2007 engl xxl pro 240 w. rms mono or 2x120 w rms stereo , 14 ply of syberian birch. Celestion vintage 30. This cab is a monster...

Sound Quality : 10
It has a lot of bass, very tight. Midrange are very well balance and the treble is sparkling. LOUD like hell. Before buying it i tryed an hiwatt custom (too deep,Not enough bass, the high are ok)a koch (LOL personaly its the worst cab i ever played and they sell them for like 1400$...)and a Engl with vintage 30 but the cab is smaller Its sound really good but bass responce are boosted by 35-50 % on the xxl, the mid is more prononced and the treble is shining a bit more.

Reliability : No Opinion
never had any gig with it But i own a powerball for half a year now and never had problem with it.Before having problem with a cab like that your house will be destroy by an earth quake.

I play Jackson USA select King V's loaded with emg 81/85 going into an ISP decimator and then into an Engl version 2 powerball. The noisegate is good enough on the powerball, but I use the decimator because I like it better. I would have to say that this is the best cab I have played the Powerball thru so far and I am very pleased with it. It has a lot of presence and the lows, mids, and highs are well balanced for a vintage 30 cab. It sounds nothing like a Mesa recto cab. I would compare it to a VHT fatbottom but fuller sounding and not so much concentrated on the highs. The feedback is no where near as bad as many other cabs I have played with the Powerball.

Reliability : 10
I haven't had it long but it was shipped from Florida, survived Fed Ex, and being fully cranked.

I haven't dealt with Engl yet (knock on wood). I bought the cab from Derek B at rock solid amps www.rocksolidamps.com and he knows his stuff and can get you the tone you are looking for. He answers all his emails and is easily able to get ahold of. Keep up the great work Derek.

I have been playing guitar for a long time, atleast 15 years. I have tryed just about every speaker cab out there and just about every amp. I think Engl amps are my cup of tea. The xxl cab is probably one of the best cabs I have played thru that has vintage 30's in it. It doesn't "honk" like a mesa cab will and handles the low end a lot better. It doesn't sound too presencey like a vht fatbottom, but more fuller sounding. I think the xxl cab has the RIGHT amount of everything needed to make a powerball or SE sound stellar. I'm not worried about it getting stolen since this cab is enormous and weighs a ton and a half. The cool thing about this cab is that its a straight cab, but sounds like a slant cab. The speakers project very nicely the way they have them set up.
