know idea when this was made but everydody says something different anyway. Is it versatile? It all depends on what you play but its great to mess around on. I like my amps simple, but when it calls for it i just plug in my effects processer and usually a good set of digital effects makes small solid states sound like mud but it goes well together. I play this amp in my shed when i cant play in the house with my real equipment which is about everyday and its perfect for that and the reverb is amazing for the amp, very surprised.

Sound Quality : 8
well since i keep this amp in my shed theres always a guitar with it, its just one of those cheap epiphone beginner models which i hate but im not bringing good equipment out there so its fine, i play good music, no real hardcore metal, no christian rock or alternative crybaby stuff. I Play blues, rock and roll, little jazz and its great for all that, better if you have some effects but still great. Its sounds great clean but not loud, Very loud with some gain but dont push this guy cuz he pushes back hard and loud.

Reliability : 10
Like i said i play this in my shed and my shed is not climate controlled, not leak proof and not clean. It stays out there summer through winter and i live in jersey so we have hot summers and cold winters and with all that plus me being lazy, rough, and playing it almost everyday this thing holds up like a GOD and its been in my shed for about 3 years and its still going strong. Also i bought it used and it was packaged very bad the day i got it

Customer Support : No Opinion
never had to repair it, but i only go through the companies if its still under warranty otherwise i have a "guy" so i couldnt tell you about support

Overall Rating : 10
ive had this amp for 3 years although ive only really taking an interest in playing within the last year.... Even though last year's christmas present blows my shed setup away i would still be upset if this thing got stolen but i would find another....IF YOU PAY MORE THAN 55 DOLLARS FOR THIS YOU HAVE BEEN RIPPED OFF, YOU CAN GET THESE FOR NOTHING.

This is an earlier tweed version, perhaps pre-2000. Can sound like anything from Les Paul & Mary Ford (clean!)to Jeff Beck through a Fuzz Face (filthy!).
Solid state with one channel. Headphone jack for hotel warmups, etc. I got it to use for a bench test amp, testing guitars just off the luther's bench. Perfect for that purpose.
I'd have to either be nuts, desparate, or just plain out of it to ever try and use this thing at a real gig, though there are some fantastic PA systems out there that can make a mouse sound like a lion. In that situation, this is definitely a mouse.

Sound Quality : 9
My '57 Melody Maker with Gretsch Dyna-Sonics give this amp just the right bite. Most humbuckers (under 1000K ohm dc resistance) sound very smooth, while the hotter humbuckers still can give that wet-tongue-in-your-ear sound. I like it. Wide open it sounds ten times louder than it really is and is very reminiscent of the old Fuzz Face.

Reliability : 8
This amp was shipped to me halfway across the country, in an unpadded box with tissue paper for packing material. By the time it got to me it had flipped upside down in that unpadded box and the leads had come off the speaker. Thanks USPS. Anyway, I put it back together and it worked perfectly. I guess that's pretty reliable.

Customer Support : 10
I've always had good communication from Gibson. I assume Epiphone isn't much different.

Overall Rating : 9
I've been playing for decades. Owned or worked through all kinds of equipment; the good, the bad, and the ugly. If this amp were lost, strayed, or stolen? I'd find another one. Great little amp for the bux and for the purpose that I got it for.

This is the older yellow tweed model (pre-1997 according to Gibson). Cool looking! Simple enough, 15w, closed back, 8in speaker, 1 channel, Volume, Gain, bass/middle/treble, reverb (with spring) and headphone jack. Typical practice amp, and has lots of output for its size. Almost loud enough for a small gig!

Sound Quality : 7
Very good clean and distorted sound below 6 but when cranking Gain and Volume over 7 things do not sound so good... Also, lots of hum coming from the 60Hz electrical system.

Reliability : No Opinion
Just got it, but it's Epiphone, despite being a Chinese (or Korean?) manufacture. Simple enough, should last long. Despite its age it is *MINT* and looks like has not been used much.

Customer Support : 9
Gibson has promptly answered my queries about the amp age and specs.

Overall Rating : 8
I have been playing acoustic and electric guitar on and off for over 30 years, I am just getting back to do more electric. I use it with a Yamaha SE203 strat-copy with stock pickups. Good enough for me to practice in the basement or anywhere else with the headphones.

Amp was probably made between 1998-2000. Amp is not particularly clean but distortion range is pretty good tube emulation. EQ is +/- 15db cut/boost for each section, a pleasant difference. Headphone Jack is good for private listening. Would work well for recording and limited stage use if miked properly.

Sound Quality : 9
I've played this guitar w/Hamer Special, Les Paul Jr, Les Paul Special (p-90), Epi Dot, Hamer Daytona Strat, Les Paul Custom, 12-string Strat clone. Gets a very impressive Clapton "woman tone" and Santana-esque sustain. Even feeds back musically. Music I play is mostly blues rock. Relatively little hum, clean sounds aren't great, but overdrive range is surprisingly wide and usable. very tube-like, but not good for shredders or metal heads. Great for slide playing.

Reliability : 8
Bought the amp used, seems very well made, I'm pretty careful w/my gear, so I haven't abused it to the point where servicing would be required.

Customer Support : No Opinion

Been playing 30 years, currently playing Christian rock in NYC. Have left a number of other reviews in the past. I was extremely surprised at how good this little amp sounded; it exceeded my expectations. For the price (less than a good distortion pedal), it's great. I'd buy another again at the same price in a heartbeat.

It's a great amp... Bass, Middle, and Treble knobs let you play around with the sound. It has a headphone jack which is convenient. Other than that, it really has no fancy features, it's just a nice little practice amp.

Sound Quality : 9
The clean channel is not perfect, but the tiny thing has a hell of a lot of distortion. the sounds can be changed with a few knobs i.e. the ones i mentioned in the features section. there is also a reverb knob

Reliability : 10
I have never had a problem with this amp and it has never gone wierd on me. It doesn't have enough power for the stage, but if it did, i could deffinitley rely on it

Customer Support : No Opinion
I really never have had to deal with any of that because it is so dependable

Overall Rating : 9
If you are a starter, this is the amp for you. Its not all that fancy, but it is a good, straightforward, no nonsense amp. I use a crate GFX 212T usually, but this makes a good practice amp when i need something that doesn't break windows. If it were lost or stolen, i would probably buy another. It is the amp i started on and it has seen a lot of abuse in the 9 years that i have played, but it still works fine. If you are a starter or just need a small practice amp, buy this... its small, but it's still very powerful.

Headphone out is useful when using as a gain preamp

Sound Quality : 10
During a battle of the bands, this thing sat on the edge of the stage in the auditorium, powering the lead guitar. One oversight, It really isn't that quiet, and in the recording all you could hear was the little Ep8. Distortion is crunchy and it has strange flickering led lights inside when you turn it up.

Reliability : 10
The plastic 'Epiphone' thing came off, but I replaced it with a chrome 'plymouth' ornament that fell off of my car. It's dinky presswood, but is light, and took a while for me to destroy it.

Customer Support : No Opinion

Overall Rating : 10
It is no longer with me. It was sitting atop an ampeg cabinet when the whole thing fell down. The case broke somewhat, but I used it till I blew up a capacitor or something. A ballsy amp, not limited by its diminuitive size. get one cheap.

Sometimes a little bit lacking in power, but with the right space in a room so the feedback isnt piercing your ear drums the distortion sounds thick and raunchy on the neck pick-up of a strat. When Maxed-Out it is super rocky.

Sound Quality : 9
In a bedroom alone or with a couple of mates in a band that only uses practice amps to jam its great. Although it does lack in power a bit. I can drown out most other amps just with the feedback sometimes. All you have to do is equalize the gain/volume. (i start from 7 on the volume and 4 for the gain an go from there)

Reliability : 8
couldt really gig with this but my current band has a good laugh trying to sound right with our different amps. We jam without drums normally and its never broken its just dam moody!

Customer Support : 10
"MLA," dont no about this never dealt with epiphone them selves justa ahop so a 10 i think.

Overall Rating : 9
fantastic but hard to get amazing sounds cos you have to make small ajustments, great bedroom amp and works well as a chilling out with mates jam amp aswell. Solidly built no complaints

Made in Korea. Looks new but I bought it used. Very small (about 16" X 14" X 6" full enclosed tweed amp. Very pretty. 25 watt input so I guess about 10 to 12 watt output. Perfect for the bedroom. One input, gain, volume, bass, middle, treble, and reverb knobs plus headphone jack. I can't give it a 10 but who would be stupid enough to blow all his money on an amp that has all the goodies

Sound Quality : No Opinion
Nice mellow tube like sound. Not very loud (which is perfect for me). The distortion from the gain\volume is very nice. The reverb is more than ample. Looks like it has an 8 speaker in the fully enclosed tweed covered cabinet. Perfect for the basement or bedroom B.B.King or Duane Eddy but can give you some low volume Black Sabbath too. Operates very silently. For $40.00, what more can you ask. I will have to give this amp a 10. It's my smallest amp but the one I use the most for guitar or harmonica.

15 years experience. Quit for 25 years now I want to be middle aged rock star. I use it with my El-Degas hardbody with 2 humbuckers or my Series A with 2 single coils. Would certainly buy another if this one was stolen. This is the nicest sounding practice amp I have tried. I have to give it a 10.

I think made in 1992. 1 channel, gain, vol, bass, middle, treble, reverb and phone jack. The reverb and distortion are great. This is a practice amp with all the features you need. If you want more features, there are all kinds of pedals for sale. I have the golden tweed model. Very beautiful little amp.

Sound Quality : 10
I use a Series A solid body and an El Degas solid body for all kinds of music that you can hum, whistle or sing to. I prefer the blues. I use it a very low volume for playing along with my stereo etc. It does not hum or buzz. The amp does exactly what it is made for.....practice. The sound can be clean, distorted, or with a nice reverb. It's your choice.

Reliability : No Opinion
I just bought it. Mint condition. Looks solid enough to sit on.

I have been playing for many years with a 20 year pause in the middle. The amp is perfect for practice. Don't gripe if you want to jam with it. Get something more powerful and more expensive for that.

Korean made 15 watt Solid state amp through an 8 inch speaker. One channel 1Volume and 1gain contol as well as 3 band EQ and reverb. One instrument input and headphone out jack. Basic features standard in an amp in this price range. Could've used two seperate channels though. Closed back design and tweed covering.

Sound Quality : 6
Great Punk rock amp but is lacking in volume even taking power and size into cosideration this amp is a bit softer compared to simialar amps. Very weak on clean but it sounds decent. The distortions is plain and simple it has a nice fuzzines to it but it can get very distorted. The reverb is good nice and warm with an echoing sparkle. The closed back of this amp creates a very warm focused sound with more bass than usual for an amp this size but I think this is what hinders the volume. I guess epiphone thought it was a good trade off sacrificing the louder more open airy sound of an open back amp common in amps this size for one that is more focused. The closed back gives it a sound of being more like a closed speaker cabinet and head set rather than a small practice amp. My main dissapointment is the volume and the lack of two channels

Reliability : 10
It's a simple amp so there ain't much to be broken. It also feels sturdy and well constructed but lightweight and thats good since you'd want to move this amp with ease considering its a practice amp

Customer Support : 8
Epiphone is generally very good to there customers but they can be a bit poky in the speed of their service. Comes withe a 1 year warranty on electronics an speaker and a 5 year warranty on the cabinet.

Overall Rating : 6
Iv'e been playing for about three years now and own a bunch of stuff. I bought this amp mostly for it's price (great considering for what some people spent) and my familiarity with Epiphone. I needed an amp that would'nt break my windows at home because all I had was a 100 watt all tube Marshall 4-12 halfstack which aint something you wanna play with in an appartment building. I bought it to play around with ideas at home and it suits that purpose just fine. I also bought it as something that could be used a replacement for the Marshall which is more that what most people need and is an overated, overweight, big, money guzzler at rehearsels. The Epiphone just isn't loud enough most of the time it barely manages to cut through at rehearsels but overall it makes a great begginers amp or messing around amp for home. It could've really used two channels though.

This amp is pretty basic. It has a single input, with one channel. It has one volume and gain knob each. Then there's bass, mid, and treble (and as a added bonus...REVERB!). A good feature is the headphone jack. That is perfect for some guitarists, because many people hate to be forced to listen to aspiring guitarists practice. It's 15 watts and an 8 inch speaker. Pitiful, huh? I give it an 8 because, basically, when you start out and your just learning how to play "Ode To Joy", who really needs 100 watts and a grunge pedal?

Sound Quality : 3
With this hunk o' junk you're pretty much getting this: one channel which if you want loud you must put up the gain! I really hate that because sometimes I like to get mellow and play clean, but I can't because to get a higher volume you put vol. on 10 and basically use the gain knob. Anyway, the amp sucks, but when I was looking for a first amp I didn't know the difference between solid state or tube!

Reliability : No Opinion
I've never played a "gig", but I'm guessing definely not!!! duh- this box with a speaker isn't even heard over drums...you cant even hear it!

Customer Support : No Opinion
never dealt with them

Overall Rating : 8
this is a piece of crap, BUT, it is an excellent amp for those who just like to sit in their bedroom and play along with CDs or something. Don't bother trying to use this for a band, though.
I give it a 8 for beginners I give it a 0 for people who actually care about their sound
