I finally found one!!!! I've been looking for one for awhile but it was definitely worth the research, long-distance calls, the rainy road trip, upset boss, and the money that I should have saved for X-mas!
Anyway, the features on this combo is simple and very effective. For those of you who have tried Bogner's Ecstasy or H&K Triamp may disagree, but the features offered on this combo covers practically ANY styles you throw at it. FOUR CHANNELS: #1- Any clean tones from the classic Twin to Vox, #2- Breakuppy Fender Super to a grinding but sedated Marshall, #3- Think Plexi and more, #4- Shazam!... Soldano, Rectifier and beyond! 3-WAY MODE SWITCH: For each channel, you can select tonal variations that is very useful... subtle but this is WAY better than those 'no impact, no vibe' digital modeling amps (I'll admit... I thought about it, there I said it) that try to get assortments of sound. This combo does it! TONAL CONTROLS: Clean channels and Overdrive channels share separate tone controls. GAIN CONTROLS: Each individual channel has a gain & master with a 'main' control that affects overall volume. DENSITY: Like the defunct FATBOY amps (Chicago, IL), this makes your notes/chords sound OBESE! Good for adjusting to different rooms/clubs. REVERB: Love it... not only does it have a reverb level control but this thing is designed to allow you to control reverb mix between the clean & overdrive channels. Smart as hell. MIDI CONTROL: Controls channel switching... very sweet. EFFECTS LOOP/SLAVE OUT/IMPEDANCE SELECTOR, etc: Yes, yes, yes... available.

I've played my main guitar which is a beat-up old Strat that has a Seymour Duncan Little '59 single-coil humbuckers (bridge) and two Rio Grandes (neck/middle); I also used my '86 PRS Standard. Both guitars' tone has improved dramatically... many positive comments about my band's overall sound. The only change... EGNATER.
FYI, we play everything from funk/jazz/blues to jangly to heavy.
It does it ALL with the most musical tones. The sounds are very full and very pleasing... it also can be extremely loud (100W) if your ears can handle it. However, the combo has been well designed so that with the features I mentioned, it can sound like a 'stack' at very reasonable volumes. My other guitar player just shook his head when he heard Channel 3&4 and walked out muttering "It sounds like a stack..." Also, very important... even with the heaviest of gain, the damn thing is very quiet.
I'm also very neurotic about my clean tones for funk & jazz and this has a FULL sound. SRV-wannabees... Channel 2 will make you consider selling those Supers (how many sounds can they produce... great amps but not many).

Don't worry and be happy. Very well built amps using excellent components... however, I need to get a road case since it was quite an investment. Otherwise, don't worry about tone (it's all there) and do what makes you a better guitar player... practice and play gigs!!

I'm not sure if I should be writing this but EGNATER has been sold to Rocktron. However, Bruce Egnater is one of the nicest people I have dealt with in the music industry. Very supportive! I just wish there were more people like him in the 'high-end' music market.

If you can't tell... I LOVE THIS AMP!!!! I've been searching for a multi-channel combo amp for years since the release of Boogie's Mark IV since I play alot of styles at our gigs. Like I said, the disappointments almost made me seriously consider one of those digital modeling amp... (gag). This amp has a serious emphasis on providing a well-balanced selection of tones unlike most that can give you ripping distortion but weak clean tones. If you want to end the time-consuming search for the 'Mecca' of Tones, then try doing some research and find one for yourself.
Also, once Rocktron begins shipping the new Egnater-designed products, I'm sure that the quality and value will still be there as Rocktron is known for some really cool stuff. If you can't find an used Egnater then look forward to January becuz that's when it's officially being released.
