Oh Yea! The best cab I have ever heard! I found it NOS at a store and was able to get a deal. I bought it without hearing it, which I have never done before. It was sitting in the back , a little dusty and lonely! I took it home and cranked it up . WOW! I could not believe my ears! I a/b it with my other cabs ( Marshall 1960a, and a Sovtek with eminence speakers. It killed both of them. The input jack plate allows mono or stereo, heavy duty castors, heavy duty grill cover. At 1st glance it looked like a 4x10 cab . The sides , top and bottem are thicker and speakers are a little closer together in the cab. Great bottem end ! I cannot stress this enough!

Sound Quality : 10
I have about every kind of guitar made! It sounds better with the humbuckers the best. I am still amazed at how each guitar I try sounds better through this cab. It has that incredible low end punch that I just love! This cab is it!

Reliability : 8
If you wanted a downside here it is! This thing is heavy I mean it weighs like 100 lbs. It will last a lifetime. Solid Birch construction, all metal hardware, castors. The inside is also top notch with solid construction.

Customer Support : No Opinion
I haven't had to deal with yet? Their website has ample info.

Overall Rating : 10

i bought my first cab with my Engl Powerball *also a review on that masterpiece available* a couple months ago. i just purchased another one. They are both 2004-Celestion V-30 equipped Straight cabs. 240watt handling. mono/stereo. Pretty much the same features as any other boutique cab out. but....theres so much more.

Sound Quality : 10
I have played the Engl Powerball on a Hughes and Kettner 4x12 and a Marshall MF280 4x12 cab. All equipped with Celestions. The Engl cab sounded much fuller when at high volumes. The bottom end was massive! *the MF280 is supposedly the elite low end cab*....My Mids were balanced so beautifully. The clarity of my notes were something i could only take pride in. Granted the Engl Powerball is a monster of an amp...But if i were playing through two Behringer 4x12's i dont think i would have the sound im getting. Major props on this cab.

Reliability : 10
This thing is massive. just like the powerball. it weighs about as much as it costs and sounds. I am very careful because the cab *as well as the head* is wrapped with a leather type covering. Which i happen to like. So it looks groovy!

Customer Support : No Opinion
*warranty is 6 years* hah! This thing is beastly

Overall Rating : 10
You might ask how is it possible to give this cab all 10's?? i mean it isnt necessary to give it anything less because i cant really ask for anything more in a cab. my sound is beautiful because of it. so dont hate k? i now have 2 of them. The other guitarist in my band just bought the same cab for his XXX head. They sound wonderful together. I strongly advise buying one, regardless of your head.

First of all dont pay any attention to my fucked up english but as long as you can understand what im trying to say its ok! And what can i say? I compared this Cab to many others (many) and I liked this one the most.. why? first its built like a fucking tank.. and the materials are HIGH quality.. but the sound is even better!! I Play very down tuned metal (we tune down to A) and no were not Nu-metal crap.. my old cab (marshall b) couldnt handle the low tunings and my sound was like: #$^$&(&* (too much noise) now my sound is SUPERTIGHT!! Yess this cab is very mid-rangy but thats what i like about it! the mids is where the tone is and now i cut through the mix like whaaaa!! I can really reconmand this cab to all you metalplayers out there! I give it a 9 cause its my lucky number. www.gilo.nl

Reliability : 9
Like I said: built like a tank.. I trust in engl

Customer Support : 9
Never had to deal with them but I just know they are very cool people always willing to help! (I know some people that use engl gear and they say they will always help you)

Overall Rating : 9
The best sounding cab I ever heard! Im only 24 but trust me.. I tried them all!! for my kinda sound and style this is the cab i was looking for! I use an ESP SC signature model and an ESP barritone and I use the new peavey 5150 mkII amp loaded with ruby tubes.. I also use a rocktron prophesy (only for fx), a rocktron hush and a bbe sonic maximizer to tighten up my sound. great tight metal sound.

412 celestion v30's sterio cab,240 watts,nice metal grill,heavy as shit.

Sound Quality : No Opinion
Well here is the problem,it seems I didnt do my homework.Let me first say the cab is not the problem, the cab could not be better. Its the v 30's that I dont like.they have way to much honky midrange at high gain settings.I will also say that for clean they cant be beat. But lets face it,most of us want a good all arounder and the vintage 30 is not it for me.

2001 made, I was giging out of town and my Mesa 4x12 was stolen! I went to a local store to rent a cabinet I was ready to rent a Marshall cab when the sales guy directed me toward this Engl vintage 4x12. I was totally unfamiliar with Engl at that time. Well the result is that not only I end up buying the damn thing but months later I sold my Mark IV head and got me a brand new Savage 120 head!
The cabin is outstanding, built with massive wood, really heavy.

Sound Quality : 10
I play from blues to progressive rock. The tonal response is, imo, the best I have heard. This baby is great at clean and incredible at high-gain. This thing is POWERFULL I mean really powerfull! 200 watts mono and 2x100 stereo.

Reliability : 10
Never had a problemo!

Customer Support : No Opinion
Never dealt with them

Overall Rating : 10
As I said my previous cab was a Mesa which is a very good cab but the Engl with the vintage 30 is no match! If you compare them side by side, as I did before finally purchase the Engl, you will notice the the Engl has a richer sound and is some how more resonant for a quite decent price.

This is an older version of the typical Vintage 30 - 4x12" cab sold today; equipped with 4 x Vintage 30 Speakers, each with 50 watts, so the power rating is 200 watts mono / 2 x 100 watts stereo. Weight is around 100 pounds - really heavy. Solid wood, no crap.

Sound Quality : 10
Might be too strong in the mids for some people, but gives you an excellent an bright sound through all types of playing. No noisy highs, very tight an present bottom. I played with a Marshall JCM 800 4x12 and 1960 lead 4x12 before; in comparison to the Engl, Marshall sounds like xxxx, especially while using high-gain sounds. The Engl-cab gives a powerful and equal sound in all volume positions. I tested and heard several other cabinets while searching an effective box for high quality high-gain sounds, and the only cab reaching the same quality was a Rectifier-cab, what else. But instead of the Rect-cab, the Engl has a clearer sound in the deeper frequencies (and it is not so expensive!). 10 points for Metal-Sounds.

Reliability : 9
Very solid, all accessoires are made of steel, fixed with screws. Massive front grille. The imitated leather is a bit weak against hard scratches, but it still is more resistant than than a 1960.

Customer Support : No Opinion
Never had a problem with the cab, so I can't report anything.

Overall Rating : 10
I've been playing Death- and Trashmetal for the last 8 years, and this is the best-sounding cab I heard during that time. The Mesa-Cabs are of the same quality, of course, but you can get an Engl-Cab for $ US 400-500 in used condition, always with a metal-made front grille. Shouldn't be a hard decision...

Pice: current price for a new device in Germany in January 2002. I own one of these monsters since 2 years now. Each time I switch on the amp I am looking forward to hearing the amazing Killer-Sound! I'm presently involved in 2 projects, my Band www.exchased.de and a cover rock/top 40 Story (it's hard to earn money with music in Germany, your only chance is to be very famous or to cover songs....). In both projects I use completely different settings, the cover thing is more like "dont-wake-up-the-birds-one-mile-away", and with my band I use sounds that are simply heavy. We play Progressive Rock, Metal, Goth. From Type-O-Negative style to Dream Theater stuff etc. This cabinet can master it all. 4, 8 or 16 ohms are switchable, so are stereo or mono settings. I mounted some wheels on the box for transport reasons, because it came without. This should be optional from factory, because for this heavy machine you don't need a case at all.

Sound Quality : No Opinion
Right now I'm using a JS 1000 Joe Satriani Signature by Ibanez wich has a very versatile tone setting. Whatever pickup-setting I use, this cabinet spits out the sounds I feed the amp with. That's what I want from a cabinet. I want it to sound as true as possible. That means it should reproduce the whole chain from player to amp and convert it to hearable sounds without falsifying the sound of your pickup or whatever. Without rattle or buzz. This cabinet stucks to it, no matter at wich volume. And it can get so loud, if you wish!!! You could use this cabinet to make a house crumble! Forget Marshall, this one provides the missing push feel.

Reliability : 10
This monster is built like a it could stand a nukelar attack. I guess that I will die before this cabinet breaks. If you open it, you find no construction errors.... throw it down your house, it will still do its job! The armour around the speakers makes it close to unvulnerable...

Customer Support : 8
Well, the guys at ENGL seem to just have closed their website. ENGL is a very small brand, and even here in good ole Germany it is hard to find out details about this company. Once I wrote them an e-mail regarding a manual for my amp and they responded just the next day. Well, since I have no trouble with my amp or cabinet, I haven't got in contact with them. Only once I needed a new footswitch for my amo and it took around 1 week. From a friend I heard that they took good care of his problems, when he had some bad tubes, but regarding the just-closed-down website I give 'em only an 8.

Overall Rating : 10
This is the cabinet that you should get if you're tirde of searching. To anybody who is interested and looks for a new one: just check it out!!!

This thing is heavy--like 105lbs, no lie. it has 4 celestion vintage 30's and kill!! This cab is built the same as a boogie, but for way less

Sound Quality : 10
The sound--absolutely killer. sounds very similar to a boogie because they are made with the same wood, speakers, ect. I play an '82 marshall jcm 800 with my gibson les paul custom though a boss super overdrive (just like zakk) and the sound is amazing. the sound rolls and rolls. good low end and good high end. nothing ever rattles and the speakers handle everything i throw at them. screw marshall cabinets, screw boogie cabinets--you can buy a used ENGL that is better than marshall or booge for WAY less. i was skeptical with i bought it over a marshall, but i'm glad now. this thing rocks

Reliability : 10
i've gigged with it and no problems at all. why would you need a back-up?? i don't know what you would have to do to destroy this cabinet!!

Customer Support : 10
never really dealt with them except by email and the guy that wrote me back was super cool

Overall Rating : 10
i tried out marshall cabs and boogie cabs, carvin and crate cabs, and honestly, this is the best sounding cab i've ever played on and i will stick to that until i find one that will kill this one. i would compare it to a boogie cabinet. it's basically built the same, just way cheaper. if something ever happened to it, i would search for another one--no lie.

Made in Germany. This is an older version than the newer ones because it has a few different cosmetics. Loaded with Celestion Vintage 30's. Has a stereo/mono switch. The only problem was it had a minor scratch on th back. It seems really sturdy and the wood, which is 13-ply birch is good.

Sound Quality : 10
This thing kills, that simple. This is one of the better sounding cabs out there. This cab was definitely worth the money. I've heard Marshall vintage cabs, which do sound good, but this thing is brighter and screams at you. It makes your sound jump out at you.

Reliability : 10
bought it used. No problems yet and none anticipated with this beast

made somewhwere in germany. I have no clue, If I do have a problem I'll call

Overall Rating : 10
Overall this was well worth my $475. Pick one up if you can find one. Very Loud but clear. This thing resonates!!! I never paid attention into different soundin cabs into now. Before I thought they all sounded the same.
