I kept the features to a minimum on purpose - handle on top, cool 'diablo' tolex all around except for a black back, one speaker jack, black circular speaker grill. Closed back. Looks very nice! Single 12" Eminence Black Powder speaker at 8ohms. Just what I wanted. I give a high rating for this category since you can completely pick and choose what you want and don't want - so the features of the item couldn't be better, as I picked them myself.

So far it sounds just absolutely great. I love the Black Powder speaker, it handles high gain very nicely! While this model is EarCandy's lower line speaker cab, it sounds huge still. Just their engineering makes a great product, even if its not ported and super-deep for extra resonance, it still handles the volume and distortion and effects amazingly. Sounds like just what I was looking for.

Been playing for quite a while now, 16 years or so. I have 2 other EarCandy cabls by now, one 2x12 Buzzbomb, which is a great, great cab. I can't quite compare this thing to the Buzzbomb, as it is the top of the line cab that you can get, pretty much. But, it still sounds great. Its light and portable, looks really cool. The Black Powder speaker is very smooth and responsive. I'll give a 9 overall, even though I gave it 10s in the other categories simply because EarCandy also makes a ported, several inches deeper 1x12 cab which probably dloes sound better overall. Still I love this thing and will treasure it always.

A 1-12 Earcandy.com speaker cabinet. Vagabond 1-12 cab. I had Tim build this for me in January 2006. I custom ordered it with a 3/4 back and a round removable front metal grill. It has two speaker jacks, a slanted baffle and a 12 inch Emenince speaker. I purchased a 1-10 Ethan Earcandycabs.com cab last year and I love it. I decided to get the open back Vagabond to use with the Ethan in larger rooms when my drummer really gets the chance to kick it out. Each of these cabs are great and they sound incredable together. This Vagabond is a great cabinet. The slanted baffle is a great idea. The cab is deep enough where you do not lose any low end from the slanted baffle. This design is something that I have always wanted. The 3/4 back gives you a fuller sound than a standard half back design and makes the cabinet fuller and more efficent. I use it with a 15 watt class A head and a 1980 100 watt Boogie Mk II at larger shows. It works as a nice monitor type cab due to the fact the sound is pushed up towards your ears and not towards your ankles! Tim really has it together. Call him!

I use a few different guitars due to the fact I perform a few different styles and in three different performance formats. This cabinet works extremely well with all my guitars and at all volume levels. Very well built!

I have been playing 35 years. Tim was happy to make this cab with the slanted baffle and the 3/4 back for me. I explained what I was looking for and he built it for me. I couldn't be happier with this cab. It also came with a very nice slip cover. I have some nice gear and I am very pleased with Earcandy. As good as you can get. Don't fall for hype or pretty things you'll end up not wanting to haul around and use on your gigs. These cabs are made for musicians and musicians need to get out and play if at all possible. Buy Earcandy and book some performances. You'll be happy you did and so will your audience!

This is a compact 1x12 cab, made in basic, but very high quality 3/4 birch ply. The cab is braced very well from the inside. The speaker baffle is slanted upward enough to be able to hear yourself - a nice touch. The cab is quite deep, so no bass response is lost with the angled front. Covered in black naugahide, including the face of baffle, which I thought was kind of odd. But since I can't complain about the tone this little cab produces, the covered baffle is just fine with me. Looks nice, to boot. The hardware used is first rate: corners, handle, jack (in/out for daisy chaining), all excellent.
Bear in mind that I am A/B-ing this cab with a pine Alessandro cab of about the same size. If you know anything about Alessandro, you?ll know that, given the huge price difference with the EC cab, it?s an unfair comparison. Be that as it may, 9s and 10s won?t come easy, in this review.

Been playing 40 years, a mix of several styles. Now I guess it's called Indy. Who cares? I love to play.
I am very impressed with this cab. I loaded it with a new Eminence Red Fang and powered two separate 6L6 50 watt heads, alone or in combo with another Red Fang cab. As I?ve said, the primary comparison was with an Alassandro pine cab. Needless to say, they sound different from one another. I also understand and allowed for the brand new speaker in the EarCandy requiring break in.
The word I?d use to describe the tone of this cab is, balanced. Lows are warm and tight, mids and highs sound refined and even. In comparison, it produced a ?less effected? tone than the Alessandro. The Aless has warmth and complexity with low mid accentuation, while the EarCandy sounds more ?dead-on this is what your guitar and amp sound like?. It does not, however, sound sterile. I?m looking forward to breaking this particular Red Fang speaker in, to see more what this cab is capable of, and I have every reason to be optimistic. Of course I played the EarCandy and Aless together, at the very end of the test. What can I say, peoples? It made smile real stupid like.

If lost or stolen, I'd replace it. It's small and handy, sounds big and ballsy, detailed and balanced. I couldn't ask for more than that from a speaker cab. Tim has done his homework in designing this cab. At this price, it's a fantastic value.
