12" speaker, power rating 50 watt, 8ohm. Eminence version of the Celestion greenback.

Sound Quality : 10
This speaker has that woody sound that one gets from a Celestion greenback and just like the Eminence description from their web site this speaker has clearer mids and more focused highs than the Celestion greenback, the lows are open and full but firm. This speaker worked in several of my amps better that various Celstion speakers (Lead 80, Vintage 30, G12T-75) and better than many Eminence speakers ( Red Fange, Texas Heat, screaming Eagle, Swamp Thang). I started with a Eminence V12 but it was thiner in the highs and thiner in the bass. The GB128 is fuller sounding with great highs that tamed uncontrollable and un-musical high end treble that was inherent in my amps. I was ready to sell my Crate V30 and Peavey Ultra 112 after trying a lot of speakers but the GB128 solved the problem. This speaker is also the best I have used for guitars with single coils pickups. I quit using my Strat until I got this speaker, I now have warm full body tone with single coils, very musical. The distortion break up is not fizzy and has a smooth characteristic to it, not hard and spiky like a Celsetion V30.

New, this model ahs been around a long time and I know of no problems that this speaker has ever had.

Not sure

Having gone through a lot of speakers I have found this one to be great for getting an overall nice tone, It sounds the most organic, woody or musical yet can still handle high distortion without loosing clarity. The clean tone is well balanced from lows, through the mids to the highs. The lows on this are not like the Celestion V30 (very tight, focused (almost to much) but seem more open and fuller bodied.

12" 50W guitar speakers available as 8 or 16 ohm version. Based on Celestion "greenback" design with better power handling. It is what it claims to be...a speaker so ...rating is a 10

Sound Quality : 10
I am using both the 8 Ohm and 16 0hm versions of this speaker in 2 seperate 4x12 Vintage Marshall enclosures. The cabinets may have something to do with the sound since they are 13-ply Russian birch instead of the contemporary plywood boxes...but... I had tried some Celestion Vintage 30's, some G12M70, as well as G12M25, and G12M65 speakers before settling for the Eminence GB12's. In fact, I was originally reluctant to try anything other than the tried and true Celestion/Marshall combination, perhaps more out of habit than anything, but after some additional research I was swayed to give these speakers a go...and I'm totally glad that I did!
I perform with several different groups covering a variety of styles, primarily heavy rock, everything from Accept to ZZ Top...as well as having the cabinets available for studio sessions for a various genres of music.
I have used the cabs with marshall heads, 5150's, Hiwatt custom 100, ans well as Mesa triple rectifiers, all with great results.
The speakers really respond well to a variety of styles and amps and are very complementary to amps that tend to sound "harsh" with other speakers...ie vintage 30's are more nasal and edgy, the G12M70's are lacking midrange definition and dull by comparison, The G12M25's bottom out too easily and lack upper mid definition, and the 65's were close, but not as rich sounding.
Having said that, there is a noticeable difference between the 8 ohm version and the 16 0hm speakers of the same type.
My preference would have to be the 8 ohm versions. The 16 ohm speakers have noticeably more sizzle on the top and tend to allow some of the "harshness" to creep in, also the midrange on the 16's is not as "bell-like" when used with single coil pickups (ie SRV blues tones or Malmsteen/deep purple rock sounds)
The 16 ohm speakers sound better with "rectifier" metal tones ie death metal groups etc.
This is undoubtedly due to the fact that according to Eminence, there are different resonant frequencies for each speaker!
the 8 Ohm has a resonant freq of 86Hz, while the 16 ohm version sports a 72Hz resonant freq. This does indeed make a substantial difference in overall sound!
Overall the speakers are a genuine breath of fresh air when it comes to versatility while maintaining "vintage" characteristics.

Reliability : 10
No real way to tell at this point.....after several months of use, they still work. There is a 5-year warranty....fairly unheard of for most speakers! I'm guessing that they will be around for some time to come....

Customer Support : No Opinion
no way to tell since they have yet to break down.....but I hope the support is as good as the product.

Overall Rating : 10
I have been playing for over 30 years, both in the studio as well as on concert stages and have rarely been more satisfied with a speaker. I was a devoted user of the Celestion G12M65's in the '80's until they were discontinued, and for some dumb reason sold the cabinets years ago... after trying the Eminence GB's I doubt that I will go back to Celestions for a number of reasons. Price, product support etc have swayed me away from that brand recently, but until I had opportunity to try the Eminence I was somewhat lost as to what would be a suitable alternative.

what can I say, they are speakers

Sound Quality : 10
put 2 of these in a genz benz g flex 212. Now this thing is the best sounding cab I have ever heard. I can not say enough about these speakers. Best speaker I have ever heard. blows away vintage 30's. tight bottom. amazing mid punch, and nice clean highs. breakup is killer. very responsive. all i can say is if you are thinking of replacing speakers do not use anything but these. Am now ordering 4 more to replace the vintage 30's in my orange 4-12. these speakers are great for any style. classic rock , jazz, metal. country. using with orange ad140 and laney vh 100 heads. using les pauls and teles with varied pickups. duncans, emg's etc. play heavy rock, metal, jazz, these handle it all.

Reliability : 10
had them a year, no problems

50 watt guitar speakers at 8 ohms.

Sound Quality : 10
I put two of these in my 1972 fender pro reverb ( 50 -60 watts )which for some reason had two 200 watt jbl k120s in it. The change in tone was amazing. The amp is much more responsive to dynamics now. Like most fenders, the pro doesn't start to sound good until around three or four on the volume. I play a gibson Es-135 through it at the sound is great. Warm and natural with just a little grit. Sounds like Ray Davies of the kinks later tone ( not "you really got me!" ). When I turn on my tubsreamer I get the most beautiful sustain. These are the perfect speakers for fender amps.

Reliability : 10
I am a little concerned that I may be riding the speakers too hard. However, I don't ever play past 5 and don't use many pedals. If you use lots of effects I would recomend the 75 watt model.

Customer Support : No Opinion
just got 'em. no problems yet except the depression I am experiencing realizing how bad my tone was before.
