This was built specific to my request. Closed back cab, one Eminence 50 watt 12" speaker, 14" cab depth (2" less than standard) Ox Blood Tolex with Ox Blood grill cloth. I had it built for use with a Red Iron Lil' Mo. I'm very pleased with the workmanship. It looks great.

Sound Quality : 10
When I first got my Red Iron 2 watt head, I tried it on a Dr. Z open back 1x12 cab just to make sure it works while EarCandy was building my Sovcab. I have played Dr. Z amps before and was very impressed. However, this cab blows the Dr Z. cab away. It is very tight, accurate and highly listeable. Great high end clarity and excellent midrange and bass response too.

Reliability : 10
Working well so far.

Customer Support : 10
Tim was very helpful in working with me on my cab choice. He introduced me to the Red Iron company and made suggestions in creating a well matched cab for the amp.

He e-mailed photos of the cab when it was finished. I e-mailed back telling him that it looks good but I requested chrome hardware, not black. He had already shipped the cab so he shipped another set of hardware at his own expense. He bent over backwards to make it right with me.

When the cab arrived, I realized that his design insticts were right and mine were wrong. The black hardware DID look better in person and I decided not to change a thing.

I can't be more impressed with Tim's attention to customer service.

Overall Rating : 10
I can't say anything bad about EarCandy. This thing shouldn't get lost or stolen since I won't let it leave my house but I'd get another in a heartbeat. Fantastic product. This is the only thing I have ever graded with all 10's.

Up front...I have been playing for over 24 years, I teach guitar, play part time in 2 bands and write and record my own music. This is 2004 1x12 cab. Combined with it's size, weight and sound this 1x12 cab is perfect for anyone and any style depending on your speaker choice. The top, bottom and sides are birch and the front and back are pine. It has 2 ports for added bass responce and an Eminance Legend 121 speaker. The covering is a black tolex that is the best I have ever felt. There is a handle on the top. The back is sealed tight. I had Tim put the feet and hadnle on the cab length-wise so I could put my mesa boogie DC-3 on top. It also came with a speaker lock on the back (nice). Compared to the other stuff we guitarist have to carry around, this thing weights close to nothing.

Sound Quality : 10
I wanted something to recover some of the low end missing in my combo. I got it. The ports and extra deep cab gives this thing a voice with athority if it is pushed. At the same time, with the pine and the open back of my amp I get some really sweet vintage sounds. I counld'nt believe it when I sat on the floor with the cabs spread apart anf listened to the difference. My Celestion vinage 30 is airy and sizzles with highs, the Sovcab added a low end that dropped my jaw. It's like I have a whole new amp. Another thing that I did'nt expect is that the new cabs allows me to added a little more volume to push the Sovcab. We boogie owners know how DANGEROUS these "little" combos can be. I love the sound of my Sovcab.

Reliability : 9
It is very tough. I'm not sure it can break.

Customer Support : 10
I would not be able to fit it all in. Tim is great. He talked me throught the whole design process. I'm not famous, I'm not rich, but that does'nt matter to Tim at all. He is one of the best I've worked with. He made suggesions about woods and speackers and he LISTEN TO ME. Imagine that!!!!! I will not buy my speaker and instrument cords from anyone else, nor any future cabs but from Tim. (I will have to convince the wife though.

Overall Rating : No Opinion
I would get another if given the chance. I would like to try the 2x12 out.

Custom made in 2004. Ported and built with removable back panel for closed/open back operation. Parallel output jack to connect another cab if needed. I put a Red Fang in it and I love the "airy" sound you get from this cab.

Sound Quality : 10
I'm a strat guy and I play Rock and Blues. I use this cab for smaller gigs. It suits perfectly my style of music. I have plenty of options soundwise with the removable back panel. The overall sound of the cab is very balanced and I get an amazing bass response from this little beast. Tone definition and projection is great. Very open sounding and yes, very loud!

Reliability : 10
Hand-made, built like a rock.

Customer Support : 10
Tim is the best. The Customer support is amazing. He helped me to achieve the sound I was looking for. Extremely professional and friendly. He puts a lot of knowledge and passion in his work.

Overall Rating : 10
I've been playing for 20 years now and I own different amps (blackface Fenders and Marshall heads). I love this cab; it's compact, it looks great and it delivers big time. The customer support is fantastic, too...
I'm very satisfied with this product.

The cabinet is small and suprisingly lightweight, with a sealed back and reinforced 1/4" in. It features an awesome 1x12 eminence speaker and is ported. The red tolex is the icing on the cake.

Sound Quality : 10
I'm a jazz-based player and my tone is very dark; this always caused problems when trying to find an amp/cab that could handle this at loud volumes without breaking up. This cab sounded great at all volumes with my Acoustic Image Clarus 2r; the whole spectrum was balanced.

Reliability : 10
so far so good, i've only had it a few weeks, but the construction seems exceptionally sturdy.

Customer Support : 10
Tim, the guy who makes 'em, took lots of time to discuss my needs and was super patient. He didn't care if I was a big name or not, he just cared that the cab sounded good and I was happy.

Overall Rating : 10
I have been playing 15 years. I have owned several mid to high-end tube amps. I just discarded my faithful Fender Deville in favor of an Ear Candy Cab and Acoustic Image Clarus 2R. I would buy this again in a heartbeat if lost or stolen. No question.

This is a new 2004 cab. Features? All the right/necessary ones for a cab. Nothing missing. Using it with a Fuchs ODS 50W head. Sounds fantastic! Very versatile. Very well built. Superbly packed and shipped. Tim is a master craftsman.

This particular cab has a black leatherette/tolex cover and an easily removable Fender-silver grille. The driver is an Eminence Texas Heat.

Nice touches all around, good grade materials, excellent fit/finish, and a locking jack for the speaker connection.

Sound Quality : 10
Use with PRS, Gibson, Fender guitars. Sounds great with all of them. Sparkly clear clean (no icepicks) and really handles overdrive and distortion with ease. If your eyes were closed you'd never guess this is a 1x12 cab... it sounds much bigger, very well balanced and not boomy or shrill in any register. The Eminence Texas Heat that is built in to the cab is outstanding. I'm a big Celestion fan so was a little dubious, the only Eminence drivers I've used were long ago and truly not so hot, kinda farty. This is a whole new game - the Texas Heat needs make no apologies to Celestion or anyone else, this is a class speaker that sounds wonderful no matter what you throw at it.

Reliability : No Opinion
Don't know yet but would guess great given the high quality of construction.

Customer Support : 10
Tim is very friendly and helpful and very responsive by email. I would definitely enjoy working with EarCandy again.

Overall Rating : 10
Playing a long time, who's counting. Made too much $ with day jobs to think about playing pro. Like to play out with ex-pros for fun more than $. Very picky about my sound, I always rework any guitar I get and have gone through a string of amps before finding the Fuchs ODS (end of search).

This is a brand new Earcandy Sovereign 112 Cab.
I had it custom made by Earcandy, and sure enough, it's got all I need.
I play a 7-string guitar (clean) through an Acoustic Image Clarus 2R head, and needed a cab that could handle a lot of bass.
I'm not disappointed.
We discussed what speaker to put in, so my cab comes with a 12" "Swamp Thang" by Eminence.
I picked the woods (birch cab with mahogany front and back), the colors (orange back and front), a full black steel grille and other little details that really make this cab, MY cab.
Portability is a big issue for me (I have to carry my rig in the subway/train), so I needed something small AND powerful. This is just the right size. Big enough to resonate warmly, yet still portable (about 30 Lbs).
So it doesn't get better than a custom "made to your tastes" cab, which is why it's got all the features I need and gets a 10.

Sound Quality : 10
The reason I opted for this cab, was that everything else I had tried, either couldn't handle the bass (a lot of 112 guitar cabs), or didn't sound right with a guitar (bass cabs). I need something very specific for the range of my instrument, and although the Raezer's Edge cab does a fine job too (tried one in a store with the same Acoustic Image head as mine), the price tag makes a big difference. Plus, like I said before, this is a fully custom cab, so it's very personal, as opposed to some (albeit very nice) generic cab.
It sounded great right from the get go at home, but I wanted to wait and test it in two other environments. In rehearsal with a drummer and live.
Well, I have to say, in both cases it behaved marvelously.
I don't have to push it very hard to be heard (that beefy speaker and the ports carry a LOT of bass), and it stays clean.
As with any 112 it does have its limits (I can't go 100% on the level AND the master without getting some distortion, but as far as I know, no small guitar cab could handle that volume without cracking up anyway).
But most impressive was live.
I recently played an outdoors gig, and when I looked at the big space I would have to fill (no mics/PA for my amp) and the size of my rig (a 112 and a Clarus 2R are definitely on the discreet side of things), I was a little preoccupied. But lo and behold, it sure delivered.
I had to push my system almost to the breaking point, but I was loud AND clear.
So like I said, the cab will break up if pushed hard, but since that distortion also probably comes from the head, and we're talking levels that NO 112 could handle anyway, I'll still give it a 10.

Reliability : No Opinion
Well. I'm carrying this little thing in the subway (with a trolley though), and it sure doesn't seem to mind (although I feel bad taking such a nice cab out that way). Everything is STURDY. The Naugahyde covering is both impeccable and striking (black and orange is a great combination if you ask me).
Then again, I've only had the cab for a few weeks now, so only time will tell I guess, but I've seen enough gear in my lifetime alreay to tell that this bad boy is solid.

Customer Support : 9
This is the best part.
Not only did I get to pick everything I wanted, but when in doubt, Tim Paulsen, the head of the company, always came back with helpful answers in a very timely manner.
He helped me pick the right speaker (the essence of the cab), after considering what I was looking for and listening to some excerpts from my music. Now THAT's customer service if you ask me.
If I had to nitpick, the delivery was on the "raising the expectation side " (i.e kinda slow), but this is just so that this doesn't sound too much like a one-sided review. So a 9 it is. But that's probably for Fed Ex, Tim Paulsen is a delight.

Overall Rating : 10
It's made to your specs, it looks AND sounds great, and you get it for a very reasonable price...
I don't think there's much else to say.
A 10 all the way.

This is a single 12 cab fitted with an eminence modeling speaker. Purchased new in July of 2004. It has a black speaker grill, metal corner protectors and a single strap type handle to carry it around. I selected the "acid peel" colored cover... it is a cool orange.
Lets get down to business... this thing is a hand made custom piece of art that just happens to double as a guitar speaker cabinet. You will never find another cab made better. You always hear "If you want something done right you gotta do it yourself." well I can't make guitar cabs, but if a knew how, this is how I would do it. It also has a heavy duty locking speaker input. If the mosh pit gets to close I think you could swing the cab around over your head by its speaker cord to protect yourself... good feature.
I got this to use with my Vetta combo amp when we play places that are a little tight on stage. It makes for a nice extension speaker to fill up the sound. The modeling speaker matches the Vetta perfectly.

Sound Quality : 10
The sound of this cab will totally fool you. When I first plugged it in I was playing at very low volume and thought things were pretty normal. Like every other single 12 I have played..boxy and small sounding. The way to test anything is to not test it all all... but play the thing like you normally would play...
I cranked this thing up to normal practice volume and as soon as the speaker started pushing some air everything changed. It sounds big and round. When switching to heavier channels it can handle serious thump. Just for fun I maxed out my low end settings and busted out some serious hard riffing....this cab can lay out low end ..and while nearly everything in my house was rattling the little cab was not. This thing must be sealed by NASA for space travel !! Clean sounds where great to. I am very suprised how flexible this cab is. Just for fun a intoduced my sovereign cab to my 5150. I cranked it up and it sounded fantastic. Smooth....

Reliability : 10
This amp is made by one person from start to finish and it shows. Looking like a supermodel holding a beer and sounding like a custom built harley this thing is built to last. SOLID SOLID SOLID

Customer Support : 10
You will not find better customer service. They bend over backwards from order to delivery.

Overall Rating : 10
If a single 12 is in your future then you need to try one of these. There is no way to find a better built cab. Cookie cutter monkey see monkey do cabs are expensive and normal. They make you sound like everyone else and you pay for the brand name instead of hand built excellence. I have been playing longer than I care to admit and have the best equipment money can buy. I don't buy something because the hot band of the day is playing it. I buy stuff that WORKS FOR A LIVING. EarCandy Cabs are hard working cabs for hard working musicians.
