Features : No Opinion
as written, its a closed 1x12 , with bassreflex opening in the front.
very heavy in construction and weight, nearly same size as my engl sovereign combo, but the combo is less deep.

Sound Quality : 9
i bought it as an extension cabinet for the combo. both using the celestion V30.
first i put the combo just on top of the 112, but that sounded too bright standing in front of it.
now i use both items standing side by side, with a little curving in it to have a bigger area.
moving in front of the same speaker in different enclosures shows how much effort this construction has on the overall sound.
half open back combo: well defined mids and very bright
closed box: little less brightness with added low end.

now i'm happy to hear bst of both worlds!

Reliability : 9
strong build, never had any problems

Customer Support : 9
good support. in the past i needed some parts for my sovereign, and just a few days later they were in the mail.

This is the Engl "Pro Cabinet E 112 V" cab. It was build in 2005 in Germany and has the following features: 1x12" Celestion Vintage 30 speaker, 8 ohm impedance, max. 80 Watt, dimension is 57 x 47 x 30 cm. At least this is what the label on the back says. If I got it right Engl did some facelifting meanwhile and now says that the impedance is 16 ohm, that the case was broadend to 60 cm and that the weight is heavier in the actual production. So don't be puzzled, the one I own is definitely with 8 ohm. On the back you can find a single input-jack (6,3 mm) and another jack called "Through" which can be used to forward the signal to another cabinet. This is very useful for small amps with one speaker-out only, you can put two E 112 V cabs on them anyhow. There's also a solid grip on top of the case for better transport. The wood is folded birch and it has a metal front-grill. Although it is only a 1x12, the cab is really heavy and you need either strong muscles for longer ways or both hands to lift it. I bought it in addition to my Engl 412 VS because I can't lift that one into my car alone. Now if there's a small gig or some jam-session, I simply take the E 112 V cab and everything is fine. To sum it up: this small cab has everything a small cab needs.

Sound Quality : 10
It simply sounds great! And I mean really great and outstanding. (I should stop here but I think some further explanation could still help you guys out there) The character of the sound is determined by the vintage 30 speaker, that means very strong mids, thight bottom and discrete high frequencies. This fits very good to Hard Rock- and Metal-sounds, but may also be a nice one for some people searching for chrunchy sounds or even some bluesy stuff. If you like Fender-sounds, go and get yourself a Fender. The cab is fully closed exept one small hole in the front which is for the better reflection of the low frequencies. The combination of a closed cab and a vintage 30 is always the same - it's right in the face, a very direct sound with a lot of presence. I play the cab with an Engl Fireball, may guitar is tuned to D. Both clean and high gain sounds are delivered perfectly by the cab. Even together with drums and bass, you always hear what you are playing, no mesh at all.
Okay, why did I write this "sounds-best-of-all"-stuff in the beginning: I play guitar for 12 years in several bands (all Hard Rock or Metal). I owned many cabs and still can compare my Engls to many cabs from my friends (one of them even studied audio technics). We compared the Engl cab while playing with the band to the following cabs concerning overdriven sounds:

4x12" Randall Warhead-Cab with V30
4x10" Marshall Lead
4x12" Marshall JCM 900 Lead with V30
4x12" Marshall JCM 800
1x12" Hughes Kettner
4x12" Hughes Kettner
1x12" Ashdown
1x12" Peavey
4X12" Engl VS with V30

The result was astonishing: the only cab that had such a present, loud but still clear sound as the E 112 V was the Engl 412 VS. We really couldn't hear big differences between the Engl and the other 4x12" cabs. The sound was even better and the lack of sound-volume was marginal. I was surprised by myself that it sounded quite a lot better (warmer, better low frequencies) than the JCM 900 Lead cab and the Randall cab - although they use the same speakers! It must have something to do with the construction of the case - I can't explain it in any other way. If you want to hear something sounding very similar to the Engl which doesn't come from Engl, take a Mesa Boogie cab with vintage 30s. But that's not new I think...

This cab can seriously be taken as a replacement for most of the standard/low-cost 4x12" cabs. For a big stage or really loud Metal I still use the Engl 412 VS, because it has a bit more volume and gets even louder, but for anything else the E 112 V ist my cab.

Reliability : 10
The cab overall is very solid, the metal front-grill fits perfectly and you can jump on the cab, take it as a seat or whatever - it takes it all. The workmanship is great. Until now the cab has never let me down and I don't think this will happen soon.

Customer Support : No Opinion
I've never dealt with them - there was no need. I own three Engl products and I never had a problem with them, this gear is made in Germany...

Overall Rating : 10
This cab is fantastic. For overdriven sounds it is the best sounding 1x12" cab I ever heard. Workmanship is great. As explained above, this cab can get so loud and still has a clear and present sound that it can be a replacement for many 4x12" cabs. The price is about 400 Euros in Europe which seems to be expensive, but if you could hear the cab with your own ears you would know that it is simply worth it. If the cab is stolen I'd do anything to get exactly the same one again.
