It is a speaker as a previous reviewer mentionedm what features can it have. I do feel it has a feature- it is designed to be a low coloration, low distortion speaker meant for use in modeling amps like Line6 or Vox Valvetronix.

It has a flat frequency response so it will sound brighter than other guitar speakers and it will not have the mid range peak that guitar speakers have. I use tube amps and it is not meant for me. I put these in a friends Duo-Verb and it was fine since the Celextions that came stock were probably designed around the same ideas. I know another musician who has a Valvetronix 2x12 combo and he replaced his Neo-Dogs with V30's and found it too bright and colored. The mid-range peak strikes again. H went back to the stock speakers

A great speaker if used as intended- for modeling amps. If you have a tube guitar amp get the V12, GB12 or Alnico series.

These are speakers, so how many features can they really boast: cone, coil, magnet, etc.?

I have two of these (16 ohm variety) wired in parallel in 2 X 12 cab. I use them mainly off of my Fender Hot Rod Deluxe. These speakers tend to be bright. The Hot Rod Deluxe has a lot of bass. These speakers do a very nice job of taming that excess bass. If you have a bright amp, these are probably not the speakers for you. Off of the Hot Rod Deluxe, they sound pretty good. And they also have a very nice presence.
I also have used them in another 2 x 12 cab where I had one M12 and one Eminence Legend V12. The M12 covered the highs. The V12 handled the lows. Again, it worked very well.
I have a mini warehouse full of speakers including Celestion G12T-75s, Celestion Greenbacks, Celestion Blue Alnicos, Eminence Legend 122s, Eminence Legend 125s, Eminence GB12s, Eminence V12s, Reverend All-Tones, and a few others. To my ears, the M12s sound like something in between the Greenbacks and the G12T-75s.
I noticed the mediocre marks given by the prior reviewer. My suggestion is that you know your amp and understand what any given speaker is going to add to your system. The M12s are good for bringing clarity to an amp that tends to be bass heavy, but I have used them in a SUNN T50, which tends to be bright. I had to EQ down the treble, but they sounded fine.
I also suggest that you make sure and give adequate break-in time. These definitely had that blanket-over-the-speaker tone when I first ran them. They broke in gradually, but nicely.

They are now rated at 120 watts. I run two of them off of a 50 watt amp and a 40 watt amp. No problems yet. I don't expect any since I run these well within their tolerances. Also, I've had very good luck with Eminence products. They come with a 7 year warranty. I'd be shocked if they ever gave out.

As you can see above, I own or have owned a bunch of Eminence speakers over the years. I have not had a single failure to date. I have e-mailed Eminence several times over the years for different tidbits of information. They have always responded within 24 hours. From my experience to date, I have to give them high marks.

I've been playing since junior high school - about 25 years now - and have the gear to prove it. Too many people buy into the marketing hype and automatically think they have to have Celestions. For half as much, you can get some very good quality Eminence speakers. If Celestions are the speakers that get you "that" sound, go for them. But if you are open minded, check out Eminence, Reverend and Weber. They but out some excellent products at very reasonable prices.

80w..8ohm..using the kapton coil raw speaker
salesman @ orange county speaker repair in garden grove..who prob. knew NOTHING about guitars sold me this

@ $86..some %20 less volume..plus blanket-over-the-speaker sound, compared to other speakers(celstion)..this speaker was pretty much a joke compared to my korean celestion copies
while using this speaker..it felt like my amp was forced to have the high freq knob turned down to 2-4
prob. best suited for muted jazz rather than any rock..
the mute will take out the high harmonics so its a bit easier on the ears..but can kill sound qual. since high harmonics can be important in overall sound quality..
that's what equ. are for if the sound needs to be customized

using s540/digitec dist./DOD fx7/v-4/celestion copies
suited for jazz or something..I prefer to have CLEAR sounding speakers so that I can adjust appropriately to whatever sound needed..
these were an absolute dissapointment..sold the speaker on ebay for some $35..piece of junk for me
