This amp was made in 2003. I play mostly cover from Jazz to Funk to Blues to Metal and it nearly fits all this styles. This is one of the most versatile amps I've ever used. It has 2 channels with boost function each, a very good and rich sounding Reverb, and a effects loop (Switchable Effects loop would be nicer). The Global EQ is just fine. It has a balanced line output, which I only use to do some quick recording (just memorizing ideas on my Computer). For playing live or serious recording I absolutely recommend to mike it up (Another reason for that is the very nice sounding Celestion V30 speaker). The amp also has a solo switch (only footswitchable) which I consider VERY useful.
I only wish the Crunch channel wouldnt sound so thin, there are no breakups or fat bluesy sounds you can dial in. So I need a stomp box.
I use the amp for practice, rehearsals, gigs and recording sessions, this means always and everywhere. 50 watts of tube power are enough, because when I play big venues I mike it up.
It gets a nine because of the Crunch sound

At the moment I play mostly my Washburm Nuno Bettencourt N2 model, which in my opinion sounds very cool. My other guitars are a Framus Diabolo Custom (the old model, no ovangkol neck), a Gibson Nighthawk Custom and sometimes a PRS Custom 22.
The sound is always huge (of course depending on the guitar pickups).
The heavy lead channel is abit noisy, but in live situations it isnt that bad, and when recording I use a noise gate.
I use it with the z5 footswitch, a Morley Bad Horsy and a Boss TU2. Thats all. Fits perfectly.
The clean channel stays clean all the time, and the distorted sounds are brutal good. The only thing, again, if you want sth bluesy inbetween you have to use a stompbox, or change lead channel gain after every song.

I'm seriously gigging for two years with it, never had a problem. I always carry it in my custom made road rack.
But I also have an Engl Tube Toner with me as a backup, you never know...
The amp works fine and has been a lot on the road and is often played 5 hours a day.
No complaints

Yes I have dealt with that company and they are very nice and helpful. Needed a new pot and they sent it right away for free.
I am working in an authorized service center.
Warranty is two years in Germany, as usual.

I have owned tons and tons of gear, but this one fits my needs. Marshall JCM 900 plus cab, too heavy, not versatile. Fender Deluxe Combo, rich clean but no gain. Boogie F-50, eat my dust, worst peace of equipment ever. Hughes Kettner Triamp Head and Cab, good & versatile buut way too heavy, Tech 21 Trademark Combo, good for studio.
I would buy another one

2005 Screamer 112 Combo was purchased for it's versatility and simplicity. It is replacing a mass of equipment that I'm tired of lugging around: Marshall JCM800 and 4 x12 cab, Fender Bandmaster and 2 x 12 cab. The four "channels" on the Screamer run the full gamut from ultra clean to saturated dirt. Many have complained about the Screamer's lack of a 2nd channel EQ, but that's one reason I purchased it. I'm from the KISS (Keep It Simple Stupid) school of engineering. With only 9 chicken head knobs on the silver background, one can actually see the levels in a live situation! Has plenty of power for club gigs, rehearsals, etc. Sounds best through a 4 x 12.

I use both single and double coil pickup guitars (Fender/Gibson). I'm in a working cover band that plays music from the 60's-current. I'll run the Screamer through a Marshall 1960A for live gigs because it sounds better through a 4 x 12.
Clean: I was really amazed at the clean tones a "high gain" amp can generate. Kind of a scooped tone like a blackface Fender, but punchier. I'll give it a 9 and I'm pretty picky. Keep the gain below 12 o'clock and it will stay clean.
Crunch: With the gain set below 12 o'clock, it gets a nice classic rock tone. This channel really cuts through the mix live. The "boost" from clean to crunch could be just a little bit more. I like this channel with single coil pickups. I use it for that "just breaking up" tone. A little buzzy with double coils. I'll give it a 7.
Soft Lead: A thicker, more saturated tone. Gotta be careful not to set the gain too high. I generally set the gain below 12 o'clock. This amp has a lot of gain. Harder to dial in a consistent tone with this channel for some reason. Tends to sound "farty" on the low end. I'll give it a 7+.
High Lead: One of the best lead guitar tones I've heard. A nice, fat, saturated tube overdrive tone that cuts through the mix at low volume like my Marshall JCM800 cannot. Not buzzy or solid state sounding. Great harmonic overtones Very fat low end. Most guitar players are thoroughly impressed. You will never need another "boost" or "distortion" pedal again. Plenty-o-gain here. I'll give it a 9+.

Been playing 30+ years. I've owned and tried them all including the boutique amps. I wanted a simple, versatile combo that I could use for practice, band rehearsal, and live gigging. I played combos by Rivera, Bogner, Marshall, Fender, Dr. Z, Matchless, Mesa, Bad Cat, etc. I liked the Screamer's versatile tone, simple layout, 4-channels, reliability, VLS (lead boost), L-5 footpedal, multi-speaker outputs, and price. Great value when compared to the amps I previously mentioned.

This is one of the first of the Screamer 50 series. It has the brown grill, which I personally find more "classy" looking. Celestion GH12-80.
Great channel setup: clean, lead, overdrive lead. VLS for two master volume settings. Very balanced sounding Reverb. Only small disadvantage is the shared tone controls, although I have not found this limiting in getting great clean and overdrive sounds.
Effect loop. My model does not have the line out option - which I would never use anyway: if you need to feed it into a PA, mike it to take advantage of its great sound.
Very portable, which is great as I due lots of gigs. Easily fits in the trunk of my car.
Preamp tubes are 4 x 12AX7, power tubes 2 x 6L6. Rated at 50 watts, it is very loud.

I play in several bands and do gigs and sessions. This amp gives me all the sounds I need: from sparkling clean to juicy crunch to howling lead sounds. The character of this Amp makes it sound very defined in any band situation.
From Jazz cleans to Heavy rock, this baby does it all for me.
I use several guitars - PRS Custom, Fender Strat, Ernie Ball Silhoutte, Gibson Les Paul, Gibson ES335, depending on the style required. My favourite is my pre-factory PRS Custom 24, which makes this the most versatile setup I ever used.
The amp is incredibly quiet, no hums or hisses. It is also very LOUD. Upto now I have never played it with the master volume over 7, most of the times it is set at 4-5. The good thing is that you do not need to in order to get great sounds.

I have had this amp for about 10 months now and it never let me down. It is build as a tank - German quality - and I take well care of my equipment.
The power tubes were replace when I bought it and I have not found any sound degradation yet. Will probably last for at least 1-2 years.
I don't lug a backup amp around. On the other hand, I know enough people that will help me out if I ran into a problem (had it once, when my Mesa DC3 was stolen).

I have been playing for over 25 years now. If this amp would be stolen, I would certainly get another one.
Over the years I played and owned a number of amps, both good and bad. Full Marshall stacks , several Fenders (Twin Reverb is still my favourite for clean, but too big/heavy and no usable lead sound), Mesa Boogie (liked the DC3, but didn't like the Nomad), Koch Multitone (Nice, but just not "it"), H&K Duotone (broke down several times, had to get rid of it).
There are many good sounding combos around these days. For me the Engl Screamer is one of the best in its class.

At the moment im running an Ibanez Artcore ( Semi Hollow, Humbuckers ) through a Boss TU-2. The Clean Channel is surprisingly good, with a very warm tube tone. The Crunch and Lead channels are where this amp really shines. A tight bottom end, Quite adequate Mids and Clear Shimmering highs really give this amp its unique ENGL tone. Its produces very little unwanted noise even at maximum volumes.

I bought that amp in 2004 at Musik Schmidt in Frankfurt Germany.
All the faetures where mentioned before - so let me just repeat, that this amp definitly got everything it takes.
The Screamer 50 Combo should always be bought together with the Z5 pedal.
The pedal does not only offer the easy switch between clean, crunch, light and heavy distortion and reverb, but it also offers two differnt levels of master volume for each of these sound settings - the pedal is absolutly worth the money (150 Euro).

The sound of this amp is incredible - great clean sounds, different levels of distorted sounds. It sounds clear and naturally warm too, it's a great amp that really bites distorted. The amp does not cover mistakes, so it's not that easy to play and sound good.
The guitars I use with that amp are Patrick Eggle Berlin Pro, Gibson Les Paul Classic and Gibson Les Paul 1954 Oxblood J.B.
All these guitars sound great with the Sreamer 50 Combo, but the Patrick Eggle is specially wonderful at the clean sounds on this amp - really good.

At present i use a PRS Santana SEII, which still has the factory pickups. These pickups had previously sounded pretty muddy and lifeless but the bright setting on this engl really helped. My musical styles vary from hard rock/ metal to blues and chillout stuff - the engl suits all of these really well and the only time something will actually not sound good is when you play a bum note or something. My only qualm with the sound would be that when cranked up about half way, the dirty lead channel has a bit too much bite and not enough beef, but this could be due to my guitar or possibly my lack of an EQ pedal (maybe i could look into changing the speaker?). That said, its hardly something to moan about and i much prefer it to a muddy toneless marshall sound, and its still fairly brutal.
The isn't noisy at all, except for the sweet feedback when you crank it up, which i obviously don't want to change... the clean channel is still clean when loud, and the boosted clean channel sounds really nice - not quite overdriven as such, but when the strings are played with a bit of muscle you get a juicy crunchy type sound.

Haven't dealt with them yet, but i think it came with a 2 year warranty so thats pretty good. Also, all of the company information was nicely presented on the shiny leaflets included in the amp. I was also informed by the shop that engl are really good with their customers so i'll give it another 9.

I've been playing since i was 7 (im now 18), and this is the first 'real' amp ive ever owned - up until now i've just been borrowing other people's, or using practice amps/ multi effects through stereos.
I went into the shop and asked the guy to show me some amps that had a sweet clean sound but also a meaty, brutal dirty sound, and at first he directed me to the engl screamer head, but i was really after a combo so i instantly plugged in to the screamer combo and pretty much knew this was the amp for me. I was only really wanting to spend about 500 max, but i couldn't let this go so i cracked into the money i'd been saving up for a car.
If this amp was stolen, i would almost definately replace it or get the screamer head and a fat cab. I love it's versatility, tone, feel, and the way it feels like it was made specially for me. I don't hate anything about it except it ridiculous weight, but when i have a car that wont be a problem.
In the shop, i tried almost every marshall combo they had (dfx series, jcm 800, 900, and 2000, and some others i cant remember). i also tried out some crappy line 6 combos which i thought were worthy of being dropped from a great height. i tried a couple of fender amps, and they weren't really best for all my styles. The only other amp in the same kind of league as this amp is the cheaper Laney LC50, which is really nice, but has a colder tone, no clean boost, and the dirty channel is not really built for metal/ hard rock.
I guess i wish it came with the Z5 footswitch but i guess thats asking a bit much, just means i have to use a marshall stereo footswitch until i can save up but thats alright for now.
All in all, this is f***ing sweet and i would recommend the amp and/or the engl name to anyone.

I guess you already know the features, so...the only thing I can say is that this beast suits the music I play perfectly. I play everything from pop music to heavy metal and this amp is versatile enough to do the job. The bad thing is that the footswitch is sold apart and it costs a lot, so...

I play a Strat plus. The clean channel is very good for an high gain amp: with the right setting you can get a fenderish tone easily, and reverb is superlative. The crunch channel is good but not the best crunch channel I've heard..however with the right stomp (I use a Fulltone Fulldrive II) the result is similar to a typical Marshall crunch. The soft lead is perfect for hard rock and the heavy lead is the channel for metal. The distortion is very brutal but different from the iper-compressed Mesa distortion, it's more "open", not too much compressed...if you want the nu-metal sound this amp is not good for you. However, at this price i doubt you can get more...

The Amp was built in 2003. German Tube Amp :) Its fits on every style i play, mostly Death Metal, Black Metal, Rock, Industrial. 4 channels: clean, crunch, soft lead, heavy lead, heavy lead via gain lo/hi.
It doesnt have a Headphone jack but a FX-Loop. I mostly use the amp at home but only on 0,7 or something. Its BRUTALLY LOUD!

A Strat Plus Deluxe and a Gretsch Tennessee Rose. All the gain I need and loads of clean headroom. This amp is loud enough for any stage. I could only improve matters by getting an extension 4x12 to give more depth, etc. But that's not a criticism of the amp, only getting around the limitations imposed by a single 12" speaker in an open-backed cabnited.

I've been playing for over 30 years and have used amps from Fender, Vox, Marshall, Peavey, Laney, you name it....
I've also tested Boogies, plus many other exotic offerings, and none give me quite the same thrill as this map does. It may be a question of taste at the end of the day but this is certainly my flavour.
I must admit the store salesperson is entirely responsible for me choosing this amp. I previously would not have entertained an Engl..simple because it didn't figure in my list of acceptable 'names', you know what I'm talking about. However, all that has changed since the guy pushed me in the Engl direction. I am eternally grateful to him.

Made in 2002. Fits anything from jazz to hard rock.
4 channels. Only 1 eq, 2 volumeknobs, 1 mastervolume, Reverb, lead presence. No headphone input, a speaker simulated output, effect loop with level adjustment.
If you buy the Engl Z-5 pedal, you'll will have an VLS-function. You can switch between to mastervolumelevels. Great feature. (the pedal is a bit expensive, but is worth all the money)
My neighbors miss the headphone socket, and it's something irritation with only 1 eq, but it's sounds great! - no matter one. Very simple, it's hard to do something wrong.

I use a Ibanez AM100 with Gibson '57 pickups. I play mostly jazz and blues/rock - great sounds! My guitar is a semihollow, so no metalsounds. Have tried it with other more hardrockaxes - great sound too.
The clean: Very clean - something like a Fender Hotrod. But more like hmmm ENGL! If you turn up the clean and the master down, it can crank up nicely.
The crunch: The sound of rock! - great channel. Great for leadblues, and some fusion.
Soft lead: Great lead, fits rock very well. Not muddy at all.
Heavy Lead: Great sustain, very creamy sounding. Can be used for a lot of lead (and I will never use it for anything else) - but metal freaks can proberly use for rythm.
All in all reproduces what you play mercilessly, you can hear all your mistakes - and that's was a problem in the beginning, but has helped me to play better. So it's great...can get the best out of you. GREAT SOUNDS!

I don't even have a distortionpedal, cause this amps really rocks!
If it was stolen, I would cry - and buy another amp. Maybe this one, or maybe a cheaper one. Sometimes I actually feel, I'm not good enough for the amp - but I'm also a modest boy..:-)
