I'm using the Cannibus Rex with my Peavey Classic 30. Actually, the speaker is housed in a seperate cabinet I made that's about the same size as the as C30's cabinet. I'm using this as the main with no speaker in the C30's cab. I did this for two reasons. 1) The amp sounds much better. 2) The tubes will last a hell of a lot longer by not being in such close proximity to the speaker. The C30's a great little amp, but it has to be one of the worst for tube life with a speaker in the same cabinet as the chassis.
I've tried about 5 other speakers for this amp. All great speakers in they're own but not with the C30. Although I could hear the differances with the bass and mid's with each speaker change the one quality that I was trying to tame always came thru which was those "spikey-ice pickey highs" from the amps OD channel. The Cannibus Rex is the first speaker to tame the spike down considerabley. It can still bite but it's nowhere near as annoying as it was before. As a result the high end seems to be much more articulate and not a garbled mess of highs like before. The hemp cone is suppose to have a dampening effect on the high end which is what the C30's OD channel desperatley needed. The bass end is smooth but tight and the mids punch out without sounding barkey.

I've had it for about a week now and so far all seems well. I play pretty loud so we'll see how it holds up.

I don't know if this speaker is the ultimate for a C30, but it got me a lot close to what I like to hear compared to everthing else that I've tried so far. I noticed the differance in the high end as soon as I first tried it, and I was very impressed with what I was hearing. The hemp cone is very, very stiff feeling compared to the other speakers I've tried so it may take a bit longet to break in compared to others. But again, this is the best speaker I've heard yet for a Classic 30.

I recently got a Kendrick BG35 and this speaker seemed like a natural for the blues that I like. I play a couple of strats through this amp. One with a bridge humbucker. With the Jensen P12N that came in the amp it has a tone sort of like a cross between a Tweed and a Blackface amp. This speaker instantly turned the amp into a tweed model. I thought the change was drastic compared to the "slight coloration" mentioned in a previous review. I removed the speaker to save for another tweed amp project I've got waiting for me.

I would say if Your after an ultra smooth and fat tweed type sound this is the only speaker You should consider. Compared to all the Mojo and Jensen speakers i've tried this does Tweed like no other.

(bought new at Weber VST) --------it's a bloody speaker! what features!!! well, i can say that it sounds SWEET with a neck single-coil through my Classic 30, and treats overdrive really nicely using both my neck s/c and bridge humbucker pickups (i only use the bridge for distortion). so, i gots to give it an A for versatility as far as i can test it. i have to mention somewhere in this review about breaking it in - some speakers come into their own after an hour or two of hard playing, but this one DOES NOT! it (and other hemp speakers, i believe) needs a good hard ride for a week before you can hear it's greatness... but it's worth it, BELIEVE ME.

i got this to tame the harshness of the Classic 30, as it was supposed to have a "smooth, fat" high end. well, guess what, it has a "smooth, fat" high end! i changed tubes, switched from the stock speaker to an Alltone 1250 (which is a really nice speaker, but on the bright side), and everything helped, but nothing cured the Ice Pick Syndrome at high volumes without sounding muffled. the C-Rex has a sweet, smooth, sting on the high end when i really dig in in the upper registers without hurting - most importantly, it sounds very open, warm, and clear all the while. the C-Rex is very responsive to changes in picking style and position, and has great clarity in the midrange overall. the lows are thick, with a nice round chunk, but not overpowering. i'll never use another speaker in the Classic, it's pretty safe to say... for warm, clear, vintage tones, the Cannabis Rex is absolutely perfect.

sweet, warm, clear, vintage tones after it's lengthy and neighbor-alienating break in period - this is a top notch speaker available at a very good price as i write this. (it lists for around $95, which is still reasonable)

this is a very impressive speaker for the money ($89!) - features a 'hemp cone', nice. this heavy speaker reminds me of a G12H anniversary model by celestion, balanced high and low. the smokey smooth part is interesting, there's a little low-mid coloration in there. very nice alone, i'm going to pair it with a deeper bassier sounding speaker in a 2X12 combo to fill in the flanks.

i paired this speaker with an orange ad30tc head, 30 watts class A, handles the signal nicely. i use decent mid grade guitars (ltd, epiphone), with duncan custom pickup jobs. the output is fierce and clear. they say speaker and pickup choice is half the battle with guitar playing, and in terms of tone i believe it.
