I bought this 2 channel amp on a closeout as the price was right and for the retro appearance. I believe this one was manufactured in 2006, and it did turn out to be a decent value. Clean channel is great, with a lot of power. I don't use the distort as it really is poor. The reverb isn't bad, but using the effects is something of a challenge. I've been able to get a lot out of them with a Country Gentleman and a Gretsch Electromatic, and to a good degree with a Ric 330, and a 335. But as for a strat or LP, forget it...except for the low end of the chorus setting they are essentially useless.

Sound Quality : 8
As indicated, the clean channel is great, and the effects can be pretty good with the right guitar. The distort is lame. But for me and my style of playing, the clean channel makes up for the limitations with the distort, so the amp is more than satisfactory. Power on this one is really good and when used right it is not at all out of place in even a larger gig setting.

Reliability : 9
Been using this one for a year and a half. No complaints. Within it's limitations, it can be used without a backup, but those limitations have to be respected and considered before taking this amp to a gig.

Customer Support : No Opinion
Having no problems, I haven't had the experience. With Gibson standing behind it with the standard warranty I would not expect any issues.

Overall Rating : 7
Been playing a lot of years...decades, in fact. Despite the amp's noted limitations, it can be a great value for the money, provided you aren't looking for great or even decent distortion, or expect too much out of the voice effects. Appearance is certainly a plus for it. While I would not search all over for another if lost or stolen, I would not hesitate to get one of these again. But I believe that Gibson discontinued these.another.

I first bought a Firefly 30 watt Epi. Liked it so much I wanted more power for playing at church, so I got the Triggerman. At first I thought it was just OK. But after working with it, I fell in love. I don't know if it opened up or what. But now it sounds fantastic. I couldn't be happier. To me it sounds close to a tube amp. Close enough for me. I would even say just like one. It even acts like a tube amp. The more I turn it up the better it sound. I absolutely love this amps tone. I use the clean channel 95% of the time and run a Boss Blues Driver in front of it with A Marshall ED-1 compressor for leads. That is all I need for incredable tone. The built in overdrive isn't bad. I have used it for a quik bump up when playing, and it sounds good with the Boss running the same time. But I think the Boss sounds better on its own so I mostly use that. I have the compressors level set higher to act like aboost so when I do lead all I got to do is hit it and It is loader. I love this amp. It is a keeper. If stolen, you bet I would get another. I would love to try the stack Epi makes. But since I have a really bad back, I will stick with this one.

I have had it for at least a year. No problems.

Haven't needed them yet.

I have been playing for 28 years. Mostly acoustic except in the last 2 years have been doing a lot more electric playing. This amp with my Strat plugged in makes me only want to play more and more. I would highly recommend this amp.

I assume the amp was made in 2006. I bought it demo'ed in April 07.
It has a decent set of basic features and options: 2 channels, clean and dirty, chorus, flange, delay and separate reverb. It has FX loop, aux in (w/level control) headphones and aux speaker jack (8 ohm). It comes in a burgundy Tolex with a cane grill and white piping - very retro looking. It has a single carry handle on top, side handles would be nice. It does not come with a footswitch, but will accept about any 2 button switch. Also an effects level control would be useful.

Sound Quality : 9
In a word: tubey. This is a pure solid state amp, but sounds like it has at least a tube preamp. It could use some more oomph on the clean channel, but isn't underpowered either. I got it for practice and small gigs and it is adequate. It sounds close to my Marshall avt50h, especially when I use a compressor. I'm going to add a 1x12 cab with a Vintage 30 to assess the speaker better (and maybe replace it). I think this will help the clean channel volume some. The amp is a little weal on the midrange, but very bassy and treble is OK. Again, an EQ pedal helps with the middles. The gain channel is adequate and loud enough - although I don't get the kind of feedback I really need for the beginning of Foxey Lady easily, for example. Overall, I am quite happy with the sound, especially when used with my hollowbody. I use a Mexi-Strat most of the time for Hendrix, and occaisionally an electric 12 and an LP. They all sound pretty good with this amp.

Reliability : No Opinion
So far, so good. Never gig (for money) without a backup!

Customer Support : 10
I had a few questions going in and got fantastic communication directly from the Gibson engineers. Regarding the new 1x12 Epi Vale Jr. extension cab: it is 16 ohms and would not work well as an extension cab to the Triggerman 60 (8 ohm). Too bad - maybe they should make it with switchable impedance.

Overall Rating : 9
I've been playing off and on for 40 years and have had many amps. I play classic rock and some CW and am now doing a Hendrix cover act. The amp has suited my needs and for the money is a good value. I researched this price range thoroughly before I bought and think I got what I was looking for sound wise. If stolen I'd either get another or go with a Vox AD50 for a few more bucks. Certainly nothing any heavier! My main gig-rig is a Marshall AVT50HX and 212 Avatar Vintage cab w/Celestion Vintage 30's.

I bought this amp new from Musician's Friend so I'm guessing it was made in 2006. It's got 2 channels, 1 clean and 1 for the built-in effects. I play pop/rock and generally just use the clean channel with my pedal board which is just as well because all of the built-in effects are pretty cheesey-sounding. The amp did not come with a pedal for channel switching and it should have. Plenty of power for me - I mostly play in small to medium size clubs. It's a little heavy for lugging around but it looks real cool. the reverb switch works for both channels and it's got an extension speaker plug in back. Nice features.

Sound Quality : 1
I returned this amp right after I bought because it was so noisey. I was extremely disappointed because I really liked the way the amp looked with my red Epiphone guitar. Besides the buzz this amp has a real bass-y sound even when the bass is turned all the way down. Because the effects are so rinky-dink only the clean channel is useful. Basically, it's an inexpensive amp that sounds like a cheap amp. I read in some reviews that the amp was noisey and buzzy but I took a chance that I'd get a quiet one that worked well. I didn't and I'm not going to gamble again.

Reliability : No Opinion
Coming out of the box defective speaks volumes for reliability. I wouldn't trust it even if I got it fixed. However, since I never gigged it I can't speak for reliablity.

Customer Support : 1
I called Epiphone to ask about the pedal and they wern't helpful at all. Boo.

Overall Rating : 1
I bought this amp on a whim because the price was right and the cool retro look caught my eye. I have been playing guitar for nearly 40 years. My other amps are a Twin Reverb, an old Bassman, a Deluxe, and a Traynor YC-20. If this amp were stolen or lost I would feel sorry for the person who found it or stole it. First, it's too heavy to run away with, and second, it's a terrible amp. I love the way it looks, I loved the price and I hate pretty much everything else about it. This amp had tremendous potential - it could have been the steal of a lifetime - but as it is, Epiphone should be ahamed of themselves for putting their name on this piece of junk.

Ok so I saw this amp on ebay and fell in love with the retro look so I took a chance. Since I own a peavey Delta Blues 30 wat with a 15 inch speaker tube amp and a fender Blues Jr 15 watt with a 12 inch speaker tube amp I really wasnt expeting much. Maybe It would do as a back up. Wow! Was i wrong! This amp kicks ass. 2 channels with seperate tone controls and volume controls effects and reverb I was blown away. Add in headphone jack and and array of back panel fetures this amp is my buy of a lifetime. At 60 watts solid state its pleanty loud and I defy anyone to tell me its not tube. The effects echo is good flanger so-so and chorus so-so. The reverb is just fine.

Sound Quality : 10
The lead channel has all the grit you need and matched up to my Fender and Peavey it blew them away. Yeh I know, I was in shaock too. The clean channel did the same and is only a notch below a twin reverb in clean shimmering tone. I use a Strat through it and love it. The amp is quite as a church mouse in the clean mode and has a very slight hiss in lead. Much quiter than both my tubes.

Reliability : No Opinion
I dont know if I can depend on it yet but being ss it should hold up. Plus its built like a Sherman Tank! It is a bit heavy but its worth it.

Dont know about support. Havent used them yet.

Ive been playing for 20 years and have had many amps. This one is right on top If it was stolen I would sell my blues jr and buy it right back. . There is alot to love about this amp and the price blows you away AT 269 its a steal. I do wish it was a little lighter and that it had side handles as well. I also wish it came with the footswitch but at 22.95 extra its not a major issue. This amp is my Number 1 now and even I cant belive it being a tube guy my whole life.
You need this amp now! Epiphone has it this one out of the park and its still going.

I dont know what year the amp was made in . I bought mine used at a local music store. I play mostly various types of rock. The distortion channel is not very good, but works great with a pedal. The amp would have been better if there were numbers for each of the level knobs for quick switching between songs. I use this amp mostly at my church youth group and in my bedroom. It definately has enough power and can get really loud. The pedal it came with is really nice.

Sound Quality : 9
Great reverb sounds and effects. distortion not very good for my playing style. I play it with my fender and it sounds pretty good on the reverb channel.

I just got it about a week a go so I dont really know yet, but i have not had any problems with it so far.

Great amp for the proice. I recommend getting a distortion pedal to beef up the overdrive channel. I love the vintage look. Great buy!!!

Read the reviews, 2 channel, DSP effects. Mine actually came with a footswitch. Mine also came with a weird sqeeling sound even when it wasn't plugged in. I had to have it fixed and now the DSP stuff doesn't really work right but I don't use them anyway. Built like a mule. It's got an oversized 1x12 speaker.

Sound Quality : 7
The clean channel is great. Nice tube like sound. Reverb is also pretty lush. I did not like the distortion channel at all. I decided to run pedals through the clean channel instead. If you leave the EQ controls flat it sounds really good I think. Plenty loud for any gig.
I play country rock pretty much and this amp seems to like it. And no, you can't play death metal with this amp.

Uh... after the squeel was fixed it has not broken down since.

I never called them, I got it fixed by a friend.

I have been playing for 17 years, I have owned and do own tube amps. This really sounds good. If it were stolen I might get it again. I love the amp but man it's big and heavy. I'm getting casters ASAP. I'm a small guy so a Blues Junior would feel better. I wish the channel 2 was better but whatever. It looks great and for the price it's all worth it.

THis is a recent purchse 2006 - Made in China. Great set of features for the money, no doubt about it. Does not come with a footswitch, which you will need. Was plannning on using this amp to play out.

Sound Quality : 9
I play mostly blues and country and use an old Tele - mid 80???s and a newer Strat. Both have standard Fender pick ups and both sound good. This amp can deliver both the twang or those fat strat sounds. Clean channels is very clear and the dirty channel can deliver some serious crunch. Very versatile, Nice reverb. The DSP settings are a nice touch.

Reliability : 2
Here is the rub. I bought this amp less than one month ago. I play every day at least an hour but mostly 2-3 hours a day. The amp suddenly started producing a LOT of static. This was even worse on the DSP settings where the flanger sounded like some kind of siren even with no guitar plugged in. This amp is now on its way back to the store. Being exchanged for something with tubes. May be just a lemon but it???s got to get a seriously low score here.

Customer Support : 10
Luckily this problem showed up early while I could return it for a full refund. I did call an experienced repair tech, who is licensed by Gibson, and he advised me to exchange it for something else. So that is pretty good service.

Overall Rating : 4
I've been playing for 10-years, mostly acoustic. Obviously would not buy this again. Not sure I would even try this brand.

Bought this amp about 2 weeks ago from Musician's Friend, assume it was made this year- 2006. This probably has more features than I need actually, but it's nice to have those options mentioned here by others. I use it mostly at home for practice and plan to use in our church. Seems like it will have plenty of power in our sanctuary, not sure how it will sound in larger venues like school auditoriums where we have also had services. Did not come with the footswitch which I got from American Music Supply for $23.

Sound Quality : 9
Hard for me to give an expert opinion here, as I'm not an expert. But I would agree with other reviewers here. It has a really nice clean sound on the clean channel. I don't think the lead channel is that bad. I'm playing an Ibanez Artcore AF86 so it feedbacks pretty quick through the lead channel, which isn't unexpected with a hollow-body. Gives me a great Nick Lowe guitar sound on the clean channel. Very little noise overall.

Reliability : 9
So far so good. Seems very well-built. Appears pretty rugged. Very heavy! Am little concerned about the carrying handle capacity (and I have to carry this up and down our basement steps to my "studio").

Not needed any company support yet.

I've been playing for about 25 years, but mostly acoustic. Recently decided to dive into the electric world, and wanted something decent with a good clean sound as I'm mostly interested in playing blues, jazz, and contemporary worship. Love the sound, not thrilled about the weight. They should have included the footswitch like most mfrs. do. I was a little confused reading the reviews as to whether it would arrive with the footswitch or not. From what I've read, it seems like maybe it does in the UK but not in the US. I don't live in area where I can easily compare a good selection of amps, so I went by the reviews here and on MF's website. I was originally leaning towards a Crate, but this amp had consistently good reviews for it's sound, and I thought the retro look was fun.

Features as mentioned in previous reviews.

But no footswitch. Best as I can figure, UK buyers from their distributor got a footswitch, not US.

The footswitch included would have made it a 10 rating.

Biggest plus's Adjustable reverb, Level control output, Level control aux in, xlr out, stuff you only see on more expensive amps.

I like the raised lettering on the amp face.

Sound Quality : 9
I am shocked. I am pleasantly shocked. This amp sounds good clean and sounds great even with an outboard fx loop running.

Absolutely no difference in sound than an overpriced VOX or Fender (I own both). I ran my US and Jap strats and my epi casino with P90's, thorugh this amp, and the pickups were faithfully reproduced.

I do not like the dirty channel on this amp, and probably will never use it. But the clean channel is something that works pretty damn nice. Pretty quiet amp.

The on board dsp FX are fair and usable, I think the chorus is pretty good and I would use it.

The 12" speaker is really enhanced by this very solid box of an amp.

The amp's sound is to good to be wasted in mono, two speakers would have been a nice touch, so I am definately going to get an additional 1 x 12" extension (unfortunately for me Epi only make a 4 x 12), so it'll be another brand of cabinent.

Unknown. Looks pretty solid.

Good God, this thing is heavy. The UPS driver was not pleased as he hefted it to the porch.

I think that I will get some coaster wheels for moving it around the downstairs. I really don't gig, but if I did I would get a luggage roller to wheel it around.

I am perplexed at what kind of wood they used that would cause this thing to be so heavy, stable, and solid. This is not going to get bumped over by your drunk bassist

Customer Support : No Opinion
Never dealt with them, except over the footswitch and they (Gibson Support) were responsive, and told me that the dealer could order it from them (pretty nice white ceramic one that comes standard with the triggerman 100 head, so you can see what they look like by finding the 100 head).

Overall Rating : 10
Been playing 30 years. I own too much gear according to the Mrs.

Great sounding and great looking amplifier.

What I love?: The sound, the looks, the solid feel of the amp, and the front and rear panel features.

What the amp should have had?: Should have a footswitch included. Should have a cover. Be nice if it had a tilt back hinge(s) like a twin. Each of the DSP selections should be marked (1234), but at least they have a click so that's okay at least. I guess the price makes it even steven.

Yes, and I read the reviews here, and the online user reviews from the music stores, with skepticism. I thought "Epiphone? Looks great, pretty cheap in price, but I doubt the sound or workmanship will be that great, after all you get what you paid for" Well, that may be true 99.9 percent of the time, but this is the .1 percent of the time when you get a hell of a lot more than what you paid for.

If you contemplating this amp seriously, jump right in, you will be pleasantly surprised.

If someone ran off with this amp, he would be located less than a block away, with a hernia or back injury due to the weight. And yes if it were stolen or damaged I would definately replace it.

Bottom line: I like it.
