I installed this in a Mesa Boogie Subway rocket. The main reason I put it in was to get more clean headroom. The speaker did give me a cleaner sound at a higher volume compared to the stock vintage black shadow speaker. This could be because the original speaker was kinda old and has holes in it.

This ragin cajun speaker lacked character. It lost treble and base compared to the factory boogie speaker. It sounded very sterile and dry. I had trouble getting any kind of usable tone out of it. It was in there for probably a year before I put the stock speaker back in.

I just switched back and man what a difference. The cleans have a more "moist" fendery sound. It can do thin vintage cleans and warm round lucious cleans way better. The distortion is also way better. I get a more natural crunch. In order to get distortion on the contour channel Id have to get the gain too high and it was always more saturated than I wanted. But the old speaker sounds better with higher gain too. The ragin cajun didn't do anything well. Even compared to a blues deluxe with a factory eminence it sounds terrible. Again less bass and treble. Just lifeless. Made my Mesa Boogie sound like a bad digital amp.

I used this on a Mesa Boogie Subway rocket and tested it with a Fender Blues Deluxe and a few other amps and never saw an improvement. Always was a turn for the worse. Guitars used have been an Epiphone Dot, an Epiphone Les Paul with Kent Armstrong Retrofit P-90s a gold top with P-90s, Many very nice custom teles and strats. A strat I peiced together with leftover parts and a DiMarzio Humbucker from hell etc. Nothing really works. Im just happy I took it out. I did really want to like it though. I tried and I was in denial for a long time... It just sounded like crap :(

2009 Eminence Patriot Ragin Cajun, 10 inch, 8 ohms. Come nicely packed in a stars and stripes box, packed in form fit foam.

Sound Quality : 10
I replaced the stock Jensen 10 inch speaker in a 2009 Fender Princeton Reissue amp. The Jensen speaker is light weight in comparison. It runs out of gas quickly. I'm using a Gibson ES 339 with hot Classic 57 pickups for this comparison. The amp is nice sounding stock. To my ears it is a small Deluxe Reverb Reissue. But with this guitar it breaks up over 3 volume. Treble 6 or so Bass the same. Using channel 2 helps quite a bit. However playing blues chords etc. kinda SRV style and aggressively its history above 3.
The speaker turns into one solid buzzing distortion that is not pretty. Yes I can treble the sound up but that's not the sound I like. Also to mention I do not use pedals except for a chorus pedal. I am not necessarily looking for more volume but less buzzing. As the amp sits its fine for home use, recording, and small jams. I would not use it in a loud bar gig. Also understanding part of the early break up is the guitar driving the tubes. But I really didn't want to get into that area. I just want the amp the way it is and better tone and louder. Im not an equipment geek so all this stuff selecting tubes and speakers make me nuts. God knows I have done it. OK after countless days of deliberation and reading reviews on every speaker out there I bit the bullet and went for the Ragin Cajun. It sits about in the middle of the pack price wise. I swapped it out last night and tried it in comparison as the old sound was fresh in my mind. Then again this morning. First to note here my ears are ringing as I'm typing this and the volume was on 3. Using a loudness meter it only went from 101-103 to 106-108 maybe. The tone is crystal clear. I don't know how to describe tone and sound in speaker terms for you. It does have a more bell like tone on leads and driving tone on chords. Perhaps a unique sound of its own. (There was a time I could walk into a club and pick out Celestions in an amp). On volume 4 and above on the amp it still breaks up but ever so slightly but in a nice way. Not the cheap buzzing like before. If I back off with my heavy picking its clean mind you. I would say the sound is balanced across the stings. If anything more pronounced mid range. I can now use this little amp playing out with a small combo. I feel sure after the speaker gets broken in and I've had more time on it I will like it a lot. It did transform the Princeton into a kick butt little amp.

I don't know how to evaluate a speaker's "features" .... that would entail analyzing / reviewing its build materials & quality. I just go by sound quality. So, no opinion.

Sound Quality : 9
I put one of these RC's into a Fender Superchamp XD (a nice little pre & power tube-DSP hybrid amp). The stock Fender speaker was pretty much junk ... major farting in the low's when pushed, and less than stellar mid's. After the speaker swap, this little XD came ALIVE. The amp just played like a different animal altogether.... the low's and mid's were full-bodied, the highs were more pronounced. More volume throughout the frequency range. And, or course, the "farts" were gone. The RC gave the XD a chance to really "breath" ... i didn't realize there was so much clean headroom available in this little baby.

Reliability : 9
The RC is rated way above what the SC XD puts out, so i'm sure there'll be no problem with longevity. I've had eminence speakers in other amp's and never had a performance problem....just normal speaker break-in.

Customer Support : No Opinion
No opinion.

Overall Rating : 9
For my one application with the RC, i'm very pleased. Others have done the same thing with this speaker, and the reviews were all rave feedback. I add my voice to that list .... the RC is one HELL of a good 10" speaker. It's a great investment. If you need improved sound and steller performance, the RC won't disappoint.

I purchased two of these in 2007. One is a replacement speaker on a Pignose G-40V amp, and I liked that so much I bought another one to put in a speaker cabinet mostly driven by an Epiphone Valve Junior.

Works great in both applications.

Sound Quality : 10
Lots of clean headspace. Another reviewer said these speakers were very meaty without getting muddy. I agree 100%. Incredible sound quality here.

I play mostly blues and classic rock, mostly with humbucker equipped Gibsons but find these speakers also can to the Stratocaster thing very nicely.

Probably worth considering for any application. I can't say enough good things about how these speakers sound.

Reliability : 10
A very high quality made in the USA product. You will not be disappointed.

Customer Support : 9
All I can say that that Emimence has a good website, lots of technical imformation.

The best customer support is a good product that doesn't break down.

I'll bet these speakers will be going for decades.

Overall Rating : 10
Been playing 35 years, got too much gear.

Can't say enough good about this product. Far and away the best 10" guitar speaker I have ever owned, bar none. No other speaker of this size I have owned even comes close.

Get this speaker. It's like getting a whole new set of ears.

Bought 4 of these last year to replace the Celestions in an 80's Marshall 1965b 4x10 cab. Playing through a Mesa single recto-verb head and the original Celestions are only 30 watters and couldn't handle the power and bass of the Mesa. The higher power rating works perfect with my head.

Sound Quality : 10
Have 20 or so guitars from a bunch of manufacturers, mostly humbuckers. Play in a cover band and we cover most rock styles from the 60's thru some Nu-Metal. Like a 4x10 cab for the cut in the mix and for the lightweight hauling it to and from gigs. The original speakers in the Marshall cab would fart out and most any volume, so I got 4 of these from Avatar. They made all the difference in the world! They are perfect for my amp and style. Very tight and defined sounding, perfect US amp tones from Fender clean with punch to Mesa with grind.

Reliability : 10
Very ruggedly built and should outlast me....

I've been playing since age 11, and that was in the 70's. I am a gear head and hate using inferior gear. That doesn't neccesarily mean expensive either. I am a born tinkerer and little of my gear gets by untouched. These speakers work perfectly for me in the Marshall cab and I am completely satisfied with the sound combination of my axes/head/cab/speakers now.

I think the speakers are the most overlooked link in the chain. The head, cab and guitars are the pretty things that get the attention, but without the right speakers ANY amp will sound like ass. Therefore, manufacturers will cut corners here and you get an inferior speaker. It is amazing how a properly made speaker will make a mediocre amp sound startling. I would say these speakers are in that category.

Eminence Patriot Rajun Cajun Ten inch, 75 watts speaker rated at eight ohms and loaded in a home-made plywood 1x12 closed back cab. Bought it new in July 2005.

Sound Quality : 10
I play it at home using a Les Paul Studio Vintage Mahogany with Burstbuckler pickups, no effects, and a Carvin Valemaster 100 (50/100 Watt) all-tube amplifier. This thing is sweet - and it rocks. It has a low end growl reminicent of Johnny Winter. I play texas/southern blues, straight-ahead rock, and a touch of country (with an edge.) The speaker handles clean very well, but it shines when the amp starts to reach overdrive. The Rajun Cajun is a great bedroom speaker, letting my amp and guitar sing. Don't let that fool you though, as it sound even better when I dare to crank it. I would love to hear it in a 2x10 or even a 4x10 at a live performance. It really lets the fingers do the talking - It makes me work on the subtle aspects of my playing. In short, this thing is worth every penny I paid for it.

Reliability : 10
I've had it for six months without any problems. I've even played on the 100 watt setting, but not on full volume. For my style, I'm sure I could play it at full volume using it for the top of the headroom occassionally, as it is rated for 150 watts peak. Plus, it is made in the USA!

Customer Support : No Opinion
The warranty is seven years as I recall, though I doubt I will ever need it. It is broken in now and seemed solid as a rock when I installed it.

Overall Rating : No Opinion
I've been playing for almost 40 years. I just received an Avatar 2x12 loaded with Texas Heats (also Eminence Patriot line) but it isn't broken in yet, and I can't really crank it at home (wah). If my Rajun Cajun were stolen, I would replace it in a heartbeat. It is a great sounding speaker. I did extensive research and found this to fit my needs. The reviews here on Harmony Central helped tremendously. If I could wish for anything, it would be a practice room I could crank it in.

Cool metal frame, 65 watts power handling, 8 Ohm Impedance. BIG magnet

This speaker has a nice round sound. Much better than the Celestion Tube 10 that was in my amp. I put the Cajun in a little Epiphone Galaxie 10 amp. It almost doubled the weight! This amp sound 100% better now and it no longer farts out. I can't say that the amp sound as good as my Marshall JTM 60 1x12 combo amp, but it does sound great. Even cranked this guy just barely breaks up. It is a real good deal and a real screamer

Reliability : 10
The Cajun seem very well put together. I don't forsee any issues.

Haven't had to use it.

Overall Rating : 10
This speaker is only a couple dollars more than a new Celestion Tube 10, but it is 10x that in sound quality. I would not hesitate to buy another speaker from them.

I`m using a Crate Powerblock and 2 1x10" cabs (Ear Candy AAA+++) I also use a Boss GT-3 proccessor(effects only). I play both Gibsons and G&L`s. Compared to a JBL E110 the Ragin Cajun sounds equally as good. A little darker(paper cap vs. metal cap),suprisingly almost as much headroom w/nice breakup. I really push my speakers hard and demand a lot of clean headroom. I doubt you can find a better new guitar speaker even at twice the price.

Reliability : 10
Not Sure, but Eminnence has been around a long time.I`m sure they stand behind their product. I`d tend to think they`ll hold up really well.

You won`t be dissapointed, very musical sounding. Even if you can find used EVM 10`s or JBL D,K,or E110`s these speakers are a great alternative and a very fair price.

Features : 10
Has a cool paint job. A neat rubber ring to protect the ceramic magnet. I think it's a more efficent speaker so it's going to sound louder than most 10's. Handles a lot of power. It's fairly heavy so four of them would be a haul in a Super Reverb, etc....but what a sound that would be. Made in the USA!

Sound Quality : 10
These speakers sound great. I put two of them in a Silver-Face Vibrolux Reverb from the early 70's which has been pretty much Black Faced. I play a Reverend Slingshot which has P-90's straight into the amp for Blues in Texas. The speakers have a very strong, meaty tone without sounding muddy. At home they seemed to have a lot of upper-mid/high-end punch which I liked a lot. At a club they seemed bassier maybe because I had the amp on the floor and was further away from it. At first I was thinking they were going to be too bassy but that wasn't the case. I had the amp on five and rolled down the guitar volume for rhythm, treble-six and the bass ended up on two or three I think. This ended up sounding very meaty, punchy with clear-grind and super balanced. For me the sustain and tone were so good I wasn't concerned about whether or not it was that distorted. I don't think it was very distorted but since the sustain and tone were there it didn't matter, it just made everything easier to hear. I got a lot of compliments from people thinking it was all coming from the guitar. I've played this club with this guitar a lot through different amps and the Ragin Cajun's definitely put things on a different level. Very organic, natural and honest sounding. They made the tone seem well grounded if that makes sense. I thought it was much easier to connect to the crowd. Easier for people to hear everything without it being too loud.

Reliability : 10
I haven't had them that long but Eminence has this feature down...

Customer Support : 10
Super cool and helpful web-site. Eminence is moving out ahead of the pack in my opinion. They use to be considered the generic standard but no longer in my opinion. It's great to see these speakers coming out of Kentucky!

Overall Rating : 10
I think these would be great speakers for anyone playing, Rock, R&B, Blues, Rockabilly, Country. It's like my Vibrolux Reverb is on Steroids now. I use to have some nice sounding Blue frame alnico speakers in there but these R-C's make the amp sound huge and more alive. It's not a lightweight amp anymore though but that's like complaining that Gold is heavy....sort of :)

Good quality replacement speaker at very reasonable price. Using it in a Fender Pro Jr. The biggest plus is the efficiency - given that the "Special Design" stock speakers are Emminence Legends, 97 dB, the 100dB efficiency should, and seems to, make the amp sound twice powerful.

Sound Quality : 9
Using in a mid 90s Fender Pro Jr; the stock speaker was too muddy when pushed hard. Extra 3dB sensitivity means I can keep up with a Blues Deville with stock speaker. Used for classic rock, blues, edgy country. My guitars are Washburn Laredo (tele) with Kinman broadcasters and Washburn J9 with HBs. Both sound great. Effects are Danelectro EQ (for the J9), Tonebone Hot British and Cry Baby wah. The speaker lets the guitars sing and the amp crunch without fighting back. I used to run the amp at about 9-10, now get better sound at 7-8 with no loss of volume. At a recent jam, several guitar amp combinations were available, most of the players ended up with mine!

Reliability : 9
Based on the power rating and apparent build quality, this speaker should have no problem with the big 15 watts of the Pro Jr. It usually sees most of the available power, for hours on end.

Customer Support : 8
Recently purchased a 12" Private Jack thru a local supplier for my OR 80. Got the wrong impedance. My supplier called them up and called me back in 5 minutes to say a new one was on the way. Warranty says seven years if purchasd in USA - don't know what that means to us Canucks, but don't expect to have to find out.

Overall Rating : No Opinion
Have played off and on for 40 years. Sold all my gear in 82 ( '57 strat, 62 Fender Super, 66 tremolux, 74 LP. yeah, I know.) - got the bug a few of years ago and started to rebuild. Now own the above mentioned Washburns, Pro Jr, Orange OR 80, Gibson J45. I think this line of speakers is the best value for a good replacement speaker; the descriptions and recommendations on the site really help narrow the choices.

10" guitar speaker

Equipment used - 2001 Fender American Strat with Delta tone single coil pickups, maple neck
1992 Fender American Tele Plus with Lace Sensors( Dually Red in bridge, Blue in neck- with coil split for bridge),maple neck
Korg AX1500G processor for color or just a Dynacomp and Blues driver for fun.
In this particular setup the speaker is replacing a stock speaker in a Fender Champion 110(25 watts) solid state amp. The stock speaker could not handle the bass much above 2 in the clean channel before it started rattling. I use the amp as a travel amp b/c it is light. When I play out I use a Peavey Delta Blues 210. The Fender is for long trips and vacations. For the most part it has been a useless amp. I decided to try changing the speaker to see if that would help. I started looking for replacement speakers and ran across some great sites to help make my decision. (www.vintagespeaker.com, eminence.com, usspeaker.com) Based purely on descriptions and specs, I decided to try the new Ragin Cajun speaker from Eminence. Prior to my final decision I was considering Jensens as I had always heard of them being used in the old Fender amps. Price was a factor and I did not want to spend much over 50 bucks to "try" to fix the amp. I also have a Peavey Delta Blues 210 that I figured could use the speaker in at the very least. I popped a Blue Marvel speaker out of the Peavey before the Eminence arrived and it did help the sound dramtically but still rattled around 4 or 5. When the Eminence arrived, I replaced the Blue Marvel with the Ragin Cajun. Immediately I could hear even more of a dramatic difference just between those two speakers. The new speaker can handle the amp at much higher volumes before breaking up. With a dynacomp and tele or strat with the notch potition- plenty of bottom, smooth mid and clear but not ice pick brightness for high end. The speaker does not mask the solid state sound of the amp, but does make the amp very useful. I use it as a monitor at church while my main signal goes to the board from the processor. I use the amp with volume around 2 and have no concerns of the amp breaking up whatsoever. The main thing I was trying to achieve was a clear, smooth, with some bass on the bottom clean sound. I do feel that this has been achieved in this soild state amp. I would recommend this speaker to serve this purpose very well.

I have been playing for almost 18 years. Played semi professionally for 5 years. Play mostly country and rock/blues styles. I prefer the sound of tube amps. Versatility is the key to staying busy as a player!
I plan to swap out the Blue Marvel speakers in the Peavey with other speakers to see if it can be brought to life so to speak. It is a good sounding amp but just can't seem to get it "broke in" the way the Classic 50 4/10 I had used to be. I sold that amp to get a lighter amp. I figured two speakers less would lighten the load! I am back and forth over the Copperhead and the Ragin Cajun. I figure I will try swapping the Ragin Cajun in the Peavey to listen to it and see if that helps make the final decision easier.
To help you gauge what sounds I like to hear ( which would influence my choice of speakers/amps) I have listed some of the people I consider Great electric players with a good sound- Brad Paisley, Robert Cray, Keith Urban, Brent Mason, Jimmy Olander, Johnny Hiland, Vince Gill, Danny Gatton

Eminence Ragin Cajun 10" speaker in a Princeton Reverb (silverface from the 70s). Traded out the stock speaker for a Weber VST (Jensen P10Q style) that was quite good but a little too bassy for me. A speaker has no features, no nothing to say here.

Sound Quality : 10
With a Princeton and a good custom built Tele with top notch electronics and pickups, this speaker delivers. The Weber was about an 8 an this Ragin Cajun is a 9.5. I DARE you to tell me a better speaker after you have the Eminence in the same amp. I play my DrZ Maz 38 Senior (Celestion 12"), so I know a good amp sound!

10; sounds absolutely terrific... creamy highs and no 'icepick', yet maintains a musical TWANG. Plenty of those nice harmonics and pich harmonics are a breeze. Bass is very firm and resonant without boominess or muddiness. Webers are fine, but the other reviewer was right: this Ragin Cajun is a helluva speaker.
