The highs from this speaker were giving me headaches. just too harsh even with the treble rolled back. I mean, it's a Fender. It's supposed to be bright but this was ridiculous.

Installed some new preamp tubes which helped but installing the Weber Beam Blocker made all the difference.

I didn't think the BB would work but it did.

I really love this amp now.

If you find the same harshness in your highs try the Beam Blocker.

Made 2004, is versatile but I also have the clean tone solid state Roland JC-120. I play rock, jamband, funk, blues, jazz, and experimental music both acoustically and electrically. With clean and vibrato channels it covers my needs. The reverb on this unit is good on lower levels (up to about 3) and I can mix just what I need so I don't need additional processors. I really like the single 15 inch Speaker set-up at 4 ohms. You can pull the single speaker jack and patch in two 12" 8 ohm speakers of your liking (of appropriate wattage of course). Used for both studio and live work. Has plenty of power, all tube masterpiece. Very heavy and stock tubes are iffy.

Sound Quality : 10
Guitars: Martin Acoustic, Fender and Gibson electrics to include solid, hollow, and semi-hollow body styles. Great tone from this amp and mine takes a little while to get warmed up. This amp does not have distortion and I don't play with that effect. This amp is all about rip your head off clean tone. Every musician that I have worked with walked away from rehearsal raving about how it outperforms the sound from the rest of the equipment (typically their own). I have used many settings depending what I am trying to do.

Reliability : 9
Well, for me this is the end of the tone line. The only thing that impresses me more than this is a 72 Marshall Plex but that is a whole different animal tonewise. The tubes got loose once and knock out on of the channels during a transport. Reliable so far.

Playing 20 years, too much gear to list. Lost or stolen would first cry and then figure out how to get another. Hate that it is so heavy. Love it for what it is and capable of. I have sort of melded with this bad boy and without it would feel naked in a live setting. I have played many tube amps over the years and no other amp quite gives you what this one does but you have to know how to use it.

Bought this amp new, in 2008. I play country and some classic rock. This amp is in a word amazing. I have been playing thru a HR Deville 410 for the past several years and I love it. I have always got good tone because I work at it, but stil there was something missing and the more I researched and tested amps, I came to the conclusion that this was the amp I needed, and have not been disappointed in the least. It has the normal channel, then it has the vibro channel, the reverb (slightly applied with the vibrato also slightly applied, makes this an amp to be gigged with even without pedals, which we all love and use to make us sound even better. I am shooting to get a Brent Mason sound as possible. I think I'm getting pretty close, and this amp just puts me right on the precipice.

Sound Quality : 10
I play from a American Deluxe Tele, with S1 switching, a VERY customized strat, and a Les Paul Baritone. I can go with any ANY of these guitars on the stage, and with barely a change at all, I'm ready to go, and it sounds amazing. If you are looking for Marshall or Bogner sounds, keep on shopping, but if you are looking for the best clean amp around, your search should be over. The HRD410 would saturate around 7-8, but this baby you can crank to the max (if your ears can take it) and it's still uber clean.

Reliability : 9
I have been playing Fender amps for 44 yrs and I've only had to change tubes, but with that said, I ALWAYS have a backup. I've never needed it except one time years ago, but I'm not stupid. With that said, if I didn't bring a backup, I wouldn't even break a sweat.

Customer Support : 7
Getting to a service center is easy, but getting info from Fender is a little more difficult.

Overall Rating : No Opinion
Been playing over 44 yrs, I play country, but I have a lot of gear. When I compare this to my other amps, it's my favorite. I like my HRD410 and my Marshall, and my Kustom from the 70's but this Custom 15 is it for me....I think...LOL

Simple standard Twin controls.

Sound Quality : 10
Love it. I use it for both pedal steel and guitar. The sound is very loud and clean. Gives pedal steel that throaty, big chested, organic, rich, harmonic, warm sound.
I've heard people say the highs are "icy." Well, thats because of the aluminum center cone. Theres a treble knob on this thing, folks. You CANNOT set it like you would a 2x12 Twin. I suggest keeping it around 4 or so, depending, unlike a 2x12 Twin, which I would usually crank all the way up.

I was using a 2x12 Twin, which is now for sale. This kicks the regular Twins ass.

I am using this amp for pedal steel. Once you dial out the icy high end
it sounds great. Don't get me wrong though since I still like a high end sound but not too much. You've got to have some middle and bottom end to prevent it from sounding too sharp, brittle and piercing. The amp has lots of presence and tube warmth, and sounds pretty good with the steel.

Made in 2006.No effects loop.No distortion. No master volume.Good reverb. Perfect. 2 channels. One with reverb and vibrato and one without.Has bright switches.I use this in medium to small venues. Can't turn it up past three. All tube------nice!

Sound Quality : 10
This is a clean amp.If you know what you're doing, it sounds great with just a mild amount of reverb.I also use a tonebone classic, Carl Martin compressor and a ts-9 or an o.c.d. I use mainly a modified musicman axis with high (very high) output Dimarzio pickups. The best thing about this amp is that it doesn't matter where you are in the room----it sounds the same. I first noticed it while i was rehearsing. I walked away from the amp---- to the side----behind it -----it didn't matter. It sounded the same . The guys in the band couldn't believe it.Even the drummer could hear everything.

I must say that as much as i like this amp, the first one i bought didn't sound right. It had a sound as if the speaker was bad.I use it without a backup simply because i can't fit anymore stuff in my little convertible( i have a life too!)

I've been playing off and on since 1967. OUCH! But i still have all my teeth!I have a peavey classic 50, a musicman rp100, a les paul 1978 pro, a fender 1981 strat(nice), an Ibanez am75, a gretsch fatbody, a gibson 1984 explorer artist model-- he must have been on drugs when he painted this one.I would without a doubt get another one.
I chose this model for 3 reasons---it's a fender, it has a speaker based on the jbl d130-f which i played guitar through a modified marshall stack back in the early 70's,and when i played it in the sound room from where i bought it, it was nirvana---and i don,t mean the band.
I would like to add one more thing.I am a guitar player/singer. I've got to keep on my toes---especially in a 3 piece.but the best endorsement i can give you is that i lent this amp to a guy who is absolutely the best singer/guitar player i have ever seen(plays with guys from major acts) and he said that this was the best new amp he's ever heard.

I purchased the amp brand new back in late May. Not too many features with this amp, reverb, vibrato, bright switch. That's pretty much all that you need if you know what you're doing. The feature that really made me decide on this amp was the 15" speaker. I used this amp in a couple of small bars and a large Hollywood venue. The amp had plenty of volume and a great tone. In the Hollywood venue the amp, with a single speaker, sounded better, louder, and bigger than another guitar player with 2 4-10 combo amps. With the proper pedals, this amp would do well in amlost any genre of music.

Sound Quality : 10
With the amp alone the sounds were very clean. The thing that amazed me with this amp was the sound of the high end. even with one 15' speaker the high end never suffered. It sounded very present with whatever situation I was using it in. Since the amp is 80 watts I never pushed it to an overdriven sound, that would have been way too loud. The amp has more treble in the Vibrato channel than the Normal channel. The reverb sounded pretty good as well. The tone of the reverb was better than the sound of the reverb in all of the other '65 reissue amps. The reverb on this amp sounded more like my '66 Super Reverb.

I used various teles, a strat, and a Gretsch 6120 with this amp. T.V. Jones Filter-trons, Gibson humbuckers(490t & '57 classic neck), tele texas specials, and Seymour Duncan tele single coils all sounded equally well with this amp. The amp allowed each guitar and pickup combination to maintain a distinct tone but still sound great clean or with overdrive. The pedals I was using at the time were a Ts-808>Boss Blues Driver>Boss Bass EQ>Homebrew Mimic II delay>Amp. The amp worked well with the guitars and pedals in my arsenal. The amp even had a nice low end that you can only usually find with closed back type cabinets.

This amp really complimented my musical styles(Rockabilly, Psychobilly) by being able to really stand out in the mix and give a good deal of bottom end, pretty remakable for one speaker. The other guitar player that I was playing with at the time was even amazed with the sound and the ability to sound bigger than his two amps.

Reliability : 2
I used it a total of three times onstage. This was in the time frame of three weeks. The first two gigs I played with it I was just filling in with another band. The third gig I played with it was with my band. On this third gig the amp decided to stop working on me during the second song. I was most definitely up a creek on this gig because I was the only guitar player that night. Of course I didn't have a backup amp because I have used Fender Amps throughout my entire musical career and have never had the need to bring two amps. I was extremely upset with this amp because it left me hanging. I ended up returning it the next day for a full refund.

I was very impressed with the sound of this amp, so much that I am considering buying a second one. If I do purchase another one I will have an amp tech go through the amp and replace any possible problems in the amp for me. I am a stickler for tone and own a mostly original '66 Super Reverb and a '59 Bassman reissue. I'll probably try to own another one by the end of the year.

I loved the tone that this amp produced. It was exactly how I wanted it to sound. I hate the fact that this amp stopped working for no reason. This fact kinda made me lose a little bit of faith in new Fender amps.

For the tone I was looking for this amp had it. I even compared it to a custom Vibroverb and a '57 Twin. I ended up choosing this one for the high end response that it had. It also sounded very similar to my Super Reverb.

The only reason that I gave the overall rating a 5 was because the amp sounded so good. Definitely loses points for leaving me high and dry. In all honesty I should have known better, when I was checking out this same model at another store the amp started making strange crackling noises and going out on me. A friend of my had one of these die on him while he was in the middle of a U.S. tour. Hopefully Fender will begin making these amps more reliable very soon

I just bought this amp new in March '06, so I assume it was built within the past year. Has all the features of a BF Twin Reverb, but with a 15" speaker, a copy of the old JBL D130F speaker, instead of the standard 2x12s. This amp features great spring reverb, vibrato (tremelo) and fabulous tone coming through a big 15" speaker, so I give it a 10. (If it had 'junk' features such as built-in distortion, or channel swtching, I wouldn't have bought it). This is an amplifier, not an effects box.

Sound Quality : 10
I'm primarily into jazz, although I have played and currently teach all styles. Mainly I use this amp with two very different archtop guitars, a vintage Gibson Johnny Smith as well as the Ibanez GB10 (which I use for most gigs).
My setup goes like this: Chops>guitar>guitar cable>amp.
I absolutely love the clean sounds from this amp.
Reminds me somewhat of my old '68 twin w/ 2 JBL's, only bigger and broader sounding - even at lower volumes. Typical bright, warm Twin tone, but more focused, and smooth throughout the spectrum. The bigger single 15" speaker gives a sound that will stay consistent to the listener from different vantage points around the room. I like it that everyone in the audience will hear the tone pretty much as I intend it to be. Although 85 tube watts is more than I ever need, it's always nice to have. I also have LP and Strat knock-offs - I can't imagine any guitar not sounding great through this amp. The reverb is great, of course.

Reliability : No Opinion
I haven't had it very long, but I expect it to be reliable. I've been playing for 40 years, have owned mostly Fender amps, (2 SF Twins, 2 RI Twins, BF Super Reverb, SF Pro Reverb, BF Deluxe Reverb, RI Deluxe Reverb, Polytones, Ampegs, Evans) all but 2 of my amps have been tube amps. In all that time I've needed exactly 2 repairs.
Who in the world are these people who lug a backup amp to a gig? (I can't believe anyone takes a backup guitar to a gig. Are you afraid the neck might fall off? You must be pretty 'special', fellah.) No amp has ever broken down on me at a gig. If it did, I'd either plug in to another amp, the PA, play acoustically or (perish the thought!) go home. Who are these people with the back up gear? Do you tow another car behind you in case the one you're driving breaks down on the way to the gig?
O.K. I admit it. I take an extra guitar cable with me.

Customer Support : No Opinion
Fender has a 5 year warranty, which I think is pretty good. I've never needed customer support however, so I can't rate this.

Overall Rating : 10
If it were lost(?) or stolen would I replace it? Well, sure, I'd replace it. I believe it's the best sounding Twin Reverb I've owned. But how does one lose a 64 lb. amp? What? It's gonna slip through a hole in my pocket? The bottom line is this: it's a great sounding amp, and over a span of 40 years, I've played through a lot of amps. This is the one I bought.

Further down the list there are 2 very negative reviews. Unfortunately, because there are so few reviews of this amp, these 2 are given undue weight and skew the ratings for this amp. Ignore those 2 reviews. The sound of this amp is amazing.

This is the '65 Twin Reverb with an Eminence copy of the old 15" JBL. Two channels, reverb and tremolo. You know the drill.

Sound Quality : 10
I use this with an ASAT, '62 reissue tele, '57 reissue strat and a Clapton strat. I play mostly blues (Ronnie Earl, Duke Robillard, etc.). This amp is perfect for my style. With the volume at 4 and the T-M-B at 6-4-4, this amp sings. I expected that the 15" speaker might be a little slow, but the Eminence can generate some snap when called upon. All in all, this is a very satisfying amp. For reference, I own a Custom Vibrolux Reverb, Blues Jr, MusicMan 210-65, and Mesa-Boogie Mark III, and have owned a ton of other amps.

Reliability : 7
I am the second owner. Previous owner had no problems. The reissue twins have a decent reutation for reliability.

I haven't needed service on any of my Fender amps.

My amp is brand new, so I'll assume it's a 2005. I bought it because it's a Twin Reverb with a 15" speaker. I'm curious as to why Fender mounts the speaker off center. Does anyone know the answer? It doesn't have a lot of fancy features. It was built to be a clean playing amp with good tone. I'd say it does what it was designed to do.

Sound Quality : 9
I play a Telecaster through it and occasionally my GFI or Carter pedals steel guitars. It is a clean amp. That's what I wanted, that's what I got. I would like to respond to the person who said they bought it as a steel amp. I know they say it is designed to be used with steel. I've played mine through it, but I'm not sure I would perform with it. Fender makes a steel amp called the Steel King. Might want to consider that amp. OR, buy yourself a Nashville 1000 (made by Peavey). That's really one of the best steel amps out there. Or, buy an Evans. I'm not sure this amp is the right amp for steel, but I'd use it in a pinch for steel applications.

Reliability : 5
It's still too new, but so far...no problems! I do have a question though: how do amps make it through quality control with obvious cosmetic flaws? Fender people?????? My name plate was all scratched up and this didn't happen at the music store. I believe another review stated that the name plate was installed upside down!! How can this happen. I know you can't judge the book by its cover, but it may lend insight to the quality of the product when the outside isn't right. I'm a very visual (and anal) person. I notice stuff like that...you should too!! For that reason alone I am rating you with a "5" in this category.

I've been playing for about 40 years. I play bass, lead/ryhthm, and pedal steel guitar. I own two Peavey steel amps, a Fender G-DEC, an Ampeg bass amp, and my Twin. I've owned MANY amps throughout my lifetime. I like the sound of a Twin. I used to own two Lab Series amps. They were great sounding amps. The Twin sounds just as good...or is that the Lab Series sounds just as good as the Twin...no wait! <grin>

Basic Fender black face features, no effects loop etc. but who needs it anyway, guitar to effects to amp. FX Loops always take up another set of cords for send and return and if you have a clean amp and use pedals for distortion it makes it so much easier to set up and tear down....

Sound Quality : 10
There were two reviews down on this list that gave low scores overall and I just wanted to make up for the tone deaf little weasels. The clean tone of this amp is magnificent and I've been playing guitar since 1970 and have owned or played through just about every amp known to man. I play every style of music with a lean toward the fusion side of things. Maybe they were looking for a distorted tone ? This amp has a CLEAN PRISTINE tone and I've found that you can get anything else with pedals. I've always had better luck finding the best clean sounding amp and then using pedals to build on that fundamental. I can't explain how good the pure clean tone of this amp is !!!!

Reliability : 10
It's a Fender .....

This is the best amp I have ever had, the only downside is lugging it around, it weighs a ton but the tone makes up for it !
BTW, I think all this fuss about point to point wiring is hogwash especially after comparing this amp with other point to point amps, circuit boards seem to be more consistent and I didn't hear the difference.....buy this amp !

'65 Twin Custom 15. Own it for 6 months now. Two channels normal and vibrato with bright swithes. It does very well what it was meant to do - produce that awesome and alive tube clean sound. Features a 15" single speaker. No effects loop. 85 watt plently of power. Not an apartment amp.

Sound Quality : 10
The 15" speaker does produce a fatter bottom than the normal 2X12 twin RI and its clean still chimes clear as a bell. I was choosing between the 4x10 super reverb RI, twin 2x12 RI and this Custom 15". The clean sound of the super reverb and the custom 15 are just about the same - both excellent. I play strats and tellies, and ibanez. The amp simply make any guitar sound better than it is. I usually play on the clean channel and use fulltone fulldrive for some gain. I find that I don't need the pedal because the amp really drives itself when cranked up even just a bit. When the tubes are driven (volume at 4 or above) the sentivity to pick attach is amazing. The sustain of this amp even at low volume is also awesome - you won't need a sustainer pedal on this amp. METAL HEADs. I guess metal player like solid state amps. But I find tone from even the most expensive solid state amps to be shallow. Those amps, when cranked up are excellent at hiding a players mistakes. This fender hide won't hide anything, if you make a mistake, you'll hear it. I also play some metal. I put my BOSS Metal Zone 2 pedal at the front of this thing, and well lets just say that this baby's 15" speakers, 85 watt power tubes cranked even at just 4 or 5 on the volume will out grind and 150 watt solid state amp on high gain any day. You want versatility you got it - get an awesome clean amp and then you can put most pedals in front of it. A good amp can make a bad pedal sound good but a good pedal on crappy amp still gonna sound crappy.

Reliability : 8
no problems so far. I have other fender amps that are older and have no problems either. This amp is heavey at 64 pounds but come with wheels.

Never used it.

Overall Rating : 9
Don't waste your money buying some expensive amp with all these pre-set electronics. You are paying for these electronics that does a crappy job of emulating tone, while the amp itself has not quality or tone it. I'd rather pay for a excellent amp without those bells and whistles that I don't want and than simply plug in pedals to get the genre I am looking for. I looked at Vox too, essentially I would have been paying too much for inferior sound. I won't rate 10 - all amps PERIOD are too damn expensive and often times you end up buying the hype. Buyer beware!

This amp was pretty decent when I got it. I did notice the rattling/ buzzing as below, but was amazed at the tone. I had Toneman (Don Butler)from Toneman.com replace tone critical caps and resistors, and he installed a hand annealed Mercury transformer. HUGE difference in tone!!!

But the buzz was still there. Found out that cheapo Chinese (labled GT/ Fender) tubes were the reason. Elements were rattling because the grid/ plate assemblies were pushed together, not soldered/ welded like the killer set of JJ Tubes I installed from Eurotubes.

Add to this the best damn OD pedal on the planet, the BJF Baby Blue OD and this amp is pretty much sounding better than anything I've ever played.

I'd place this amps tone against any vintage amp, or modern Marshall/ Vox/ boutique amp, etc. Think of the tone on Free's "Alright Now" meets the Cars. Great stuff. Last (and the final) mod will be a Weber Califronia 15" AlNiCo speaker (buffered by a THD Hot Plate).

1) Retube it w/ hand matched JJ's
2) Get the Baby Blue
3) Tone Man mods
4) Weber 15" speaker

I'll send a 12 pack (of their choice)to anybody that does the above and isn't flippin' THRILLED by the tone they attain...

The amp is just like a twin, 2 channels, reverb and vibrato. 4 6L6 power tubes, 4 12AX7 preamp tubes, and 2 12AT7 tubes to drive the reverb and vibrato, I believe. The amp comes with a two button footswitch, removable casters, and a cover (which, contrary to the description, is NOT embroidered. Its just screen printed.) Its got all the features you'd expect from a vintage reissue fender amp.

Sound Quality : 10
I play a 2004 Fender Highway 1 Texas Telecater, whose pickups I replaced with some Fender Custom Shop Nocaster Reissue pickups. The sequence is like this: Tele--Ernie Ball Mono Volume Pedal--Boss TU-2 tuner--Boss CS-1 Compression Sustainer--Boss HR-2 Harmonist--Ibanez TS-9 Tubescreamer--Ibanez AD-9 Analog Delay--Twin custom 15. I play, as you may be thinking already, country, rockabilly and most other roots styles. This amp is flippin' amazing. I used to play a 410 Hot Rod Deville, and this thing sounds so much sweeter. I do a lot of hybrid picking (flat pick and fingers) and the 15" speaker is exactly what I needed, lots of bass, and very smooth treble. The highs and lows are a lot more balanced than a 212 Twin(which can get very shrill on the top end.) Gotta love the tube reverb and vibrato, but if you turn the reverb past 3 or 4, its almost too much. And, just like a twin, it is very, very clean. Won't break up until you hit 10. The tubescreamer sounds great in front of this amp. Not too noisy, just kind of depends what bar you are playing in. The best amp I have ever played, bar none. Sounds like everything I ever hoped for. Perfect match with a Tele.

Reliability : No Opinion
I've only had it for about 2 weeks, and played probably 16 hours through it. It was kind of funny when I got it. I plugged it in and let it warm up for about 15 minutes. Then right when I flipped it on, it blew the fuse. So I pulled the fuse out, and its a 2A slowblo, and on the back of the amp, it says only use a 4A slowblo. So I called fender and the guy said that he didn't really know what happened, but probably fuse part bins got mixed up on the assembly line. The export version uses a 2A fuse. It worked fine once I put the proper fuse in, but maybe Fender should do drug testing, because someone was spacing out. I'm actually not going to rate this, since I've had it for so little time.

Customer Support : 10
Well, you can actually talk to a person when you call Fender, so its pretty darn good. Very helpful and friendly. The amp has a 5 year warranty, which seems pretty good. Fender is a pretty stand up company in my book.

Overall Rating : 10
I've been playing for about 9 years, and professionally for 6 years. I play every weekend, 4 hours a gig. So I need gear that can withstand road use, because the road is very tough on equipment. Fender is the only gear I play or will ever play. Its the original kick ass company, and their products are incredible. This may be my last major amp purchase. It is the sweetest sounding amp for my style. Its loud too, so I'll never be buried again. I also have a Fender Hot Rod DeVille 410, which has made me a lot of money, and a Fender Mini Tonemaster battery powered amp, which actually sounds pretty cool. The only thing I don't like is this amp is heavy as hell, but its totally worth it for the tone. Just like Oreos and milk, Twin Reverbs and Telecasters are a perfect combo, and this Twin sounds the best. Nuff said!

Has the standard controls for a fender tube amp. Two channels,EQ for treble, mid, and bass. Reverb and tremelo. All tube with a custom 15 inch speaker.

Sound Quality : 10
I use American Strat Deluxes, Gibson Les Paul, SG, ES 335 and Gretsch. This amp sounds incredible. I compared the 65 Twin Reissue with the two 12 inch Jensens to the Custom 15 in the store. There is no comparison. The Custom 15 have exceptional low end, clarity, and definition. This is probably the best clean sound I have ever heard. I have owned at least a dozen amps. I currently use a VOX AC30CC2, a Boogie F50, a Peavey Classic 30, and a Boogie F30, and a Fender 65 Deluxe Reissue. Also sounds excellent using with an Ibanez TS9 Tube Screamer. I am extremely happy with the sound. With various effects pedals, it is versital. The negative reviews below are of concern in that anyone that does not appreciate the way this amp sounds needs to have a hearing exam. Most BEGINNERS that have no experience with tube amps do not understand that a new amp out of the box can have faulty tubes. This is the first thing to check if the sound crackles, pops, has low volume, or just doesn't sound right. By the way, anything that you buy off the floor at Sam Ash or Guitar Center may have tubes that have been running for 6 months or more as their demo model. TUBES GO BAD OFTEN!! Even the high quality brands. This is Fender's premium clean amp used by professionals for more than 40 years. It's not for metal heads or those that really needed a cheap solid state amp to make noise with in the first place. The Reverb is by far the best I have ever heard. If you want the traditional clean Fender sound for you Strat, BUY THIS AMP. The 15 inch speaker makes a huge difference.

So far so good. No problems

I have owned at least 6 Fender amp and have never had any problems. That alot more than I can say for the Marshall Combo amps I have owned.

Had this amp shipped feb 05(up here on the Yukon from Anchorage Area Fender dealer; never opened. Casters had broken out of paper bag (stapled to inside amp case) but didn't damage the tubes. They must be pretty tough with all the shipment. The 4 inch custom 15 plate was installed upside down, must be the child labor, but sounds great and maybe good luck. All kinds of power, wish there was a half power switch, just play in the cabin. I bought this amp on recommendation from local fender shop guitar tech. They had sold a dozen or so and everyone was happy. I am so far too, but probably would be with any fender. I had a vibrolux as a kid; reason I bought Fender.

Sound Quality : 10
Just use with amer strat standard. The 15 inch speaker is the ticket for this amp. Luv the low ends. Only thing I ever turn up past 5 is the reverb. That vibrolux I had many years back had a better quality reverb I think. I might compare reverb to SRRI this summer when I get into town. Can't find fault with that fender sound.

Reliability : 10
Between kids and me, the amp has been on a couple hours a day for 4 months straight and no problems. Fender quality

Customer Support : 10
The local fender dealer I bought this amp from, very reputable. They have to be with all the mail order houses out there these days. In the end they match M.O. price plus shipping. Fender factory is always a phone call away and they have been straight up with me in the past. I'll continue to buy Amer Fender products exclusively due to their track record.

Overall Rating : 10
We really like this custom 15. All kinds of power. No way anyone could be dis-satisfied with the custom 15; unless it didn't work out of the box. I'd been happy with TRRI-15 or SRRI, but that 15 inch speaker and fact that dealer had one left in stock did it. The reverb might not be quite as potent but I'm happy enough. Thinking on buying an SRRI anyway down the road if it sounds any different than the custom 15; but can't imagine it sounding all that much better. I live in a rural Alaskan community of 120 people 185 miles from nx nearest town and I got the best sounding amp around. Happy camper for sure

Brand new 04' model, Im giving this a 10 for features because you have to remember that in 1965 when these features were first brought out they would have been state of the art. im an avid reader of these harmony central gear reviews and have to admit that it makes me chuckle when a young player compares a 60's amp to his friends mesa boogie when it comes to features etc. They are what they are, and for an amp released 40 years ago...... keep things in perspective people. This amp does'nt have channel switching, half power switch, post or pre amp gain controls, but thats the reason i bought this amp, for its untainted tube tone

Sound Quality : 10
I have never submitted a review on harmony central before but when i seen the 2 reviews below i had to make things right. this amp is fukn awesome, there truely is nothing it can't do, you see it love's good quality pedals therefore you can achieve any tone you like, even metal, the reason is the 15" speaker, the tone sounds huge even at low volumes. don't let the 2 negative reviews below influence you, take your guitar and your favourite o/d pedal down to the music store and hear for yourself. I have 7 hi-end tube amps including a 65'super reverb and the new 59' bassman ltd and while all my amps are keepers, i find myself always using the 65 custom 15. i will go as far as to say that with a keeley reissue ts808 tubescreamer and an old strat (and great fingers) you will have srv wannabee's jealous of your massive tone. the beauty of this amp is that it is so pure and transparent in its tone that its hard to get a bad sound out of it. many may dissmiss this review as sour grapes because of the 2 bad reviews below but as a player with 16 years of playing racked up i believe im qualified to give an opinion on this truely amazing amp

Reliability : 10
its a fender, its what they are known for

havent needed them yet

im giving it a 10 because it will hold its own against any boutique amp (of which i own 3 including dr z and germino amps)

I am a pedal steel player. This amp was advertised for playing pedal steel. However, I was getting very bad overtones coming from what was believed to be the tubes when playing the C6 neck. (C6 strings are same gauge as bass strings....so being able to play these low notes at loud levels is a necessity). I had two amp techs look at the amp. Both heard the noise, but neither could figure out the exact cause.

I took the amp back to GC for a refund and they had another one that they just got in. Well....it did the SAME thing.

The noise in particular is a tambourine-type rattle that is noticeable at louder levels, predominantly when plugged into the first channel. It is especially noticeable when you hit a certain note (say a G# at any octave). As I said, both amps had the same problem, but both had the tambourine-rattle noise activated by different notes (G# for the first, D for the second).

While the noise would be acceptable on stage, I found it to be too noticeable for recording purposes....and for the price of the amp, I shouldn't have to settle for anything less than perfect sound quality.

Had these problems not occured, I would say, without a doubt, the amp would rate a "9" or a "10"....for the vintage '70s pedal steel sound, this amp HAS IT. Sounded beautiful....but if they can't get simple things right while in the testing stages, then I don't want it.

Reliability : No Opinion
I've heard that Fender has now started changing something about the tubes on these amps...probably due to the problems above. A friend of mine has reported trouble with the reverb after only one month.

Customer Support : 10
Everything was attempted to be fixed under warranty via GC....including taking it to one of the top amp techs in the country (who also couldn't figure out the problems).

Overall Rating : 1
Again, sound is of the utmost importance in an amplifier...PERIOD. If there is even ONE thing affecting the overall sound, than the amp suffers, whether it is a horrendous reverb tank, poor distortion, etc. In this case, the problem I stated above may be minor for many of you. But again, considering the price and the fact that it is marketed for pedal steel guitar (and is unable to handle the low notes of a pedal steel guitar), the amp should not be a consideration for the gigging/recording pedal steel guitarist.

A BASIC AMP WITH REVERB AND TREMLO

Sound Quality : 3
I AM A FENDER ARTIST AND USE STRATS-TELES-LES PAULS -335S AND PRS. I PLAY ALL STYLES BUT LOVE LED ZEP AND JAZZ THE MOST. THIS AMP IS TERRIBLE!!! WAS EXCITED ABOUT GETTING IT AND WAITED 3 MONTHS. IN PONE DAY I DRAGGED IT BACK TO SAM ASH FOR A REFUND. FIRST OF ALL THE TREMLO DIDN'T WORK OUT OF THE BOX. MOSTLY THE SOUND IS VERY TINNY AND METALIC BECAUSE OF THE ALUMINUM CONE SPEAKER.IT SOUNDS LIKE A BAD TWIN 2X12. I EXPECTED A LUSH DEEP SOUND BUT DIDN'T GET ONE AND I REALLY WAS DISSAPOINTED. PLAYED IT NEXT TO MY NEW BASSMAN LTD AND WHAT A DIFFERENCE!!! THE BASSMAN WAS SWEET-THIS WAS SHRILL. DON'T GET IT-YOU WILL BE DISSAPOINTED. GET THE BASSMAN. PLUS IT WEIGHS A TON!!! GOOD MAYBE FOR STEEL GUITAR. REMEMBER IM A FENDER ARTIST AND IT STILL SUCKS.

Reliability : 3
TREMLO DID NOT WORK. REVERB IS NOT THE GREATEST EITHER.

Customer Support : 10
FENDER ARE GOOD PEOPLE. JUST CALL THEM AND THEY WILL BE VERY COURTEOUS--DO NOT EMAIL THEM. THEY ARE TOO BUSY FOR EMAILS.

5 IS GRACIOUS FOR THIS AMP. ITS VERY EXPENSIVE AND DOES NOT DELIVER-PERIOD. WANT TO SURF PLAY? THEN "MAYBE" YOU MIGHT LIKE IT. NOTHING ELSE SOUNDS GOOD. GET A DELUX RI AND MIKE IT AND IT WILL COST 1/2 THE PRICE AND WEIGH 1/2 AND SOUND TWICE AS GOOD.

2004 Twin Custom 15, 65 watts RMS, two channels, channel one includes volume, treble, mid, bass, channel two adds reverb, vibrato. 4 inputs. 1 15" Eminence speaker, ceramic magnet, a copy of the 1960's JBL D130F. Pretty basic.
I play surf, this amp has tons of clean head room for that style. It's really clean and would work well for jazz, country, and clean blues. It's loud ? you have to crank it to get headroom 'cause there's no master vol., this is a vintage-style amp. Works good with a distortion pedal such as my Ibanez TS-9.

Sound Quality : 9
I use a Fender Jazzmaster, a custom Carl Pettys Surfmaster with Kent Armstrong Lipstick pickups (think Danelectro), a Line 6 Variax, and a ES-335 clone. It works well with all of them, really bringing out the tonal differences of the guitars. This is a great clean surf amp, and also good for clean blues. It has next to no white noise, and if it develops any, there's an adjustment that is supposed to minimize any buzzing. This amp is really chimey, with rich, resonant harmonics and a deep, deep bass. It is less directional than the standard Twin Reverb, which helps make it a good club amp with no "hot spots," just nice even sound.
Ideal for anyone wanting clean Fender tone or a boutique-type clean amp at a decent price.

Reliability : No Opinion
It's a Fender...I anticipate long-life.

Customer Support : No Opinion
Fender has helped me on some past issues, and they seem to have it together as to repairs and customer service. Time will tell.

Overall Rating : 10
I've been playing seriously for about two years and have gone through several amps as I progressed. This is the finest amp I've owned and compares favorably with some high-quality amps such as the SMF and some of the vintage Fenders I have sampled. If it were stolen, I'd get another one. I love the classic Fender clean tone and the big 15" speaker, which has great bass response and really nice separation between bass tones and treble tones. I looked at many amps, this one suited my needs for a club amp that could handle medium-sized rooms and also work well in my studio.

Functionally, The Fender Twin Custom 15 (new for 2004) is a mid-60's blackface re-issue, so expect familiar features. This model is brand new but the basic design has been a proven winner for four decades. If you've played guitar for a while, don't expect any surprises -- you'll be immediately comfortable with this amp.

It's heavy but not unmanagably so. The casters are a nice touch! The reverb & vibrato sound good and the foot switch works fine. So what can I say? It's a solid re-issue of a proven design -- hard to improve on that!

Sound Quality : 10
I have a number of guitars but I'm basically a Gretsch guy. Hollow bodies are innately more demanding on amplifiers. Think about it -- from Chet Atkins to Duane Eddy to the Beatles to Brian Setzer plus lots more, you've got an amazing array of sounds & styles but they all played basically the same guitar! The amp makes the difference. The new Fender Custom 15 is the first thing I've seen in a long time that supports this kind of flexibility.

Fender and Eminense have done an excellent job emulating the legendary JBL D-130F 15" speaker. It gives this amp a fabulous sound, much better (to my ear) than the usual 2 x 12 configuration. It goes beyond "clean" -- this amp can provide a smooth, creamy sound if that's what you want. However, it's also amazingly responsive and will absolutely scream if that's your style. Try it with your favorite guitar. You'll be amazed at how much more responsive the guitar will feel!

Reliability : 10
No problems whatsoever.

Customer Support : 10
No issues with this amp but I've dealt with Fender often over the years. They've finally got their act together. You can expect excellent service if the need arises.

Overall Rating : 10
I've been playing for a long, long time. Until now, my favorite was a late 50's Standel w/JBL. The new Fender Custom 15 is the only amp I've ever heard that sounds better, and I've been through quite a few over the years. "10" hardly covers it!

The only thing I can't comment on is long-term reliability -- this is a new model and I've only owned it a few months. So far so good though, and past experience with Fender products tells me this amp will last a long, long time.

This is a 2004 model ,bought it without listening to it through Musicians Friend.I had a 2x12 Twin years ago ,so I knew I would love it. The 15 inch speaker was the selling point for me,I have a Fender 75 that is my favorite amp ever and that has the 15 in it too..I was looking for something with separate channels ,reverb, tremolo and miles of clean headroom. This is a very loud amp and it has almost a hi fi quality to it. Fantastic.

Sound Quality : 9
I play Chapman Stick and I run that with the Roland VG-88 into the normal channel of this amp,the VG-88 has an unaffected output that I run into a Rat and then to the reverb and trem channel .Running a digital device like the VG-88 into this amp is the magic tone equation for me and the 15" speaker is the icing on the cake. I also plug my Fender Electric Violin into the reverb channel and that sounds pretty cool too. The only thing that is questionable is the tremolo rate ,I remember my old twin going a bit slower. Warning though ,if you suck this amp will reveal you as the clown you are. The other cool sound I like is a Les Paul into the reverb channel ,jazz city, a mature player with soild chops will love this amp.

Reliability : 10
I have only had this one for a month and I take care of my stuff.
My Fender 75 never let me down and my old twin doubled as a workbench . Don't treat it like a whore and it will behave like a lady ..so to speak. also , never let anyone haul your gear around,
thats when stuff gets wrecked.

Customer Support : No Opinion
I can work on my own stuff so this is not an issue for me.

if you are after THE CLEAN AMP ,this is it .It is not really a "Twin Reverb" but I think the 15 " speaker really takes this amp to the next level as far as being almost full range. Oh yeah ,THIS THING IS VERY HEAVY ,not for pikers.
