I bought two of these for use with modded Valve Junior heads. These speakers are similar to the alnicos provided on the Fender' reish. I've tried some different speakers with the Junior: a Blue Pup, a vintage ceramic 10" Celestion, and some 12" V30 clones. I liked the break up with alnicos best. After reading some reviews on the 102s, I decided to try a set of these. The sound is not too bassy as with the V30s, and the break up is crisper than the Celestion 10s. The Celestions were meants for MOSFETs and sounded much too brittle here. They sound as good as the Blue Pup, just as chimey and aggressive. Not as bright, yet better midrange and bass.

I'm a big fan of Eminence speakers. Although, I've had sort of a love hate relationship with them. All their guitar speakers seem to sound great in something, somewhere. They just do not always work with what I'd planned. I attribute this to their broad product line, it makes for difficulties when matching a speaker with a cab, amp, application etc. Look at the Celestion line-up. Celestion has basically about 7 speakers over three models in the entire 12" series. Weber is similar with a variation of two basic models and only 4 separate series. I've experienced muddy speakers, and it has usually been due to a match-up with an amp and can normally be corrected by tuning in the volume stage with component replacements. I've heard of people putting 225 watt speakers in a Champ and then wondering why it sounded crappy, when the reviews were so good. Matching up with speakers is not something you should take lightly. Too many factors.
These 1028Ks work great with the Valve Junior, and provide a lot of rich tones with good punch a clarity. They are an excellent choice for a low watt tube amplfier. The price makes them a fantastic value.
