50w 12" speaker that is a very good value.

Sound Quality : 9
Fender Strat w/fralin blues specials. Rock, blues, jazz. Driving a single cabinet with a custom Frenzel 5e3 head. I have been using a Eminence Cannibis Rex which I found to have too big of a bottom end for a 5e3 although the mids and highs were sweet. Installed the GB128 and without breakin could immediately tell this was a good decision. The bottom is tight and not overbearing so now there is good balance. The mids and highs are not quite as sweet as the Cannibis Rex, but in time I think it will get better.

If this speaker is anything like the others from Eminence I have owned it will never let me down.

Eminence has a great website with sound clips and comparisons. I have never had a failure etc. where I needed service so I can't comment on this further.

British voiced ceramic speaker. Was available in 8 and 16ohm, now just 8ohm.

IF ANYONE HAS A 16OHM TO SELL, E-MAIL ME!

Sound Quality : 9
Sounds great clean, overdriven or fuzzed out in either a 12 or 25 watt Fender Tweed amp. Great balance of tightness, fullness and clarity.

AGAIN- IF YOU HAVE THE 16OHM VERSION AND WANT TO SELL IT, E-MAIL ME!

Reliability : 10
50W speaker in a 12 or 25W amp shouldn't be a problem. Never had a problem with Eminence reliability.

Customer Support : 10
I e-mailed to ask about the 16ohm availability and got a reply in less than 2 days - pretty good for a big company.

Overall Rating : 9
Love it - I just need another 16ohm one!!!

American made-speaker and very nice quality. This is part of the legend series, which tends to be more budget-oriented, but I would say that there is nothing 'budget' about these speakers.

Sound Quality : 9
I would say 8.7...then again, that is incredible for a $60 speaker! I put them in my old 60's(highly modified) gibson 2x12 piggyback, which basically has two channels that go into that great classic overdrive the louder you turn it up. This speaker is very warm and very tame-sounding. It's ceramic based, but it sounds very alnico to my ears. It's thick, juicy and punchy too. It excels in the treble and midrange, being very tight, but the bass is just a bit flabby to my ears (I have had numerous eminence speakers over the years to know). Plenty of low-end, just not as muscular there as the top-end, so I probably wouldn't recommend it for metal. However, you may start to realize that it's not so much the low end that matters after awhile, as the bassist will fill in for that. Not a harsh speaker at all; no shrillness, not weak-sounding either. Great on cleans and overdrive, because it doesn't get or forcefull-sounding ever. Also, being based on Celestion's Greenback speaker, it matches up very well, being a little bit more detailed and a having a bit fuller low-end as well. Great rock speaker.

Reliability : 10
Made by eminence, USA. Solid, put together very nicely too. 50w rating, so two of these are not going to blow in my 2x12 ever.

Eminence, USA. Defects are covered, as long as you're not an idiot.

Overall Rating : 8
Surprising speaker here. Very affordable, yet doesn't sound like any corners have been cut when you hear it. If you are tired of not hearing your amp or sounding too trebly, I'm guessing that this speaker will solve that problem pretty well. It just has this beautiful soundstage and presence, especially in the midrange, where the guitar should be heard anyways. Music ain't all treble and bass, you need some midrange in the mix, and that's who this speaker was made for.

I get two of this, for mi 2X12 cab project, I was directly influenced by the reviews, I play guitar for 8 years, and obvioulsi I started with bad amp, but this is the culmination of my dreams
I play very diferent styles but rock (rush, pink floyd, etc)are my fauvorites and this speaker are fine for this.

Sound Quality : 9
When i finished the cab,I plugged directly to my fender frontman 25r (using the speaker cables) and the cleans and reverbs sounds awesome ,but the distortion was a crap, later a brought a v amp pro,
obviously i didnt have the gain, so I took a kenwood stereo integrate amplifier (ka-3020 for videos, audio and home uses)and I have to create some cables for the in and out. the results are great
Iam happy whit this extrange home-rack-cab-estudio

this speaker was installed as a replacement of a celestion 70/80 in my fender hot rod delixe limited. the amp has totally transformed. it now sounds like a limited edition amp. the speaker can handle my very loud 40 watter.

Sound Quality : 10
like the rest of the other reviews, this speaker is simply amazing. the sound is very warm, but is very transparent. my clean channel really improved, and the gain channels are no longer unuseable. I can't say enough about this speaker! very touch sensitive and alive. I went on the eminence website and checked out the sound, and the tones coming out of my hrd are just addicting.

this speaker is worth it's weight in gold! made in America at a great price, I now have to upgrade my other amps. they just sound muddy and unrefined. if you play rock, this is your speaker. my fender now sounds like a marshall in the gain channels. and a dumble on the clean. this speaker is a sleeper that's about to catch on and be "the one" for great tone. just buy it and you'll be hooked. amazing!

Wow, this speaker kicks ***.
I have it front loaded in a 4x12 x combination with the Emi Wizard.
The wizard is a loud speaker that cuts like a knive with articulate hi-mid freq.
The GB have sweetness and pleasant mids with less treble than the wizard.
Those speakers together gives a full and very loud punching sound out of the 4x12 cab.
And it's not as shrill like the v30.

I play metal, and rock, and I have used many speakers in the past 15 years.
Live a always use a lot of volume.
These speakers like it when they are played hard.
I also like the sound that I have recorded with these.
So the gb's and wizards wil stay in my 4x12 for now and the next years.

Brand new GB12-8ohm.... bought a pair...one is in a 1-12 closed back cab(which I pair with another closed back 1-12 with a Canabbis Rex)..the other is thrown in with a Cannabis Rex in a closed back 2-12...
Power rating seems fine...use it basically on a 50 watt stereo side and it cranks. This speaker is great for anything as far as I can tell. Been GREAT for whatever I have thrown at it. Mostly heavy rock, but perfect for funk, seems good for jazz and any other tone variations one might need.
It's a speaker..so...so much for "features" :P

Sound Quality : 10
Wow. I agree with the last guy. This is the best speaker I have ever used. It can do anything a V30 can do....BUT with very very balanced highs..none of the shrill, horrible highs that you can't dial out of a V30. Does a more refined version of the scooped mids than a V30 also....which is the whole reason anyone would buy that krap.
Fat.Elastic.Chewy. I could play stacks with just this speaker and nothing else...and I love my C-Rex speakers. These are better. (IMHO) Nice warmth without fuzz, fizz or grainy overtones.
I use this with Strats,Les Pauls, metal type guitars, etc. Run from a Voodoo Labs preamp with a TSR24 for effects and a Carvin T100 (2-12 closed back cab)
OR
Digitech GSP2101 with Carvin TS100 poweramp in 1-12 cab...matched to the other C Rex cab, blah blah blah.
Either rig sounds GREAT. I love hearing my notes come out with a smoothness that I thought could only be achieved thru better technique...which I never seemed to attain. I have ALWAYS maintained that it is the Indian...NOT the arrows that makes the difference...but your equipment DOES make a difference to get the sound you want. If you suck you suck...a $20k rig will not help that. BUT if you have practiced, gotten your chops to a certain point..you will sound good no matter what...however, it does become a matter of your equipment to get you that last 5% to get where you want to go. Anyway. Enough editorial. This speaker can cover any style I need. I don't like it. I LOVE it.

Seems great. Eminence backs up there stuff. I have a buncha speakers..so..there is backup...but I don't want to throw anything but these in my cabs.

Had a defective C rex before. They took care of it. Were friendly. No questions asked. Watt else you want? :P

Overall Rating : 10
Been playing over 20 years. Gasp. No, that does not mean "I know tone" better than anyone else..but I certainly know what I like. I love the balance of this speaker. I love the price. I love the fact that these are made in the USA for about half the price of a truly mediocre speaker like the V30 which is made in CHINA. Give me a break!! This speaker is VOLUMES superior to the V30 and the price is equivalent to Celestions even crappier Rocket 50's or whatever. I find myself in a state of reevaluation regarding gear lately...sometimes you truly are just paying for a name and that is certainly the case with Celestion's offerings. I can't think of anything I hate with this speaker.
I chose this after reading some of the reviews here and from speaking with Bernie at BLT sound regarding my options. I was looking for an improved Greenback style speaker. This is what we came up with, but this has better definition and gain characteristics(for me) than a GM25. And my notes are stretchy. Not even lquidy...more like..elastic. My bends have this great gooey characteristic while loaded with gain. Difficult to describe...but people agree with the observation when they hear my rig.
Hmmmmm. Time to go play.

Speaker depth can be a problem where space is tight, I couldn't swap it with my celestion greenback so beware.
Eight mounting holes means you can put it in a fender deluxe reverb, great.
Very effective speaker, more than my greenback (which is already quite effective), 50 watts gives you some air, great for those 30 watters out there.

Sound Quality : 10
I have compared with celestion greenback (gm25 i think), celestion seventy eighty (g12p-80 I'm sure), celestion g12t-75 and eminence legend 122 alnico.
GB12 is the loudest of all, the greenback compresses a lot, the g12p is round and soft without details or clarity, the g12t has no bass and is harsh/hard to the ears, the 122 is warm and nice in the treble.
None of them can rival with the legend gb12, it has all: volume, clarity, tight bass, and so much detail I couldn't believe what my amps were delivering then.
I really think of the gb12 as THE guitar speaker par excellence, bar none.
I am playing different guitars/amps through it and each time it excells, be it clean or crunch or insanely distorted, be it with a baja tele or ibanez rg7.
At living room levels the difference with other speakers is even bigger, you really need the details the GB12 is capable of to enjoy playing guitar at last...

A great speaker, maybe the best. True electric guitar tone, with attitude, makes your amp shine. Note that I had poor results with a cube 20x-30 from roland, seems that modelers needs flat large range speakers.
This said, the GB12 may not be your choice if you have a brittle amp, a celestion G12P-80 is a wonderful softener and sounds warmer (it farts too when given more than 30-40 watts).
So, as ever, it is a matter of good matching.
Nevertheless, I certainly won't be without GB12 anymore, especially at the price asked.
My first choice of guitar speaker, and you can trust the tone samples on eminence website (a very great idea, btw).
A FANTASTIC SPEAKER!

it's a speaker, it does what it does...

Sound Quality : 7
I have two of these in a cab, and depending on what amp I am using they sound either very full and kick *** or not so much. Much of this is my laziness by not re-EQ'ing each of my amps to the speakers I am playing through.

When I add this cab to my Peavey XXX 40W combo, which is a little dark sounding, it adds clearity and more top end and sounds absolutely incredible. My Peavey Valveking head,(when eq'd to a setting which sounds great with it's peavey cab) doesn't sound as full with the Legend setup. The Thumping, in your chest bass response is lost. And with my Randall RH50T (tube) head it just sounds alright. Not great bass, and a little too trebly, but again, I have that head eq'd to the matching Randall cab to sound good with it's crappy Jaguar speakers. And as a side note, the XXX still sounds good,( not as good, but good) with the Peavey cab it's just not doesn't go both ways.

I don't think these speakers are designed for a lot of low end thump, more of a full sound than chest pounding bass. I think it's a very good speaker, but different styles of music or different heads will make a difference. I play mostly Rock/Metal type of rock.

Been playing around 13 years, and am constantly changing gear, speakers, amps, guitars etc. Currently playing through the above mentioned amps with a Gibson Les Paul, or Washburn PS600. I would buy again for the XXX setup, but I wouldn't add it to the other amps.

This speaker has got the mojo factor in spades.

I had a Weber Blue Dog in my Classic 30 most recently, and it's a damn fine speaker, while this GB12 was in an extension cab. I thought the Dog was so perfect for the amp, but I gave another listen to the GB12 by itself, and I want to play through nothing else now.

I have a few very different guitars on hand. More than any other speaker (through this amp), the GB12 makes all of them sound amazing. Very warm, very defined, and very classy. My Ibanez AF105NFS in particular sounds jaw-dropping through the GB12.

Great character, and it likes a variety of guitars. If you have a Classic 30, snap one of these up on eBay, as Eminence doesn't make the 16 ohm version anymore - it's perfect for the amp.
