Very light, eight mounting holes, one connector labeled plus and one labeled minus what else could I say... Oh, it's black

It is not an effective speaker, which can be an advantage.
Very round and smooth, good bass, I expected something like my bassman ri's jensens but the 122 couldn't be more different! Surprised I was.
Not much treble nor freshness, I would say you better have a lively amp to drive 122s. I tried it in a low-end Marshall tube clone with sub-par results.
In a mini stack from Jim (reverb12 head plus 2 110-modified-to-112 boxes)) they make a good match: focused, smooth but grainy at the same time, and very guitar-sounding.
Two 122s in a closed back 212 cab with a Randall rxd120 head absolutely shine, a very good match but with the 120 (very healthy)watts I took great care. Maybe four 122s would be best.
I would say 122 sound like guitar, lacking hi-fi specs but if I want those I'd play keyboards...

Well, given the low efficiency and power rating they are more prone to being driven too hard than other speakers.
Also, one of mine has its tiny magnet not centered and look a bit awkward so quality control could be better.

Use 122s if you want that earthy tone, with not much treble or icepicks as some say. For calming your decibels orgy down they are perfect too.
Not for metal (but with the randall head they did an impressively lively job so...) or a lot of styles but for blues-rock and why not some jazz too.
If that says something, I have still not quite decided if I am buying two more to put in my 412 (and I have my 122s since two years now). I find them quite confusing in fact, I can't guess what 4 of them in a closed 412 will sound like.
I've kappa 12, legend 121, legend gb12, jensen p25, celestion greenback-g12p80-g75t, randall jaguars and peavey sheffield, and I would say the 122 doesn't sound like any of them (would be a bastard of mr greenback and ms sheffield).
Very better if you can try one before you buy, 122 sounds special.

I've sub'ed a coupla of these in to replace cheap original speakers in old vintage amps and, on the other side of the spectrum, to keep older valuable speakers from being blown out in vintage amps. They've been great for both applications. As a replacement for crappier speakers, they very radically improved the tone of older amps. In amps w/ good speakers, they didn't degrade the tone, and in a few cases improved it.
Mids are great and bass is wonderful, highs are good but not super exceptional, but they also lack the icepick shrill that older and newer speakers sometimes have. I've put these in several amps, now, and I'm plenty pleased. In one case, they so improved the tone that they caused me to keep an amp that I was going to get rid of.

It takes about 20 years to determine the reliability of speakers, so I'll pass.

No one, including me, is interested in a list of the guitar-type-stuff I own or the duration of my lack of success happily keeping myself amused with noise.
So to get back to the point, these are a rock solid choice for the cost for lower powered vintage combos. They've radically improved some amps I've got and have been solid replacements for others at a very reasonable cost. The bottom line is they are my go-to speaker. Are others that are more costly better? Maybe. Everyone traffics in tradeoffs, often to their own demise.

Legend 122 in 8 ohm model. Like Anonymous below, I replaced the Blue Marvel speak in my Peavey Classic 30, but I went 8 ohm. I like the 6 oz magnet. It makes the whole amp a lot lighter.

This speaker seems to give the amp more depth and growl. I mostly play blues thru it, using either a Parker P-38, or my Mexi-Strat with a Wolftone neck pickup and a Bill Lawrence noiseless in the bridge position.

I've been playing for about forty years, off and on. I compared this to several other speakers. I found this one at a closeout on E-Bay, at a steal.

12 inch speaker, alnico magnet, 35 watts, 16 ohms. the magnet is quite a bit lighter than the stock blue marvel, and that is a plus when you're carrying the amp around, in the absence of my team of devoted roadies...

i put this into my peavy classic 30 about two weeks ago and have been playing steadily ever since with renewed enthusiasm -- it replaces the stock blue marvel. it really has made a significant change for the better in the amp -- i play blues with a custom strat and my 1974 guild bluesbird, and the legend has really opened up their sound -- it's difficult to describe a speaker's sound -- sort of like describing wine -- but i will say that i am very pleased with its charm and chime

haven't dealt with eminence, but i did deal with dave at avatar speakers where i bought it -- and he was very helpful - excellent pricing, good emails, fast shipping at reasonable expense, good packaging - really can't ask for much more

i've been playing off and on for a loooong time, and it's been a while since i felt so invigorated by a new piece of equipment -- i may not be exactly at my point of sound nirvana (you can always improve) - but i'm a lot closer than i was - this speaker lists for $89. and i got it from avatar for around $47. plus very reasonable shipping -- i was very close to buying a different brand for a lot more money, and i'm sure i would have been thrilled with it, but a couple of people recommended the Legend 122 and i figured, for this much, what the hell.... and it turns out to be a tremendous bargain. i don't feel that i'm sacrificing any tone whatsoever, and i saved over $100. by buying the Legend instead of the other speaker i'd been drooling over -- assuming it doesn't fall apart on me, and i have no reason to think that it will, it's the deal of the century (actually the deal of the centruy might be my nobels ODR-1, but that's another story)

I literally own 10 of these speakers. They are all mounted in 2 X 12 cabinets. Versatility is where these speakers shine. They do a great job of giving you that chimey, traditional Fender-through-Jensen classic tone, yet they sound fantastic driven an insanely overdriven tube amp. They are available in 8 ohm or 16 ohm versions. These are speakers so there aren't too many features outside of a cone, magnet, coil and your usual speaker basics. But I am giving them a 9 on the strength of versatility. l

My Crate VC 50Head sounds fantastic driving two of the 2 X 12 cabs loaded with one of these and one Reverend Alltone. This combination of speakers also sounds fantastic running off of my Fender Hot Rod Deluxe. When I am cranking my SUNN T50, I use a 2 X 12 loaded with one Legend 122 and one Eminence Legend V12. The combination covers the highs and the lows very well. And these speakers have a very up front but not overpowering presence. Clean or distorted, they sound very good. They are one of my two or three favorite speakers of all time.

Tough to break speakers unless you mistreat them or consistently run them beyond design specifications. I have not blown a speaker yet in 25 years of playing.
