I purchased this speaker to replace a 1980 Mesa Black Shadow speaker. I was looking for a similar sound with the added bonus of a MUCH lighter speaker.

At first the speaker had a "compressed" mid sound, but after playing for a about 8 hours it sounded better. The amp that I use is a Mesa Boogie Mark IIB head. I used a homemade 1 x 12 sealed
cab. This speaker has a wide tonal range that compliments the Boogie's range. It sounds clear on the clean settings with lots of head room, great bottom end without harsh highs, and very responsive to pick dynamics. On the heavy gain settings it outputs the sound with plenty of "crunch" with clear definition of the individual notes. It still reproduces the bottom end with out being "woofy". It souns good at high or low volumes.

It is anything like the Emminence made Mesa Black Shadows that I have in a 4 x 12 cab, it should be bulletproof.

My main issues these days with speakers are sound quality. weight, durability and how small of a box can you put 'em in and still get a satisfactory sound. The 2512 Deltalite does quite well in all of these areas. I have three in use, and after reading the other two reviews now posted, I may try them for other applications. I do a single with sequence backing tracks. I also do the occasional DJ/karaoke gig and live band work. I build my own boxes. I use two mains speakers, crossed over at 1600 Hz, box volume about 1.75 cu inches, and a standard-size 12" wedge type monitor box with two piezos - no crossover. I was using Eminence Delta Pros in the mains and the monitor. Alkso tried Black Widows in all three boxes. I spent a lot of time with A-B tests of all three speakers in both types of boxes, using a generic rear port - no duct - about 4" in diameter, smack dab in nthe center of the back panel. The Deltalite sounded the best to me hands down of all three in both the mains boxes and the monitor box. Surprisingly, the Deltalite sounded better in the monitor box than it did in the mains, probably due to porting differences. In the monitor, the only port I had was the hole left in nthe end of the box that was left when I removed a socket I had there for mounting the monitor on a 1 3/8" tripod pole stand, much smaller than the port in the mains. I think the deltalites will sound even better when I go to the Eminence-recommended porting. Last of all, I must mentioned that the lighter weight advantage is tremendously important to me because I have back problems. I am strongly considering swapping out my Black Widow in my combo amp for one of these for lap steel and guitar, and putting one in my bass amp box.

Great sound. I've never really found a speaker that I liked with my Fuchs ODS 50 combo. The next favorite speaker was the Red White Blues but its still wasn't as smooth as I liked and imparted a particular tone to my sound. I look for a smooth, articulate sound with punchy mids and a 'round' tone. This speaker delivers. Also, the low end resonance is around 50hz so its very warm and "breathy" at the bottom. Most guitar speakers have a low end resonance around 90-100hz which is ok, but not low enough for my tasts. I like a clean low bass sound. This is a great speaker for all styles of music.Sound great clean with an articulate midrange and treble response..a little crisp but not harsh. Overdrive is excellent. Very smooth with enough bite for my end. Adds a very "Dumble-like" girth to the low end of my Fuchs.

Great speaker. Very lightweight and the closest to the sound I hear in my head. I found EV's too aggressive sounding and way too heavy. The Delta Pro is a good speaker but also too heavy. The Deltalite is a great all around speaker. I can get any type of sound I want with it.

I have this in an Evans JE150 jazz amp. As you can probably tell by the wattage, don't even THINK about trying to make this speaker 'break up'! Seriously, for this clean application, this speaker really puts out a very warm clean tone with a nice solid and fat attack for the jazz solos and chord work. I've never thought of replacing this speaker in this amp. The speaker is also very fast and responsive. It also sounds good at repoducing the distortion/overdrive tones from my pedals too. I know some of this is determined by the amp, but the speaker in this case is mated well with this amp. The reduced weight is really nice too.

See sound quality - a fine speaker for high clean headroom applications (e.g. jazz & steel guitar).
