This is a great looking solid state amp. It has a load of back panel features + 2 independent channels and 3 on board delay based effects (chorus/flange/delay), as well as digital reverb. Definitely loud enough for gigging and rehearsal. Weighs around 30kg - so it's very heavy for an SS amp. Quite a versatile amp overall.

The amp is best suited to older guitar styles, like Blues, Rockabilly, Country, Jazz, Fusion and 60s/70s Rock - its looks would probably indicate this to most people.
The amp has a very Fender-like or American voicing. The "E-valve" solid state technology in this amp is supposed to emulate tube sound (it does a good job too) - but it tends to sound more like 6L6 than EL34 or EL84 in my opinion.
The clean channel is very sweet with an authentic Blackface sparkle and a lot of very musical-sounding presence. Only a Fender Twin could really sound better than this. You can dial in great Country and Jazz tones - the amp responds well to vintage type pickups. Teles and Strats sound lush and twangy and PAF-loaded axes have a nice Jazzy warmth on the neck pick up. Filtertron pickups sound nice and "kerangy" - really great Rockabilly sounds in here. The reverb and delay effects add an extra dimension to the clean tones that really top it all off. I've found that the on-board effects sound pretty good; so much so, that I could actually leave my pedal board at home. I really dig the delay on the 3rd setting (probably around 150-200ms) and run the reverb on half way as well. Quite a good vintage-style echo.
The drive channel is very bright and reminds me a lot of early Mesa Boogie sounds - lots of top end and upper midrange cut. It's definitely a bright Fender-type sound again but with quite a lot of nasal, fuzzy sounding gain available. I've found I like to keep the gain no higher than 9 'O' Clock and work the channels level knob up to about 3 'O' Clock. The channel is so bright that it really needs to have the bass turned all the way up and the treble and middle knobs down low. Having said that, it has a very articulate lead voice that should stand out nicely in a band mix. At lower gain levels it's perfect for Jazz-Fusion leads. And you can get great flutey tones out of the neck pickup on a Les Paul or Flying V. Higher gain levels could be used to emulate 60s Fuzz sounds. You can certainly get some good Hendrix studio tones with a Strat. Sort of like a Fender Twin being driven by a silicon fuzz.
The distortion can get very grungey and fuzzy but it isn't really suitable for tighter metal styles. You can get some okay 80s LA sounds - thanks to the bright voicing - but Thrash and Nu-Metal tones would have to come from pedals or other FX processors. A Tube screamer and Boss Super OD work well with this amp especially on top of the clean channel sound.
Overall, the amp is better suited to more rootsy styles, like those mentioned above, but you can dial in Led Zeppelin sounds pretty easily. I like it - it makes me want to play and I don't need to lug pedals around - except for maybe a compressor.

Not sure yet; but seems very well built. Very solid and heavy. I like the mesh grille on the back which protects the speaker but still gives you the open-back sound. Pots seems well mounted to the face plate which help reduce stress on the pcb.

Been playing for close to 20 years. It's a good stand alone gigging and recording amp with out the hassle of tubes - although it sounds pretty tubey.
Weighs a lot and is quite large but these factors probably help the tone a bit. Dirty channel needs to be appreciated in a band mix - by itself it can be a bit bright.
I like what I've got for the money spent and would go after another if I lost this one - very nice for older music genres. May look into other Epiphone amps in the future

2005 model Great for blues, classic rock and just about anything. 2 channel footswitchable. Has everything just about. Di out, effects loop with level control, headphone jack and line out/speaker vol control, aux in aux out. Solid State amp also heavy to lift. If you have a bad back better get a lighter amp. I wish it had handles on the side.

Play Strat and Tele through. Lets my Nocaster pickups do their thing. Sounds great. If their was a downside it would be the effects, just are standard nothing to write home about but the reverb is great. I do use the chorus for certain songs. Distortion is just plain but usable. Very quiet still after 4 years.

This is where it shines. Been playing this thing for 4 years, bought it when thy first came out. Never a problem with anything. Giged with it, practice and studio. With electronics if it does not fail within the first 50 hours you are usually ok. The first ones came with a factory footswitch. I probably wrote the first review on this. Built like a tank, weighs like one also.

Been playing for 30 years. Out of production but would buy another one. It states tube tone but it is close no cigar. Warm Gibson technologies sound but not tube. I like it because it gives me "My" sound and is more dependable/study than tube. The effects loop is great to put noisey effects behind. A real winner, wish they still made them.

I play mostly blues and really a lot of other stuff too. The clean channel is all I could hope for but the distortion channel is hard to control as it breaks up so quickly that you have to make fine adjustments around the first centimeter. Not too bad for practice but it's best to use a separate distortion pedal instead (but isn't that what so many people do anyway?). This is a gigging amp too! It will go fricking LOUD. As it's heavy and awkward to carry with the top handle, I put some heavy duty sunken side handles on it and it now feels much lighter and simple to lift around the place. I carefully stuck the vinyl back within the dishes of the handles and the amp now looks like some kind of deluxe model. I recommend to anybody to do this to amps of this size.

It's my opinion that single pole pickups sound better through the the Triggerman 60 DSP. I swapped my Epiphone Sheraton 11 humbuckers for some P-94 style pickups from Vintage Vibe Guitars and my sound cleaned up beautifully. My old Cimar Strat copy sounds clean and punchy through this amp and my acoustic is also good through it. I love it. As for the effects, they are pretty good if you like effects but I like to concentrate on the pure sounds and would rather have a couple of different sounding guitars for variety. The sound is good for me! However, I find that the sound is more stable if I keep treble and middle on similar settings.

This amp has given me no trouble in two and a half years and it feels like it will go forever. I have a lot of faith in this amp. I will never have to change a valve or ever be listening out for them as they wear out. Give me this reliability. I think that these amps have been discontinued but I feel that people will be trying to pick them up in the future because they are such a solid bet. I think the price (so low) gave these amps an air of cheapness and put your purists off. These amps are well made, as tough as a rhino, sound good and deserve to be used.

I've been playing for 14 years total. Raising a family in between times took precedence and I had to replace my gear. I previously owned a Musicman valve combo but now prefer the sound and reliability of my Triggerman 60 112. I might replace the amp if it disapeared but, then again, there might be something else around that is just as good for the price ~ but I doubt it. If I had squillions, I would probably buy something at the very top end but I'm on a budget and I found an amp that suits me just fine. I wouldn't like to see it go anyway as it looks so nice. It has a tasteful retro look that almost invites you to play.

I think mine was made in 2006. I play blues and it's perfect for it. Has 2 channels, clean and dirty.I use the clean mostly with a blues overdrive and it's great.Did'nt come with a footswitch, and i never could locate one, but i use a 2 button marshall and works fine.
Has plenty of power for me, even with out mic'ing it, really loud!DSP effects are great too, Reverb sounds pretty good as well, don't use it much, but works fine.

I use it with a Les Paul with Stock 490's and 498's and sounds amazing.Very clean sounding and quiet, even in the studio for recording.People don't believe me when I tell them it's a solid state amp! they even think it's a 2x12. I've used Tube amps before and i'll take this one over any i've tried yet, and i'll never have to replace a tube. You simply cannot tell the difference from this and a tube amp if set right. Dirty Channel works great too, set on low gain, mid's down and gets a nice " Tube break up" sound. Epi got this one right.

So far, after 2 years, still as solid as the day i got it from UPS.Still works great with no problems at all. Reliable and although i should'nt, i don't bring a backup to gigs. I gig out every week, sometiems 2 times a week, and still running strong. This thing is heavy,a tank, but i like that,it "feels" solid and strong.

I've seen other reviews about how their amps squeal and develope static or noises, but mine has never done that. I think just like anything you buy, you get bum ones. If mine were lost or stolen, i'd order another one for sure.I paid 300.00 for mine with shipping and to me, you can't get a better value than this for the money. As with any amp, it is all about preference, tweaking, type of guitar and effects you use. Take the time ot work with it and you will get what you want.

I bought this 2 channel amp on a closeout as the price was right and for the retro appearance. I believe this one was manufactured in 2006, and it did turn out to be a decent value. Clean channel is great, with a lot of power. I don't use the distort as it really is poor. The reverb isn't bad, but using the effects is something of a challenge. I've been able to get a lot out of them with a Country Gentleman and a Gretsch Electromatic, and to a good degree with a Ric 330, and a 335. But as for a strat or LP, forget it...except for the low end of the chorus setting they are essentially useless.

As indicated, the clean channel is great, and the effects can be pretty good with the right guitar. The distort is lame. But for me and my style of playing, the clean channel makes up for the limitations with the distort, so the amp is more than satisfactory. Power on this one is really good and when used right it is not at all out of place in even a larger gig setting.

Been playing a lot of years...decades, in fact. Despite the amp's noted limitations, it can be a great value for the money, provided you aren't looking for great or even decent distortion, or expect too much out of the voice effects. Appearance is certainly a plus for it. While I would not search all over for another if lost or stolen, I would not hesitate to get one of these again. But I believe that Gibson discontinued these.another.

I first bought a Firefly 30 watt Epi. Liked it so much I wanted more power for playing at church, so I got the Triggerman. At first I thought it was just OK. But after working with it, I fell in love. I don't know if it opened up or what. But now it sounds fantastic. I couldn't be happier. To me it sounds close to a tube amp. Close enough for me. I would even say just like one. It even acts like a tube amp. The more I turn it up the better it sound. I absolutely love this amps tone. I use the clean channel 95% of the time and run a Boss Blues Driver in front of it with A Marshall ED-1 compressor for leads. That is all I need for incredable tone. The built in overdrive isn't bad. I have used it for a quik bump up when playing, and it sounds good with the Boss running the same time. But I think the Boss sounds better on its own so I mostly use that. I have the compressors level set higher to act like aboost so when I do lead all I got to do is hit it and It is loader. I love this amp. It is a keeper. If stolen, you bet I would get another. I would love to try the stack Epi makes. But since I have a really bad back, I will stick with this one.

I assume the amp was made in 2006. I bought it demo'ed in April 07.
It has a decent set of basic features and options: 2 channels, clean and dirty, chorus, flange, delay and separate reverb. It has FX loop, aux in (w/level control) headphones and aux speaker jack (8 ohm). It comes in a burgundy Tolex with a cane grill and white piping - very retro looking. It has a single carry handle on top, side handles would be nice. It does not come with a footswitch, but will accept about any 2 button switch. Also an effects level control would be useful.

In a word: tubey. This is a pure solid state amp, but sounds like it has at least a tube preamp. It could use some more oomph on the clean channel, but isn't underpowered either. I got it for practice and small gigs and it is adequate. It sounds close to my Marshall avt50h, especially when I use a compressor. I'm going to add a 1x12 cab with a Vintage 30 to assess the speaker better (and maybe replace it). I think this will help the clean channel volume some. The amp is a little weal on the midrange, but very bassy and treble is OK. Again, an EQ pedal helps with the middles. The gain channel is adequate and loud enough - although I don't get the kind of feedback I really need for the beginning of Foxey Lady easily, for example. Overall, I am quite happy with the sound, especially when used with my hollowbody. I use a Mexi-Strat most of the time for Hendrix, and occaisionally an electric 12 and an LP. They all sound pretty good with this amp.

I had a few questions going in and got fantastic communication directly from the Gibson engineers. Regarding the new 1x12 Epi Vale Jr. extension cab: it is 16 ohms and would not work well as an extension cab to the Triggerman 60 (8 ohm). Too bad - maybe they should make it with switchable impedance.

I've been playing off and on for 40 years and have had many amps. I play classic rock and some CW and am now doing a Hendrix cover act. The amp has suited my needs and for the money is a good value. I researched this price range thoroughly before I bought and think I got what I was looking for sound wise. If stolen I'd either get another or go with a Vox AD50 for a few more bucks. Certainly nothing any heavier! My main gig-rig is a Marshall AVT50HX and 212 Avatar Vintage cab w/Celestion Vintage 30's.

I bought this amp new from Musician's Friend so I'm guessing it was made in 2006. It's got 2 channels, 1 clean and 1 for the built-in effects. I play pop/rock and generally just use the clean channel with my pedal board which is just as well because all of the built-in effects are pretty cheesey-sounding. The amp did not come with a pedal for channel switching and it should have. Plenty of power for me - I mostly play in small to medium size clubs. It's a little heavy for lugging around but it looks real cool. the reverb switch works for both channels and it's got an extension speaker plug in back. Nice features.

I returned this amp right after I bought because it was so noisey. I was extremely disappointed because I really liked the way the amp looked with my red Epiphone guitar. Besides the buzz this amp has a real bass-y sound even when the bass is turned all the way down. Because the effects are so rinky-dink only the clean channel is useful. Basically, it's an inexpensive amp that sounds like a cheap amp. I read in some reviews that the amp was noisey and buzzy but I took a chance that I'd get a quiet one that worked well. I didn't and I'm not going to gamble again.

I bought this amp on a whim because the price was right and the cool retro look caught my eye. I have been playing guitar for nearly 40 years. My other amps are a Twin Reverb, an old Bassman, a Deluxe, and a Traynor YC-20. If this amp were stolen or lost I would feel sorry for the person who found it or stole it. First, it's too heavy to run away with, and second, it's a terrible amp. I love the way it looks, I loved the price and I hate pretty much everything else about it. This amp had tremendous potential - it could have been the steal of a lifetime - but as it is, Epiphone should be ahamed of themselves for putting their name on this piece of junk.

Ok so I saw this amp on ebay and fell in love with the retro look so I took a chance. Since I own a peavey Delta Blues 30 wat with a 15 inch speaker tube amp and a fender Blues Jr 15 watt with a 12 inch speaker tube amp I really wasnt expeting much. Maybe It would do as a back up. Wow! Was i wrong! This amp kicks ass. 2 channels with seperate tone controls and volume controls effects and reverb I was blown away. Add in headphone jack and and array of back panel fetures this amp is my buy of a lifetime. At 60 watts solid state its pleanty loud and I defy anyone to tell me its not tube. The effects echo is good flanger so-so and chorus so-so. The reverb is just fine.

The lead channel has all the grit you need and matched up to my Fender and Peavey it blew them away. Yeh I know, I was in shaock too. The clean channel did the same and is only a notch below a twin reverb in clean shimmering tone. I use a Strat through it and love it. The amp is quite as a church mouse in the clean mode and has a very slight hiss in lead. Much quiter than both my tubes.

There is alot to love about this amp and the price blows you away AT 269 its a steal. I do wish it was a little lighter and that it had side handles as well. I also wish it came with the footswitch but at 22.95 extra its not a major issue. This amp is my Number 1 now and even I cant belive it being a tube guy my whole life.
You need this amp now! Epiphone has it this one out of the park and its still going.

I dont know what year the amp was made in . I bought mine used at a local music store. I play mostly various types of rock. The distortion channel is not very good, but works great with a pedal. The amp would have been better if there were numbers for each of the level knobs for quick switching between songs. I use this amp mostly at my church youth group and in my bedroom. It definately has enough power and can get really loud. The pedal it came with is really nice.
