2009 v.3 Epiphone Valve Junior Head run thru an Epiphone Valve Junior Extension cabinet. The amp is a 5W (RMS) Single-Ended tube amp with a volume control and 4, 8, and 16 ohm impedence. The Extension Cabinet is plugged into the 16 ohm input.
The cabinet could have utilized an output for daisy chaining or other other features like input out or something, but other than that, it is a basic speaker cabinet. For this, I will rate it middle of the road.

This is the BEST speaker cabinet I have ever played! I have been playing for 25 years and have literally $100,000 in equipment. Other guitar equipment I utilize is 12 different guitars, a Marshall companion amp, a Peavey companion amp, a Crate G-60 head, and a Peavey XXX tube amp.
This cabinet is balanced, can be punchy, clean. I ran the Valve Junior head to 11 o'clock clean and all the way up at 5 o'clock. I ran multiple pedals into it for blues, rock, and metal sound. Awesome. People can be sooo en vogue, but if an unbiased person checks this cabinet out, better than any I have ever used (Mesa, Celestion, Crate, EV, etc). It gets a solid 10!

Excellent quality material, nice tweed front, corner protectors, etc. It should be fine if maintained and handled well. Too bad they didn't add handles in the sides. Not necessary as the thing only weighs 20# or so, but always nice and looks cool.

A simple 1x12 cabinet loaded with the Lady Luck 16 Ohm 70W RMS speaker designed by epiphone and eminence. Has one 1/4" speaker jack.
Birch plywood construction and open back with metal mesh covering back opening. I would have preferred two speaker jacks.

I just got a Egnater Rebel 20 half stack, and was going to get another Egnater 1x12 cab, but then I saw I could get the Epiphone Valve Jr half stack for the same price as the Egnater cab. So I got the Valve Jr head as a bonus! I liked the idea of combining the open back epi cab and the closed back eggy. They're both 16 ohm and the eggy cab has two jacks, so it works well for a full mini stack. Also the epi cab is a little smaller and sits well on top of the eggy cab.
The epi cab is actually a bit brighter sounding, gives a more open sound and some ambiance due to the open back, and gives a wider bass response without getting too flabby. I'd say the two cabinets together compliment each other very well.
I expect it to sound better once it breaks in.

It's a nice cabinet with a speaker made by a reputable company, so I can't see why it wouldn't be reliable and last for many years. The tolex has a couple places where it bubbled though so I'll take off a point.

I've been playing since 1979 and played professionally for about 10 years and now have been teaching for about 6 years. I own tons of stuff.. really too much stuff. I'd definitely get these. They are a bargain if I ever saw one. I like the vintage appearance and I don't hate anything about it. I can't really compare it to other cabs because I was always a combo type of guy, and only recently got into heads and cabs.
The main thing I like is it's not too expensive and it sounds really very good to me.

here is where it really shines .. i think this thing sound just awsome !!
it is maybe the best cabinet i have ever played throug .. and i have other cabinets loaded with the hyped (and used by many) celestion vintage 30's .. i actually think this eminence speaker sounds better!!
some say it sounds a bit dark voiced .. guess it's no speaker for say like a bright fender amp or or someone who seeks those ear grinding highs .. but if you want that round, mellow brithish vox kinda tone . ide say this is a real good way to go .. and its cheap to .
i use it with an orange tiny terror (i also have a epi valve jr head , but i mainly use the TT for this cab)
a 10 here ,simply because i have not heard anything better from a guitar speaker yet .

Epiphone got something "right on", box size/speaker position inside its box, the size of the neatly meshed hole in the back panel, all come together and give this box a sweet, controlled sound.

Mines done a few road miles and had it share of abuse, but luckilly, its not broken or torn yet. The heavier gear always takes "looks" damage worse than this lighter unit.

Its just a speaker cabinet so features aren't a factor. But they did think to put this thing together nicely with corners and screen on the back to protect the speaker. Very solid.

This thing sounds great. I am using it as a true extension cabinet with my Vox AC-30CC2X and it hangs right in there. A little more brittle on high end distortion than the Blue Celestion Alnicos, but hey, that goes for 99% of the speakers on the market. And it certainly sounds MUCH better than stock Vox (Wharfdale) Speakers.

I actually bought this thing just to get a nice looking cabinet at a reasonable price. I had a Weber Blue Dog laying around I thought I would mount in it. But honestly, after hearing the Eminence Lady Luck that came with it, I don't think there is enough to be gained to warrant switching the speakers out. As far as bang for the buck, this is one of the best purchases I've made lately.

This is a superb sounding 1x12" cabinet. And the price... Like they said, it's darker sounding and has a strong bass response. I've been using it with my Bivalve and it's really become my favorite. It's much easier to get a variety of tones from the THD with this cab. With a Les Paul the Duane Allman @ the Fillmore tone is THERE!

Cab is most likely made in 2007, Single 12" speaker, birch plywood, well built and quite heavy for it's size. 16 ohm Eminence Lady Luck Speaker rated at 70 watts. Looks very retro and matches the Valve Junior heard perfectly. Would be good for practice, but probably too loud for most in home use. I'll give it an 8 because, it's a cab, that's all.

I've only tried this with the Valve Junior head (after all, that's what it's made for) and it sounds fantastic. I've had the VJ head going on 2 years and ran it through a homemade 2/12 and a homemade single 12 cab. This is a perfect match for the VJ head and is by far a better tone. I have a few guitars but the P-90 equipped are my favorites and they rock with this cabinet. I can get all the clean I need and it is clean, driving it beyond 1 o'clock sounds great but it's really quite loud at this point. I'll be using this in church and a coffee house setting, it's more than loud enough. I'm actually surprised how good it can sound with no effects at all. I ordered a reverb pedel when I ordered the cab but it hasn't come in yet, I don't think it needs much. My VJ head is stock and will probably stay that way until it actually needs tubes. The VJ head and VJ cabinet together is a very powerful 5 watt rig.

Not much to break and it's built very heavy out of birch and the speaker is probably fairly heavy by itself. It'll be a vintage system on ebay some 30 to 40 years from now.

It's a great value, I've been looking at 1/12 cabs for a long time and the closest thing in price is a Crate at $200 and I'm sure it's not as good as this. If you want to get the most from the Valve Junior Head, or and other small tube amp, this is the way to go. It's get a 10 just for cool.

This cab sounds awesome with the Epi VJ head. I haven't tried it with anything else yet. My last cab would get really harsh on the high end. With the epiphone cab I can play my tele on the bridge and the highs never get annoying. It has a kinda dark sound, probably best suited to jazz/blues. So far I've tried it with my tele using a sd-1 in front. Sounds awesome with and without the pedal.

The serial indicates a 2007 production. Feature wise, the cabinet is nicely appionted and looks stylish enough to be modern and retro at the same time. (prehaps because retro seems to be coming back in a big way)I bought this cab to hook to my valve Jr. head however, I received a bonus. I will be experimenting with the amp to develop some circuits I have been working on ( as Billy Bob ( Valve Jr. head review)says you gota be crazzzzy not to buy one of these suckers for $130 bucks)The size is nice and it complements the head.

Again, I never thought five watts could be so loud. The head turned up half way and it is loud enough for any practicing. All the way and wow. The bonus I mentioned is that I hooked the cab to my valve special and it took off. The 8 inch speaker in the special should be replaced. The special was set to half gain and about 11 o'clock for master and some reverb with the delay on the lowest setting sounded significantly better than the stock speaker.

I recently asked Gibson for a valve special schematic they sent it immediately. Unfortunately it is in JPEG format and even photoshop couldn't sharpen it, appropriately. Perhaps a PDF will will come out soon. However, the people at Gibson have been consitently helpful

45 years. If I lost this I would go into rehab for people that loose large objects. If stolen I would definitely replace the cab. As Billy Bob said in another related review ya gota be otta ya mind not to pick one of these up for 130 bucks. This beyond a great value and can serve many amps very well. It looks good and sounds good. It really enhances the sound of the valve special. Just buy one of these before you get your next stomp box!

this is a new 2007 Cabinet. The Cabinet is 16 ohms, which limits what you might tie it into to some degree. I intend it for my Valve junior Head, and that is pretty much it. The Cabinet is a solid Birch Cab, has a great two tone maroon/black covering with creme piping and cane front. There is one input jack. It would have been better if there were two in parallel. It has a stury handle and four rubber feet. It handles the power well, as the stock Lady Luck speaker is rated at 70 watts.
I use this amp at home, but take it to a weekly jam and use it with friends. I found that it makes a great Harp amp, particularly with a green bullet mic.
It smokes with overdriven sounds....and takes the robust growl of P-90s well, along with HB, and SC pups.
More time needed to break the speaker in, and try with other amps, but as used - it is pretty damn nice!

I used a Jekyll and Hyde with it and can crank some fairly clean tones out of it, but the amp does not have tremendous head room. The sound is good though, not harsh or cheap sounding. Definately not your mothers speaker cabinet!
Again, a little more playing with different heads may tell the tale, but as is with the VJr head.......its really good.

The cabinet is solid, and the speaker is made by emminence.
HArd to tell beyond that.
I don't see why it would be above average at this point.

Played guitar for several years on and off and do more bass work. I Have several amps, have had more, peavey, laney, fender, ampeg, and bunches of bass gear. I play a Jimmie Vaughn strat, Epi DOT and Agile LP3000 P-90 through it, and it takes them well. Have had frioends play through it and once they get past their snob-dom......they finally admit it was fun, louder than they expected, and sounded good.
I would like to get a second one and parallel them with the VJr head at 8 ohms. I think it would be a great match.
It is different that anything I have ever had or played through so it is hard to compare. it is a solid cabinet, and the speaekr seems well made and voiced. Somewhat dark without being muddy or flabby and really barks! Amazing for Harp work!
