I dropped this speaker into my Sovtek Tube Midget 50 and kicks extra tail now!!! The original Eminence speaker that came in the amp sounded pretty good, but lacked bottom end. The lows sounded muddy. I read reviews on the Tonker(and many other speakers) before deciding to give one a try. Boy am I pleased!!! I've got a full-bodied sound now!!! It's added a little more bite to my dirty channel too!

Sound Quality : 9
I use a cheap, but decent Jay Turser Les Paul with stock pickups. It's not bad for the money. I've had a Gibson Les Paul Custom and many other quality instruments. It's whatever feels good in your hands that'll make you sound your best. My stock p-ups are a little noisy. I've ordered some S.D. Alnico II Pros to remedy that problem.

Reliability : No Opinion
I haven't had it long and am looking forward to it breaking itself in through more hours of playing time. In my opinion, everything sounds and feels better broken in a little. Speakers generally last a long time as long as you don't go too heavy metal and jab a headstock through 'em!

I've been playing about 16 years now(old school,I know). If it was stolen I'd diffently replace the speaker (and the amp) with exact duplicates, as they are both a winning combination for the development of my own sound(along with a few other modifications that I've made to my amp). The new Eminences are a sweet line! They're cheaper and I think better sounding than celestions!

put 2 in my Twin Reverb 1976,
less bass than the original Fender Blue speaker, but:
much more powerfull, more headroom, warmer and more even midrange, smooth yet clear top end, bass response very ok on higher volumes without distorting.
The original speakers gave more bass on the lower volumes, but bass farted on high volumes, had to keep bass around 6 to stay clear.
With The Tonkers bass can stay on 10 (has to also to get same response) BUT stays clear yet fat/round on any volume.

In other words: if you want huge bass response also on lower volumes you'd probably better go for another model. Overal sound is also louder on same amp settings.

I find this speaker very compatible for smoothing/warming up a Twin reverb (without getting muddy) and keeping the original twang, but not as sharp/icepicky (allthough if you like that you can simply dial in more treble on your amp to get similar result).

Eminence indicates on their site "great with a tele", I can only agree with that: twangs in a warm way ...
With overdrive (I use a MXR doubleshot) I was'nt able to try yet, but I'm convinced I can more and better overdrive and distortion sound of my amp now (and I can put still in much more bass with the stomp box anyhow).

I liked the sound of the original speakers, now I have improved sound:
louder
warmer, more evenly balanced
more headroom
very compatible with my amp

but I had to give away some bass response, which is not a problem on the higher volumes for those who want huge bass, and in my reggae band I won't have a problem anyway cause we already have a bass player ;-)

I guess it came with warranty and so on,
stuff looks pretty solid

been playing for 16 years,
got into tube amps 12 years ago, last year got rid of my Marshall JCM 900 and got a 1976 Twin Reverb on which I had to start learn playing all over again, and got a Tele instead of Strat. Overdrive now is an MXR doubleshot. my set-up is simple and sounds just great, and it only got better, warmer and louder with the Tonkers now. Low end IS ok, but if you want to sound like a second bass player get something else.
