10" speaker, 8ohms, 75 watts. My set-up is 4 ramrods in an Avatar partially open backed 4x10.

Sound Quality : 9
I was really surprised to hear "ice-pick" / harsh comments below, because that is not my experience with these speakers. I play a Dr. z. 6545 amp through and run a Mazerati (Dr. Z), and my friends weird GK power amp with somekind of guitar preamp through it. Comparing this to my other cab, which is an open back 2x12 (1 Celestion V30, and 1 G12H), I'd say this cab is much warmer. The Celestions seem more high-fi, more crisp, and tighter. The ramrods have earlier break-up, are a bit softer, warmer, but still pretty stout - they cut through the mix (competing with a very loud guitar player next to me) very well. I consistently get comments on how well the amp/ cabinet sounds. Seems to have equal volume with my 2x12 cab. So in the context of a 4x10, driven by a great tube rock amp (think hiwatt/non-master volume marshall) - these speakers are very nice.

Reliability : 9
Probably have logged over 250 hours so far and have had no problems. These are a great sound I can count on, if stolen I'd probably try other stuff first, but would always know I can come back to these for a great rock tone.

no idea

I think these are great speakers.

very bright and sterile sounding with almost no texture

built solid

never dealt with

This speaker is just as bright sounding as jensens with less tone all together. They describe as having a meaty tone. They should say its like a metal rod ramming out of your amp.No warmth or texture at all even after a long high volume break in period. Two other eminence speakers that I have are the cannabis rex 12" and the Big Ben 15" in two different amps. They are both great speakers.

Seems well built, has a rubber ring around the magnet to keep metal debris and such from sticking to it, good idea.

Sound Quality : 5
I replaced the speakers in my Roland JC-77 2-10 combo with these and do not like the sound of them, real 'beamy' (ice pick highs when you stand directly in front) and don't 'sing' when overdriven, very flat sounding. I had contacted Eminence before purchase and told them the amp I had and that I was looking for a speaker similar to the JBL D120F that are in my 79 twin reverb. Something that was loud, clear, warm and smooth when overdriven and they recomended the Ramrod, but they do not sound that way (at least to me). They are definetely louder than the stock Rolands and more responsive, but overdriven they just don't sound good. Clean there not bad, but once you add the drive, they don't 'sing'.

Reliability : 7
I cannot see that these would unreliable. Eminence makes good speakers, I just don't like the sound of this one.

Customer Support : 7
I emailed them for speaker choice advice and they responded promptly. What they recomended wasn't right for me, but I asked for there opinion and I got it.

Overall Rating : 5
This speaker is not for me, going to sell the ones I bought on Ebay. They are loud, but not that clear, not that warm and not as smooth as I would like when overdriven. It's also real 'beamy' with ice pick highs when overdriven. I have two amps, a '79 Twin Reverb with the orangeback JBL's and the Roland JC-77 with the Ramrods. Due to the size and weight of the Fender, I picked up the Roland to gig with becuase it's smaller, lighter and 'maintenance free'. The JC is know to be ultra clean like the twin and I have been trying to turn this into a small version of the fender, but the Ramods are not the speaker for it. I am going to try the Weber California 10's next.

Cone, basket, dust cap, tabs for the wires...you know.

I already liked the Neo in my Reverend Goblin 1x10", but already had this, so I gave it a try. Man, this is one fine speaker, and it really gave the 6V6-based Goblin a bigger, juicier sound.

Very versatile, very balanced, very clear sound with all of my guitars (hums, singles, hollowbody, solid)...I've owned around twelve different guitar speakers, and this is one of the best.

Reliability : No Opinion
7 year warranty, but it's new.

After using a truckload of their speakers, I've never had to deal with them, but based on their helpful website and reputation for good service they get a good grade.

Overall Rating : 10
If you use 10" speakers and are looking to switch, better give this one a try. Break it in with some good loud playing, and you've probably got a winner...it is certainly the perfect cone for my little Goblin.

10", 75 Watts, 1.5" voice coil, etc.

Sound Quality : 8
This is a nice sounding speaker. I'm using 2 of them with a Les Paul/Tele through an old Vibrolux. It's just about like the description - very meaty. It has a warmth through the midrange that begins to break up over 6 on the volume. At lower volumes, nice sweet warmth, At higher volumes, it begins to get some hair. I was actually looking for a cleaner speaker for jazz. But I've grown to like how these speakers perform. Still trying different EQ settings and need to really play loud to break them in. Overall, very nice tone with some extra bass push.

I'm getting more into Jazz, but still enjoy covers and rock stuff. These speakers are solid sounding for more of the cover or rock stuff. If you're looking for high headroom and increased low frequencies, check out an Eminence Beta 10. Basically, the bigger the voice coil, and the larger the xmax, the deeper the bass. That said, I think I;m keeping these because they breath nicely through the 'Lux.

This is one of Eminence's new speakers recenly introduced. They came out with two lines: the Patriot series, which goes after the classic American sound; and the Redcoat series, which strives for the British (think Celestion). The cones for the Redcoat line are made in Britain(!). The Ramrod is from the Redcoat line and is rated at 75 Watts, with an efficiency of 100 dB. It's advertized as gutsy, meaty and with nice overtones. But it's the only 10 incher in the Redcoats.

Sound Quality : 10
I'm breaking in a new Squire Affinity Special Tele (fun guitar, a great value and a tempting platform to try out some Rio Grandes) and a frankenstrat with Duncans. I've had a Marshall AVT20 for about 8 months; the stock speaker was a little anemic (yes, I know its weenie magnet is supposed to let the output stage of the amp interact with it properly, but I don't care), so I built a new amp cabinet to allow enough room to fit an Eminence GB12 12 incher. The improvement was dramatic, especially with the GB12's 100 dB efficiency providing a four-fold increase in acoustic power. Then I got the Ramrod and put it and the amp into the stock cabinet and cranked it up. Holy Guano!
The strat sounds tighter, gutsier and with a more singing top end, if you can imagine those attributes not washing each other out. The Tele lets you approach Mike Stern's sound, and the AVT20 is now one steroidal little box, WAY louder and clearer (if you wish) than stock. Amaze your friends. Don't you love good things in small packages?

Reliability : 8
I have a part-time business building sound systems, and a few of Eminence's PA drivers have arrived new or have shortly failed with voice-coil problems. Bad QA! They've always promptly replaced faulty stuff, no questions asked. Those problems have always shown up early, so a good shakedown run is in order to see if you're in the clear. However (luck of the draw?) their guitar speakers have never given me a problem, and they stand behind their stuff.

Been messing around on guitar for about 25 years. Gone through Fender, Boogie, Music Man, Peavey, Ampeg. Used to have rackmount processors, etc, not worth the hassle, a pain in live stuff. Try to be a musician, not a studio. Two or three stompboxes are all you need. Sound
Hope good 10" speakers don't become obsolete. Give us some more 10's in the Redcoat series, Eminence!

"Very Loud, Gutsy, and Meaty Tone With Singing Highs and Nice, Clear Overtones." The New Red Coat Series Of Eminence Speakers Incorporates British Cone Technology That Are Manufactured In The USA. The Ramrod Features A 10 Inch Driver, A Power Rating Of Up To 75 Watts (RMS) and A 30 oz. Magnet.

this is eminence's new interpretation (vis a vis the redcoat series) of the british sound in a 10-inch 75 watt speaker. i put this and a ragin cajun together in an old 2x10 bass cab and the result is astounding. this speaker really has some cut - clear highs and meaty mids. the bass is agressive but not as deep as the cajun. paired with a speaker that's deeper tho it can really fill out your sound. this speaker is awesome on its own or paired with itself too.

Reliability : No Opinion
eminence is reliable and american made. imagine that!

never had to call them on anything.

Overall Rating : 7
i built a custom cab with this and a cajun speaker......paired with an orange ad30tc head, this thing screams. i use mid grade korean-made guitars like ltd, stocked with duncan customs or other high output humbuckers. knowing your pickups and speakers is half the battle, with a great tube head it really sings.
