back to me yet. Hopefully this is a problem with a shortage and can be fixed in a store. Otherwise it's the amp overheating which would mean that it can't handle being turned up all the way. Fortunately, it hasn't burnt out yet and I can play at very high volumes(both knobs at half, low input, and +15dB gain on the EQ pedal) and I can be heard from what I'm guessing is miles. You definately can't talk over my amp even when its bass is up. And it's hard to be heard if you try to yell over it. I got this amp to overcome our band's drummer who has really loud symbols but unfortunately the other guitarist just got a 400 watt amp and mine can barely be heard when he turns his up to one fourth.

I've contaced the company before. They are very friendly and understanding on the phone. Call between 9 and 5 PST on weekdays only. I have gotten one response e-mailwise. But I had to send another because I didn't get a perfectly clear answer yet.

This amp looks like it was made with the intention of cutting a few corners where it doesn't really matter or rather, it's built cost-effectively. The sound quality is NOT one of the cutbacks. What was, are things like the front cover, which uses velcro to stick to the front. This bothers me none. It still looks high-quality. It doesn't fall apart. In fact I love the appearance of this amp. None of the staples are visible with the cover on. Once thing I wish would be different is for the little strap that is used for removing the front cover. It sometimes gets stuck inside and I have to mangle 2 paperclips to pull the cover off. The strap just needs to be a little longer, just enough for me to fit my index finger through it. Overall I really love this amp except for the recent discovery of the DSP lights going on when I play at "neighbor complaining even with the garage door closed" volumes.
I payed for the G120VR but they sent me the DSP which is what I wanted in the beginning. I got an unbelievable deal on this amp. Even $250 (internet price) is a great deal for this $600 retail amp. Get one, or if you want to play heavy metal concerts, get one and a few G120VRs and chain 'em together.
