I ordered this cabinet with Celestion G12H Heritage Series speakers. The Cabinet is closed back, and 8 ohms on the single input. There is not much else that can be done with a 2x12, as far as I know. If you want 4 ohms impedence, Frank has to order two 8 ohm speakers. I happen to know, however, that he keeps a bunch of 16 ohm versions of these speakers on hand, so he can turn around one of these at 8 ohms more quickly. The slow part of your order will be waiting for the cabinet to arrive so he can install the speakers. I don't know the wait time, as I bought his demo model.

This cabinet is really heavy, which I think may be a prerequisite to the tone. It sounds nearly as big or maybe even bigger than my Marshall 1960 4x12, but it isn't nearly as heavy as a 4x12. I like having a big tone in a cabinet I can carry by myself, and that it matches my Mod 50 head's color scheme.

If I know Frank like I think I do, he shopped around until he found the perfect cabinet, and then he started ordering that cabinet in his custom colors and putting the customer's speakers of choice in it. The two tone color scheme is more than impressive. I also happen to know that Frank has some add ons for beamy speakers that really smooth out the beam region. Ask him for his "Speaker Attentuation" if you order one or more Vintage 30s or Lead 80s.

Sound Quality : 10
I use this cabinet with my Egnater Mod 50 head. Frank informed me that these speakers take about 40 hours to break in, and then they sound really smooth, with little or no beaminess. No lie. They initially sounded slightly better than Vintage 30s, and then they sounded a lot better.

When I first talked to Frank about getting a 2x12, he let me demo his current prototype and compare it to my Marshall 1960 4x12 of Vintage 30s. That prototyoe sounded 80% as big as my 4x12. This newer cabinet is substantially different from that prototype, and it sunds even bigger. REALLY nice!

Reliability : 10
I've had no problems with this cabinet over the past year.

Customer Support : 10
Frank and Bruce have bent over backwards to attend to all of my tone needs and those of everyone else I know that have been fortunate enough to be Egnater customers. These guys are super nice! Email is the best way to contact them.

Overall Rating : 10
I've been playing for 25 years and have collected a lot of "vintage" and/or custom gear. My main guitars are my Gibson SG '62 Reissue with Fralin pickups (wound with a smoothing high end roll off according to Frank's custom specs)and Fender Custom Shop '69 Strat Relic. My main amps and cabinets are Egnater. My favorite Egnater Modules are the EG3/4 and the DLX, but I also currently own 3 other modules and have another on order with an M4 preamp.

I did not get to compare this cabinet with any others besides my 1960 Marshall 4x12 loaded with Vintage 30s. It's hard to find other types of cabinets available to demo, and especially hard to find them loaded with quality speakers. I can tell you it sounds a lot bigger than any open back 2x12 combo I've heard, like the Vox AC30, or even 4x10 combos, like the Bluesbreaker and Bassman. I don't know whether I would be as happy with another 2x12 cabinet loaded with these speakers, but I know I like the color scheme that matches my Mod 50 head. I also have come to appreciate the insane attention to detail that Frank pays to tone, and I doubt that there is a better sounding 2x12 cabinet available for purchase.

This cabinet is $800 loaded with Vintage 30s. The Heritage Series speakers result in a higher price. To reiterate, I love having a big, smooth tone in a cabinet I can actually carry by myself, and the color scheme is awesome.
