Fab Fox (Super-Plexi preamp)4 watts, built in 2003. Crunch switch for power tube overdrive and diode clip switch for low volume overdrive. Eq: master volume, low, mid, high. One input on front panel, external speaker input in back, power & standby switches in back. Ohms selector switch in back, 4/8 ohms. Simple features that make for useful trouble free tweaking.

Sound Quality : 10
In a small combo like the Fox, I can't believe the tone and volume you have on tap! The preamp Rob used for my amp was taken, I believe, from the Marshall 1959 plexi. Man this amp has vintage Marshall written all over it! The overdrive is warm, smooth and very ballsy! The VH Brown Sound can be found inside this amp, just waiting to come out with inspired playing. I use a 93' Les paul Studio & 74' strat through the Fox and both guitars sound very impressive through this combo. I play UFO, Yngwie Malmsteen, George Lynch, etc. and this amp will more than deliver the goods. It handles classic rock with ease and gets the traditional AC/DC vibe going as well! I used a DOD YJM pedal & a Maxon OD-9 pedal as a clean boost into this amp and the results were a warm, high gain that exhibited lots of rich harmonics and sustain. I don't use OD pedals for straight distortion, but rather use the volume control only, on the pedal to get a sound that is from the amp and not the pedal's sound.

Reliability : 10
I have great respect for Rob's handy work. He takes pride in building these amps and I don't really worry about problems. He answers his e-mail promptly and is willing to help if need be.

Customer Support : 10
As I mentioned above, Rob is very kind and will take the time to assist with any questions or problems that may arise. He answers his e-mail very quickly, which is about within a few hours or about one day at the most.

Overall Rating : 10
Truly, this amp is an exceptional value for the money and the tone is unmatched in comparison to other amps similar to the Fox. Granted, there will always be people who may not share the same sentiments, but honestly Fab Amps are quality, for price and awesome tone! With Fab Amps, people can get a hold of quality tube amp without having to go broke. Forget the small, overpriced, solid state and tube, high bred amps and get a Fab!!!

This is an 8-watt 1x12" combo with a single 6L6 and 2x12AX7's. There is a line out, footswitchable boost, high and low eq, gain, master, low and high inputs and Orange's FAC control. This amp has an Orange amps pre-amp cloned into it. There also is a speaker out and slave out plus effects loop. It's more versatile than I need...I'm big on single channel amps and using the guitar's volume to get different tones.

Sound Quality : 10
I wasn't big on the stock speaker so I'll probably be experimenting wiht different speakers. Running the amp's slave into my Mesa 20/20 and into a couple my other cabs sounds absolutely amazing...very Orange like. The amps speaker extension out also disables the internal speaker and sounds great like that. The tones are very dynamic and clean up well when the amp is cranked and running dirty. I play stoner rock/doom metal...basically huge crunchy/fuzzed out riffs. It doesn't really compare to some of the super boutiques but you can't come anywhere near this kind of tone for this price range. So I give it a 10 for the price...if I had paid $2000 for it I'd probably still give it an 8.

Reliability : No Opinion
I've only had it a month.

Customer Support : 10
Rob is super easy to work with. He builds all of his amps to order and was very patient with me changing my mind a million times.

Overall Rating : 10
This is a great amp that I plan to use for recording and I bought it for the price of a cheapy practice amp...it doesn't get much better than this kind of deal.
