This amp is based off of two Matchless amps. Channel 1 is based off of the Chieftan and channel 2 is based off of the Spitfire. Initially plugging in to the amp with on channel one (using a Heritage H-150)I got a great warm clean tone, very nice for smooth jazz leads. With some more tweaking on the Chieftan side I've found some great "dirty" overdriven clean tones. Great for classic rock rhythm and with the master volume cranked it "growls" nicely. Channel 2 is pretty similar to channel 1, but can be voiced for a nice mellow clean lead tone.

It seems to be very well built and could take a beating, but b/c I've yet to gig with it or drop it Im not going to rate it in this category.

I don't see myself ever getting rid of this amp. Great tones at an unbelievable price. Although this is more of a clean/dirty amp, throw a good overdrive in front of it and it can do some great chunky heavy rock tones. Definately recommend this amp for anyone wanting a good Matchless style amp without having to put a dent in your bank account.
