While I suppose I haven't used too many different little practice amps, I must say I find this one fairly enjoyable. The first amp I ever had was a fender frontman 15r and this kicks its ass. The clean channel is where it shines. Crank a guitar to 10, and the volume about 3/4 and the gain 1/4 and it's very warm. If you switched the speaker I think it would sound even better. However i don't know that it's really worth it... I'm considering wiring in an extension speaker output but I can't deside if it's worth the effect or not. Anyway - what really sets this aside from other amps in the same ball park is that the gain actually effects the clean channel! I've never seen this in another practice amp - not that it means others don't feature this... however this is also a limitation if you intend to use the built in overdrive. There are no seperate controls for the OD... Which makes it really limited if you're using the two channels sperately. However, given the OD sounds like crap, stick to the decent sounding clean and get a pedal! This thing is really only good for practicing anyhow... you may get away using it in a recording situation as well if you're on an extreme budget.

First, I definitly wouldn't gig with this amp... it's just too small and hasn't got the output - but it's a practice amp anyhow. I just got this amp and it's been well used by the looks of things. I took it apart because the speaker was rattling. It was just loose in the cabinet so now it's fine. When taking it apart I looked it over and the electronics are just pressed on a circuit board which is pretty standard/crappy. But I would say that it's quite acceptable considered its intended use.

I am a drummer at heart but have always dabbled at guitar. I'm not much of a guitar player but as a sound engineer I'm obsessed with guitar tone... As such I mess around with anything and everything I can get my hands on and often make some of my own modifications. I got this little amp for free and I don't know how long I'll keep it but overall I must say I am quite surprised with the sound quality. If you wnat something small and not too loud to mess around with in your bedroom or whatever, this is a good pick if you can get one for cheap!

1998 Small transistor amp with 8" speaker. Single input, footswitch for overdrive, pseudo vintage look with yellow vinyl and brown grill. Output is 20 watts, roughly 14" by 12" by 6". Weighs about 15 lbs. Three tone controls, volume, gain, and overdrive switch. This is an inexpensive amp, so don't expect deluxe features. Very fair for the price, though.

The big surprise of this amp is how well it works with a jazz box. You'd be surprised. Although it lacks a little bass due to the small speaker, the amp voicing is a natural for a hollow body guitar playing smokey jazz in some dive at 1 AM. The distortion works well for this purpose, and it can also do a serviceable blues. It starts to sound a little out of its range for rock.
No reverb or tremelo, and the tone controls are very biased towards the jazz/blues sounds described above. Still, given its practice amp price, I have to say it deserves a salute.

The amp came with an intermittent pilot lite on the power switch. A buddy of mine replaced it for me (so much for the 5 year warranty). It has been fine since then, but it loses a few points for not being perfect from the start.

I have been playing forever. This is a totally awesome jazz amp for 99 bucks. I wish it had a reverb and a wider range of tone controls, but- COME ON- it cost 99 bucks brand new! I would use this clubbing with a small trio, but it is gonna run out of juice if everybody starts to play loud or it's a big room. If it was lost or stolen, I would probably check out it's big brother with 50 watts and reverb.
You jazzers, before you shell out big bucks for a Polytone or other amp, check this little honker out!

This amp has 2 channels. One is overdriven and two is clean. The overdrive is footswitchable but you have to but the foot switch seperate. It would be nice to have more than one knob to control the overdriven tone but it works fine. It also has a three band equilizer and a headphone input. Reverb would also be nice.

I use it with a Takamine EG334 BC with a preamp and a three band equilizer. Its sounds very nice. The clean channel is a little distorted at high volume when using a wah pedal. It is vert versitle though.
