Customizable. That is true. But you pay for it.

My cab was spec'd as follows:

Diablo Red outer w/solid back
Black front
Black Metal Grill
Black Spring Handles
Leather top Handle
Rubber Feet
Wizard 8 ohms x2 = 4ohm cab
one 1/4 in. jack

Well, I got a Bogner Ecstasy,Bogner Uberschall, THD Flexi-50,Z-Vex nano-head, Peavey Wiggy, Marshall 9000 running a Hafler/Bogner Tripple Giant.
Guitars are a Grosh Vintage Strat, Grosh Chambered Carved Top, Grosh LP Copy, 71 Gibson LP, Parker Nightfly Mahogany.

It's a good cab but seems over-hyped. I have a Randall 4x12 w/vin. 30's, (2) vintage 4x12 Ampeg V4 w/greenbacks, a vintage 2x12 Musicman w/EV's and the Earcandy w/Wizards. It's a little raspy, which may be the Wizards which I'm not used to. I don't think the bottom end is as defined as I was expecting. It's ok for some things, but not something I'm going to rave about. May favorite is a tie between the Musicman and the Ampeg V4. I haven't tried switching out the speakers with Celestions. I report back when I do it.

Reliability : 5
speaker cab...

I will say that the way they put the handles on looks like sh1t. They moved them in about to 1/3 of the way. I presume to ofset the weight from the speakers when your carying them, but it looks retarded. I can't fix it now because it will leave holes.

Customer Support : 6
Takes awhile to hear from them. They don't always return calls and emails quickly. I wouldn't say they avoid you. They just haven't got it together. The owner is friendly for what it's worth.

The cabinet took a month to build. That's a little too long for me.

Overall Rating : 6
Playing over 20 years.
It's an expensive cabinet for decent not amazing sound.
Solidly built, but you really should listen before you buy.
If stolen, I would probably buy another Musicman cab or more EV speakers.

I am a recording engineer and long time guitarist/ musician. I have a studio that's in storage at the moment due to relocation. I tried the cab out at my temporary residence. I'll give it another go when I get the studio set-up in PDX. Maybe my views will change.

I kinda think this thing is over rated.

Solid Birch, and Mahogany, Trans Purple Finish, Purple covering, Black Stretched Aluminum Grill, Black Side Dish Handles, and two ports.

Wired for Stereo L & R. 1 Eminence GB12 50W and 1 eminence Ledgend 121 75W Speaker.

The Best looking and Sounding Cab I've ever seen hands down.

Sound Quality : 10
I use a Digitech GSP2101 Artist, a T.C. Electronic G-Major, Peavey Classic 50/50 Power Amp, Digital Music Corp Control One, Digitech Whammy Pedal, Dunlop Zakk Wylde Wah, MXR Wylde Overdrive, MXR EVH Phase 90, Digitech Synth/Wah Pdeal, Boss TU2, and Tesla and Ruby Tubes.

I went from a Peavey M412 Straight Cab to an Ear Candy Buzzbomb 2x12, and all I have to say is THANX TIM!!! The Peavey is going in a dumpster somewhere.

First off I plug in and have to back off almost every frequency in my Digitechs 10 band Tube EQ. I started everything off at flat (0db) and only had to tweak between + & - 2-3db either cut or boost. With the Peavey 4x12 I was pushing +6 to 10 db some frequencies.

Overall my tone has increased in every direction. Full tight bass no farts, mids that will tear you face off, and the Highs sizzle and are crisp, but are not overbearing. Just a sweet sounding Cab. The tone is unbelievable!!!

I set this up while the drummer was putting up his kit in a large wharehouse where we jam. I turned it on and he was like "damn turn it down!!" I went from pushing 100w into a 300w Peavey Cab to putting 100W into a 125W CAB....KABLAM!!! it's is almost too loud.

We did a show a couple of days after that, and the sound guy was threatening me with a blanket over my amp. Nobody could hear me before, and now everybody wants me to turn it down.

Reliability : 10
The Craftsmanship is like nothing I have ever seen. Tim was the most help of anyone I have ever had service from hands down. Built like a tank and if I did need any sort of support I would look forward to talking to Tim again. Great Guy.

Customer Support : 10
When I asked him about speakers He asked me who all of my influences were. What I played through from guitar and pickups, cables, pedals, Preamp, FX, Poweramp, and cab I had. Those were a couple of intense emails.

Very cool he either really cares or is sitting back there just laughin' at us tone nerds rant about what our holly grail of tone is.

Actually both of my bands were playing opening and closing for a Freak Show. The guy spits fire and I didn't want lamp oil all over my new Cab.

I put an order in over the phone with Tim's wife, and Tim called me himself a few minutes later asking me about the show, and making sure I was getting the right cover. It was there in 2 days. He said if I got video of the show he would pay the shipping on a copy of it.

Needless to say if I need another Cab I'm doing my shopping at www.earcandycabs.com and nowhere else. I wish I could turn this category up to 11, but it only goes up to 10.

Overall Rating : 10
I've been playing 21 years. I started with Chuck Berry and Eddie Van Halen, and have gone through every shredder phase since Yngwie showed us the Sweep Arpeggio. If it's technical I have a copy of it somewhere.

If it were stolen...Hell yea...get me to a computer I need to designing another one.

There is no comparison to any other Cab out there. This one will tear them to shreds. Especially since you design it yourself, and can put about any speaker in it you want.

Love it could never hate it...did I mention. it's like 50 lbs. So light I fell in love.

If I wish it had anything else I need to kick myself cause I designed it.

Buzz Bomb 212 Loaded with Eminence Wizards -
- Front and Back 12 Ply mahogany
- Surround 12 Ply Birch with Maple Cap

I was skeptical at first ordering this cab without ever hearing one in person - I am a self acknowledged Tone Freak - and was looking to upgrade my cabinets from a couple Custom Genz Benz G-flex's.
The Features of the Buzz Bomb are anything you want them to be, It is a custom cab, and Tim (the owner) builds them to your specs. Features for a cab in this sense, are a ten. If you want it done, Tim can probally do it.

Sound Quality : 10
First we get to sounds - Oh my God.

This wanst an upgrade from something crappy to something nice... i had very nice, and I simply wanted to work with a new company and get some new products. Upon getting this cab, I have to say, the over all appearance blew my mind. it was beautiful, as others have described. Its exactly what I wanted when I made the order, but looks arent worth a damn without sound.
Studio -
Luckily, I got the cab just in time to do one last song we were working on in the studio. Time old test was first, of throwing a sm57 in front of it, and seeing what we got (with proper micing of course)
I run a vintage Gibson as well as a PRS through a Mesa Dual Rectifier loaded with full Tung Sol NOS tubes. I had been using this amp for all our studio work, but as soon as I hit the first cleans notes..i heard the Engineer In the headphones "holy shi*t, come up here and listen." we recorded a quick loop, and I went to the control room, and i must say, there was a marked difference in my tone, as well as how lush and full it sounded, with only a 57. Crazy. I instantly wanted to redo all the tracks with this cab, (but im poor so that is not gonna happen).
In short, for studio, this is an amazing instrument. If you have a good rig now, you will be shocked to hear what one of these cabs can do. Words wont justify, buy one, and listen for yourself - I know that you will be impressed.
Live - aside from the, "wow, that cab looks awesome" Live this cab is reliable, rugged, and sounds equally amazing as in the studio. While soundmen tend to butcher your sound anyway, so over all noticing the tone off stage is hard, the dynamics and feel are a thousand times better. You work with and control your speaker cab, instead of hoping the feedback fades just right, or the pinch harmonic flies nice and bright - no surprises, it performs like a worldclass cab should - no...it sets the bar for what a worldclass cab should be. Honestly, Some other manufactures better get in line because once these cabs get a bit more exposure, other companies will have to be playing catch up.

Reliability : 10
Mostly covered above. Solid solid build and lifetime warranty. can we say "we stand behind our products?" I know tim will take care of me, as well as all of his customers.

Customer Support : 10
duh. its custom cabs, and tim will answer you back every email and phone call, as long and detailed as he has to be, as much as often. Havent had any support problems, but i know he is easily reachable, and willing to help whenever needed.

Overall Rating : No Opinion
Great cab, Great company, great great great. I have played alot of guitars amps and cabs. This cab company will be my last, there is nothing that can beat them.

2006 Earcandy Buzzbomb. Let's replace the word features with options. They can make pretty much any color or material combination that you want. Mine is black tolex with a stained blue--they call it trans blue--front. Two circular grills instead of a full face grill. Mono, stereo, whatever you want. You can get it unloaded (as I did) or loaded with your choice of a few different brand of speakers, all of which are high quality and/or name brand.

Sound Quality : 10
Well, Earcandy claims that their 2X12 will smoke any 2X12 and most 4X12s. What a load of crap, right? Wrong! It completely smokes my Avatar 2X12 & 4X12 (with the same speakers mind you...V30 & G12H30 mix and X pattern), murders my Crate Blue Voodoo 4X12 and my Hughes & Kettner triamp 4X12s. That's the top of the line H&K, not the cheapo stuff. It has just as much or more bass than the other cabs, but the big difference is how clear the sound is. No muffling or farting out when palm muting.

I got it for my Vox Valvetronix AD60VTX and it opened that amp right up. I had so much fun modding patches and getting more out of them and making them sound closer to the real thing. Absoloutely the best 2X12 or 4X12 I've ever had, including Marshalls, Line 6, Fender etc... I've never had a Boogie so I can't compare, but the Earcandy is top of the line merchandise. Check out eBAY--ever see any on eBAY except for the new ones that Earcandy themselves sell? When you get it, you keep it. I'm a bargain hunter so I searched ebay for months hoping to score one, and I only saw one but it didn't have the speakers I wanted. I finally bit the bullet and got this one straight from the source and it's worth twice what I paid for it. This cab fills the room.

Reliability : No Opinion
It feels like you could use it to beat someone to death with, rest your car on it while fixing a flat or doing a brake job, then go record a classic album/CD. I'd gig without backup. Only had it a week so I can't say for sure.

Customer Support : 10
There was some confusion--mostly on my part--when the order was placed and I got a cabinet I didn't like as far as the color scheme and wiring. Remember, it was an empty cabinet. The chief engineer and I assume owner Tim got right back to me. I asked if he would just mail me the type of wiring I needed and that I would just paint the front black but he wouldn't hear of it. He actually built me a new cabinet and shipped it to me BEFORE I SENT HIM BACK THE OTHER ONE!!! Now who the hell does that? When I got the new cabinet, one of the rubber feet was broken. No sweat, I just glued it together and put it back on. It's actually stronger now but again, Tim wouldn't hear of a defective part being on his cabinet and is sending me a new one. He got a bad batch as others had complained of this as well--this is NOT a common occurance at Earcandy as you can see from the other reviews.

Overall Rating : 10
Look, I HATE the usual HC review where everything is a 10. I'm 42 years old and not too much in life is a 10. I didn't even think Bo Derek was a ten. A solid 8, but not a 10. When you play for 27 years, tens are hard to come by so I do NOT give this rating on a "honeymoon" or the latest "fad". I've never heard a 2X12, or 4X12 that sounded so nice and clear and with such controllable and deep bass response.

Wow, I can't believe I've never written a review for my BuzzBomb! Its a cab, so there aren't much in the 'features' dept., except for that fact that its handmade by a real cool guy with all top quality components. Stereo and mono inputs, side handles, customized grey tolex and black front with black metal grill. Looks really slick, mine has 2 Eminence legend 125s, 4 ohms. As decked out as a cab can be. I might try other speakers someday, but wanted to give these some time to break in and develope their sound.

Sound Quality : 10
I've used several guitars with this cab - Gibson blueshawk with blues 90 pus, Epi Les Paul Jr. with an Evans EL-2 humbucker, Mexi-Fender strat with stock pus, Gibson SG special with 490r&t pus, and now a Washburn Idol WI66 Pro (sick guitar!) with Seymour Duncan custom 59 neck pu and Custom Custom bridge pu. All kinds of effects, I won't get into it. I have the cab paired with a Sunn Concert Lead head, 210 watts, super trebly bright head.

Between the head and this cab, I have a fairly compact, inexpensive rig that can just blast the hell out of much larger and more expensive setups. Yes, the Sunn is solid state, but its built differently than others and has a compressed, tube-like sound that really cuts through the mix. This cab adds extra sustain and growl in there, gives it a huge, huge sound. I've never experienced a situation where I could turn the amp up over about 3 and a half, its that loud. Being in NYC I sometimes have to take busses and subways to rehearsals and gigs, so I can't always use the BuzzBomb, I have to use whatever the bar or club has there already. Last I used a Marshall 4x12 cab with the Sunn, it was murky, undefined, fuzzy. Every other setup in fact makes me miss the BuzzBomb, it just sounds better and more pronounced. So much headroom. So much bass. It rules! I have yet to hear any kind of fuzzing out or unnatural distortion coming out of this baby, its just a nonstop superior noise machine. Palm muting and lower octaves and power chords sound dense, complex, but clear and defined. Highly distorted / effected solos ring out for days. Its the best.

Reliability : 10
I can't imagine what could go wrong with it. Super solid.

Customer Support : 10
Tim is so friendly and accommodating. I emailed back and forth with him, he sent me pics as he was making it, and his shipping as others have noted is beyond merely professional, its positively space-age! Later I wanted to change the impedence from 16 ohm to 4, he sent instructions. Turns out it was already 4 ohms even though I ordered 16, go figure. But luckilly, while I was at first unsure of my head's rating, it turned out to be 4ohms, so all is well.

Overall Rating : 10
I've played for 16 years or so. I had a Carvin MTS 3212 which I thought would be my main amp. Then I tried it live. Oops! Distortion was sooo buried in the mix, totally inaudible, even thought the level and drive were way up. Went back to the Sunn and the BuzzBomb, and realized that they were a kickass pair of rare quality. I've had a few amps over the years, a small Peavey, Fender Champ, Fender Princeton Chorus, the Carvin as mentioned. Obviously none of them can match this for quality or sound. Other cabs that I've played with my head don't match up, don't come close.

It looks totally unique, sounds like nothin else out there, and makes me happy every time I look at it. And, in my small NYC apt., it also makes a decent table. Sorry about that, but space dictates, until my band gets our own rehearsal room. There is nothing about this cab that I dislike, there is nothing to complain about. Other than that I scaped it on some cement and tore the tolex a tiny bit. But thats my own fault, and a little titebond glue remedied the situation no problem.

I had this cabinet made at the beginning of 2005. It is a 212 Buzzbomb in blue nawgahide, made of birch ply and mahagony front and back(which are painted translucent blue). I chose the Eminence Wizard speakers which sound incredible. The cab has recessed side handles and for ease of transporting. It also features two ports in the center of the front baffle between the two speakers. The best part about ordering a cabinet from Tim and Earcandy is you can basically build the cab on his website. I was even able to have feet installed on on side of the cab so I could make it vertical if I choose.I also choose to put the round individual grill covers over the speakers as not to cover up the translucent finish on the mahagony. The cabinet is the best quality I have ever owned and is downright beautiful.

Sound Quality : 10
I was looking for the best 212 cab I could find to compliment my Zinky Mofo Encore head. I am into very raw and dirty guitar tones ala, 70's era Thin Lizzy, UFO, AC/DC, Sabbath, etc. and I get that and much more with this cabinet. The overdrive sounds I get are downright dirty and nasty with a nice low end, punchy midrange and crisp yet not harsh highs. Very dynamic. Also the cleans are some of the best I have heard. All that and I know this cab is going to sound even better once I have had the chance to break the speakers in.

Reliability : 10
I have only rehearsed with this cab so far, but I would definatly trust it and have no immediate plans to buy an backup. I will probably end up buying another one of these just to keep at seperate locations.

Customer Support : 10
Tim was super helpful and very knowledgeable. I got alot of info and learned a great deal from him. Always returned my calls(even when he was very sick). By the time it was all said and down I felt like I knew the guy. The cabinet was built and shipped in a very timely fashion even when I moved to another part of the country.

Overall Rating : 10
Been playing about 18 years. I play a 2001 PRS McCarty through a Zinky Mofo 60 watt head. This cabinet compliments my rig perfectly and is a big reason why this is the best setup I have ever owned or ever will. I will never part with any of this 3 pieces of gear.
The cab is a super value. A Marshall 2x12 cab runs about $500 new. It makes no sense to me not to pay the extra 30 or 40 bucks to get a custom built handmade cab. You pretty much get to choose all the materials you want to use from the speakers, wood, handles, speaker jacks, covering, color, feet, corner pieces, grill, etc. That's an incredible bargain and the main reason that this is the only cab I will ever buy.

This is a state of the art 2/12 cab built for me by Tim and the great folks at Earcandycabs.com I have owned many speaker cabs over the years, including all the prized vintage stuff, and this piece takes the prize of best sounding cab I've ever owned, PERIOD...I had them load bit with an Eminence red, white and blues, and an Eminence Wizard....The Wizard is like a Celestion G12H30, but more open, not cloudy..The RW&Blues is sort of like a Celestion 65...The combo in this cab is frightening...I play outdoor blues fests, use a bad cat hot cat head 30 watts!!!...This cab has better coverage than a 4/12 cab, without the beaminess...go on their website...check them out....I had Tim build mine in a Dark Green/Black color scheme to match my bad cat head....this puts the production cabs to shame.......

Sound Quality : 10
From the Duane Allman school...It's just the best of all worlds for blues/rock.
never played or owned anything like it......Kills any 2/12 I've ever heard...The cab is deep.....speakers are loaded from the front, and has 2 ports...Great bottom,,,,tight...smooth highs...not peaky...strong enough mids..Use McInturff Taurus and a Les Paul.both with .WCR Pickups!!!!! no fx.....Evidence audio guitar & speaker cords!!!!!!! UNBELIEVABLE

-birch shell w/ mahogany front and back
-eminence Swamp thang and Tonker
-cream shell with croc skin front (looks sick!)
-2 ports
-candy cane inner cable

First off i run an ENGL thunder through this cab. When I got this cab i was expecting absolute brutal bass. However I found that while the low end is very good, It's not as bass heavy as i had expected it to be. but that is likely due to the wood/speaker choice. That said I really like the sound of this cabinet. 4 adjectives that describe the sound of this cab are: Throaty, chunky, thick, and clear. You really hear every note that you are playing! I compared with an engl 212 and though the engl had great spread, it lacked definition. My particular cab has a METAL sound It is very TIGHT and articulate. My only complaint is that the cab Has 1 Sound!! it is not versitile, however you can cusomize your cab to your liking, but for what I do this cab it great! Also I wish it had more mid-range and a little more spread. I really like this cab and it will be my only cab since I am in college and have no room. Though I won't be able to cover alot of sonic landscape this cab Is a great fit for ME. And thats reall all that matters.

Reliability : 10
this thing I built like a tank!!!! hell no, i dont need a friggin backup!! 300 watts RMS be'otch!

Customer Support : 10
Tim is the man, He kicks ass pure and simple, give him a call and you will find out why. He also packs his cabs for shipping like you wouldn't believe!! Seriously, when your cab comes in the mail you won't believe the way it's packed or the quality product inside.

I have been playing for 8 years. I have owned a few cabs in my time, Crate BV, Marshall 1960A, and an ENGL 212. However in my opinion while my other cabs weren't bad (well the crate blew) this one really has carved out a unique sound in a world of coppy-cat gear, this thing really stands out in a lot of ways and i hope to own this cab for many many years to come, and add a second whithin the next year or so.

I was had been looking for a cabinet(cabinets) to go with my line 6- 300 watt stereo head- after trying quite a few out, I still couldn't find anything I was willing to pay the money the 'name brands' were asking. Then, while searching the net and learning about 2x12s I luckily stumbled across earcandy's website. It wasn't long before I ordered up 2 2x12 buzzbombs.
One I had set up with a stereo combo jack for smaller gigs and the other wired for use as the second/bottom cab for larger venues.
Iv'e played out 20 or so times since I recieved these in late Feb and I only used one cab once- Thats the sweet tone that i get from these. truly remarkable.

Sound Quality : 10
I use a Les Paul Standard with a replaced bridge pick-up George Lynch model.
other guitars include a carvin ae185 acoustic/electric
and a sweet little DeArmond I paid 100 bucks for new.
All of the above guitars sound phenomenal out of these cabs, making me realize just how important a speaker cab really is.
I've played through the mixing board ever since ive been in bands and really never had to learn about amp/speaker set-ups. I'm very happy to have had Tim at Ear candy help me decide which speakers would be best.
I play a number of different styles of music and use alot of different effects- these cabs pour it out on every note- just like one user stated below- you really do have to play solid because mistakes will be more evident, but with the tone you get- you just have so much more confidence to rip it up- or dynamically soften it up when the mood hits you-.
After one gig I know I played a solo somewhat sloppy but it just sounded so cool coming out of the cabs I just went with it.
After the song was over, This guy that was standing right in front of me hit his chest with his fist, pointing to his heart and 'said' you got me right there man! right there! I thanked him and then turned and pointed to the cabs and said "it's the cabs".
He probably didn't know what I was getting at but I couldn't help but give my earcandy cabs the credit.

Reliability : 10
2 months and no problems. built like tanks. the speakers are just now breaking in so the sound gets better by the week.

Customer Support : 10
Why by anything else when you can get your speaker cab custom made to your specs and personally talk to the guy whos building them????
And pay less then those 'other' cabs.
just read the reviews- I did-and I'm one of the very proud owners of the best cabs in the World!!!

Overall Rating : 10
Ive been playing for 16 years and own a handful of guitars and a few amps.
If i lost one of my cabs I would replace it asap.
I love the sound and the look of my buzzbombs.
Iv'e tried out crate/marshall/and fender cabs and so far my cabs out do those other all across the board for what I need them for.
I probably would have added a set of wheels and a 'luggage' handle to my cabs for easy transport because they are pretty heavy- 3 am rolls around and after a long gig- rolling these would sometime be a nice option.
I almost feel sorry for the other cab makers. Earcandy Cabs crushes the competition.
